Update: Activision has now posted to Twitter that this year's Call of Duty game is now officially called Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The full reveal will take place next month following the Xbox Games Showcase on 9th June 2024.
Original article: Activision has officially begun teasing this year's Call of Duty game with a website and a short clip that puts the slogan "The Truth Lies" over the eyes of former USA presidents at Mount Rushmore. The website features an old television set that allows you to watch different clips across six channels. You'll find the website link and the Mount Rushmore video in the tweet below.
This year's title comes from Treyarch, and is widely believed to be another entry in the Call of Duty sub-series Black Ops. The latest suggestions are it's simply called Black Ops 6 and releases in October. A full reveal will take place following the Xbox Games Showcase on 9th June 2024.
Former PS Plus leaker Billbil-Kun then got in on the act by posting what they claim to be a blurred image of the game's key art. You can make out a man and the colour orange! Here's the picture:
Given that Microsoft now owns Activision, it's claimed the company will follow through on its plans to bundle the next Call of Duty game in with Xbox Game Pass. However, changes will need to be made to the membership service to accommodate it — a price rise seems likely. The title will release as usual on PS5 and PS4, though. Going to be hard to top Modern Warfare 3...
Biiiiiig yaaaaaawn
@DonkeyFantasy Hope you got good patience then as its going to be a long wait for the Switch 3.
@NinjaNicky Rare is the moment like this when I share every sentiment from a comment, from the fatigue of pop culture cameos in Call of Duty to the frustration of repeated fruitless treks across Hell Let Loose.
@Bentleyma MWIII isn’t even all that lol
C'mon Black Ops IIIIII would've been a better title!
Moved on from the series at this point as the friend group has our stable of multiplayer titles. Would rather support better products and companies anyway
@Bentleyma ??? It will be easy It's Treyarch
@danzoex @shadowmooneh I think you missed the joke 😂
Cool. Won’t be buying tho… I don’t and have never really cared for Treyarch’s CoDs. I’m an infinity ward fan, so I can probably skips next year CoD as well if we get one.
My litmus test for this games quality (beyond playing the beta) will be if they work hard on adaptive triggers again. Cold War had unique trigger feedback for every gun, and I believe that was the most quality COD game. If they put effort into such a small detail it shows me the game will be more polished.
Read that it's goin back to pick 10 system hopefully it was true hope it a decent cod been downhill since ghosts although bo3 n bo4 were decent rest are straight 🐶💩
Black Ops the first two games were pretty great. The 3rd had good multiplayer but that campaign was terrible. Never played 4 and that nauseating vid of the devs creaming over Reagan of all people meant that Cold War felt a bit icky to me so haven’t played it yet even though I got it on PS Plus.
@DonkeyFantasy Parity just means it would have the same 'Content' - much like other Switch ports. The same Maps, same Campaign, same weapons/modes etc.
You get 'parity' between PS4 and PS5 versions despite the differences in Visuals (4k res, Higher visual settings etc on PS5) or 'Performance' (120fps modes on PS5). The fact is that PS4 still got the same 'Content' meant it had Parity - they didn't miss out on Content because they play on less capable hardware. Fortnite can be played on Switch with PS5/Series X/PC gamers so I can see CoD doing the same - even if it isn't offering up to 4k or up to 120fps...
Black Ops 3 on PS4 (I believe) didn't have Parity with its PS3 as it didn't have the campaign and missed out on DLC packs too.
@Shadowmooneh @danzoEX I was being sarcastic!
BO6? BOG? That's fitting, as COD has been in the toilet for years.
