For what it's worth, we think the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance did a pretty good job of telling a medieval story, complete with some entertaining characters, but its sequel is looking to push things further than ever before. Armed with what is clearly a bigger budget, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is dedicating a lot of resources to its cinematic narrative.
In developer Warhorse Studios' new behind the scenes video, we get a glimpse of what's in store. New facial capture rigs — custom made, apparently — allow the team to better portray emotions during key story scenes. In short, it's a big step up from the first title, which was somewhat limited in terms of technical prowess.

"We did not have this technology on #KingdomComeDeliverance 1. Now you will see every eyebrow raise and every idiosyncrasy from such a talented cast," writes Luke Dale, one of the main actors in the original adventure.

This might become one of my favorites games ever.
I have such an admiration for the first game which was fun and educational. It immersed me in a believable universe and helped shape my understanding of life in Bohemia.
It is a day one purchase for me + all eventual DLC. So stoked!
The first game's mission structures were amazing and left so much room for alternatives that aren't spelled out for you; I just want more of that. Better facial animations are great and I'm glad we'll have them but it's not what's bringing me to the game.
I hope they nail it. I'll play it regardless.
Cool, looking forward to see more of this game
Better facial animations to ensure every single Bohemian is represented, from white dudes who say ‘Newsflash buddy!’ to white dudes who say ‘I’m walking here!’
Please do PS5 version of the first game.
Pre-order worthy. I never pre-order, but I'm so damn hyped for this. First one is such a damn treat. What an immersive adventure
I thought the first was a heavily flawed masterpiece.
3 major flaws they need to get right for a sequel:
1) 60fps locked performance is a must.
2) if you are going to have timed missions make sure its clear, and possible - several mission felt more urgent than the actual timed missions, and more than once i failed a timed mission because i started a timer (sometimes without knowing it) but because i hadnt visited a location previously got forced to do other stuff instead.
3) characters would often not get to where they needed to be, in order to start missions and often abandoned horses randomly on the map... and the horses would stay there forever.
That said some sections like the monastry i will remember for a very, very long time.
I just started playing the first game last week. Haven't had a lot of time so far but it's enjoyable, despite some maddening mechanics, like shooting a bow with no reticle and lockpicking. The best part of it for me is how immersive it is. Good looking faces (mostly) and facial expressions and mostly good voice acting. I like games where I can just wander around slowly taking it all in. I'm enjoying it a lot so far!
@DogPark aim down the natural line of sight between the bow and your hand (experiment at the range to find the right spot) Once it clicks you will be fine (plus, the more you train the better Henry will be at hitting what you want to hit anyway)
Once you start to understand which parts of the game are more like reality than other games, and which aren't, you will get the whole experience as intended 😁😁😁
Can't wait to pick a thousand daisies just to build up Henry's strength again.
I never played the original. Purchased it last night on the psn for £3. Insane.
Can’t wait to play this. Quite enjoyed the first one… but didn’t get to finish it. Since it more or less crippled my GTX1060, and was just playable of my 2070 super. This time I have an 4090 to throw at it.
I both loved and hated how real the first one was. I would like sliders for certain rl instances. Many times it kept me from playing the game. I would think, alright let's go do another mission, but remember I have to take a bath and had nothing near me, would then keep me from playing it.
