Zenless Zone Zero, the urban fantasy gacha game from Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse, will officially deploy day-and-date on PS5, from 4th July. In addition to Sony’s new-gen system, the vibrant title will also be available on PC and mobile, and there’ll be cross-save between all systems. Crucially, PlayStation players will not be made to wait.
A simultaneous PS5 launch was always likely after a relatively successful closed PlayStation beta earlier in the month. We were lucky enough to participate in the pre-release test, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the title. The art style is off-the-charts, and the gameplay – which sees you composing teams of up to three – is a lot denser than HoYoverse’s other games.
This release date means the Chinese developer will now be deploying one major update for each of its three titles every two weeks, effectively locking players in a loop of back-to-back events. It’s a bold strategy from the studio that could potentially consume all of this author’s time. If you’re interested in playing the game, you’ll probably want to pre-register, as once the game achieves 40 million all players will receive 20 free pulls to get them started.

Let's gooooooooooooo!
@get2sammyb As a huge Genshin fan, I can’t wait either. I’m one of the many Hoyoverse fans who plays all their games.
Not gonna lie, I really enjoyed my time with Genshin and in some way, felt attached to some of the characters and I'm definitely going to play this day 1
After a thousand hours played in Genshin Impact I really want to try ZZZ, but I'm not sure I can leave Genshin: as Ashina said, I'm too attached to it.
That's certainly an interesting angle of that pink haired girl in the first picture
@FanCFeast I have only played Genshin impact briefly during lockdown, so I know nothing and now I wonder; With all these Hoyoverse games, is there some overlap in characters or overarching lore shared between the games? Or do they completely stand alone?
Not interested in this one for some reason... but I said the same about HSR. And I gave Wuthering Waves a go over the weekend, which is an unashamed Genshin clone! For good and bad.
@jolteon23 It's a little complicated. Most games like Genshin, Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero all stand mostly alone, other than the occasional cross over. Honkai series have some returning characters.
However all games have some characters that are similar across all their games, possibly with the same name, similar backstories or designs. It's quite a clever approach as this means that fans may want to pull a character more than they would if they were an entirely new design. E.g. Raiden Mei from Gunz Girls, Dr "Raiden" Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd, Raiden "Ei" Shogun in Genshin and Acheron in HSR are all based on the same archetype.
Beta left me disappointed. But since Kuro Games dropped the ball HARD with Wuthering Waves, I’m definitely gonna give it a try.
Count me most definitely in!
@themightyant Thanks, that's such an interesting and clever approach, albeit to get us to spend more money. but I can imagine it also expands the brand and makes their overall roster more iconic in a sense. I can easily see myself spending money on similar characters across multiple games once I have some favorites.
Glad to see PS5 is getting a release day and date with PC and mobile so we won't have to play catch up and miss banners.
God bless America
I just noticed: how's that the tweet says "pre order for free" but if I go to the PS Store it says 11,99 €?
