It’s always interesting to look at the most viewed trailers after a State of Play has aired, just to get a better idea of which titles resonated with fans. While this is far from a scientific experiment – especially when you consider we’re only taking into account views from the PlayStation channel roughly 12 hours after the event aired – it does help to illustrate which PS5 games proved a hit with fans.
So far, the early indications are that both Monster Hunter Wilds and Astro Bot were the most liked titles from the show, although the numbers are pretty small overall. Approximately 1.2 million tuned in to watch the latest State of Play, although no individual trailer has gone over 500k at the time of writing. Of course, we’re sure the numbers will continue to increase throughout the day.
Here’s the current order, accurate as of the time of publication:
- Monster Hunter Wilds: 489k
- Astro Bot: 240k
- Dynasty Warriors Origins: 126k
- Silent Hill 2: 118k
- Concord (Gameplay): 115k
- Where Winds Meet: 110k
- Infinity Nikki: 89k
- Ballad of Antara: 80k
- Until Dawn: 80k
- Marvel Rivals: 69k
- God of War Ragnarok PC: 67k
- Concord (Reveal): 62k
- Alien Rogue Incursion: 57k
- Path of Exile 2: 44k
- Behemoth: 40k

Although a Astro tech demo was a free pack in, not many have experienced the true magic of Astro Bot because Rescue Mission required a VR headset. Whilst this game won’t be as good of course, I fully expect it to win many, many fans, and the next similar poll in which an Astro features will surely have it at the top.
Monster Hunter Wilds was definitely the heavy hitter of the show.
It looked great, but they really only showed off the bear/dog monster so it will be good to see more about the game in the future.
Astro Bot and Infiti Nikki were highlights for me personally. I’m a sucker for kid-friendly, vibrant, magical games.
One interesting thing I noticed was a general increase in graphical fidelity across the showcase. Even games i'm not interested in like Infinite Nikki looked impressive graphically and the latest Dynasty Warriors has had a huge glow up over previous entries. I assume many of these are 'next-gen' only.
@themightyant the dress up game ? Cmon , it looks like the same anime crud from ps3 era . Cutscenes may have improved but they all look turd and always have done compared to other genres
Astro and Monster hunter are both going to be 👌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Damn excited for MH WILDS. ughh the waiting is killing me.
Monster hunter is a 3rd party game 💀
Oddly enough both Japanese produced games with some zany stuff in them. And 3rd and 4th most liked Dynasty Warriors and Silent Hill are also Japanese games.
Exactly what the PS5 has been a bit thin on.
Yeah, this list looks about right. Except I didn’t think Dynasty Warriors Origins would be so high up. Always thought it was a pretty middling series but apparently it’s more popular than Silent Hill 2. At least on this pretty unscientific list…
How I wish for a game that has the Monster Hunter concept, but with Ys VIII style fast paced action. The clunkiness of Monster Hunter kills it for me.
@Kienda There will be another trailer with new monsters at SGF
Well well well, Concord gameplay at number 5. The keyboard warriors just spat out their Mountain Dew.
@themightyant Likely. Game development takes a long time for titles this detailed, so we're really starting to see the proper start of current-generation support now that the cross-generation stuff has almost all released. I'd expect this to remain the case over the remaining course of the PS5's lifespan.
@Ralizah 100% have been saying the same recently. Then we will be into the PS6 cross-gen period 💀
@themightyant I like to think that by the time the PS7 rolls around, development times will be so long that software targeting the PS7 won't come out until the PS8 drops, and the entire generation is technically just PS6 software.
In reality, dev times will likely be shorter because these companies will have fired significant portions of their development staff and shift the majority of the work over to more efficient artificial intelligences.
Not surprised tbh.
@Ralizah Ha! AI to the rescue
Personally I just think we will stop thinking strictly in 'generations', each console will be more like a hardware upgrade.
@themightyant I could see that. Generations are becoming less and less distinct as time goes on, and diminishing returns means the PS6 won't be all that different feeling from the PS5. The generational upgrade model was destined to become less and less viable over time. I think Nintendo got ahead of that with the Wii and Switch, which were both sideways moves that also bought them time in the arms race that Sony and Microsoft no longer have (although the latter seems to pivoting away from a reliance on dedicated hardware anyway, with xcloud being their long-term gambit in this industry).
This actually proves that gamers obviously want change from the ever ending openworld, roguelite, Metroidvania ***** that we get week in week out. Wake up Sony & the industry!!
