Pretty happy that Dredge is being added!
Great month on all tiers.
There’s not much on here for me, but I do want to shout out Streets of Rage 4. If you haven’t played that yet you are missing out. It’s arguably the best beat-em-up ever made, in my opinion.
For me, DREDGE and Streets of Rage 4 are the clear standout’s here.
Laughable stuff. 😂
Wow. Essential is shockingly bad.
PS2 games been added gives me hope that we'll get some classics coming.
Nice to see a fair view pavr2 games included
Trash selection. Again.
Of course SoR 4 is a solid game, but realistically, who hasn't played or bought it already, if they were curious? It's about 4 years old, and it's not even the complete edition with dlc. A shockingly bad show for essential, as far as I'm concerned.
Guess I'm playing some VR games next month
Been wanting to play that SpongeBob game after playing battle for bikini bottom. Do we know if all of the PS2 games include trophies or just the first party?
@Johnny_Ace Haha, what? This is a good month!
Well, I guess I won’t be sad to leave PS+ behind a little later next month then… If you’re not on PSVR2, there’s not much to get excited about for me (outside PS2 games, but I’ll be ok without them).
Excited for Dredge and the AEW game appeals to me weirdly. Also, PS2 games! Sly Cooper!
Gonna download Fight Forever , put it on easy mode , use CM Punk to destroy the Young Bucks , then delete the game.
Sly Cooper finally being available for purchase and not stream is great! I hope they keep that ball rolling with 2 and 3. Not sure how they'd pull off 4 without a 'remaster' though...
Pretty awful month for me, to be fair though, rarely do they put something on that I want to play. Will be downgrading to Essential when mine is up.
@Frmknst I wondered that also
I already owned a physical copy of SOR 4 which is a great beat em up and highly reccomended for anyone who never play SOR but love beat em up genre. But i'm not a fan of wrestling or Sponge Bob. So it's an eh month for me.
My essential sub will end at 8th June and i want to renew it because i need it to play SF 6. But i'll probably gonna wait if there's a discount for 12 month subs.
I had to sell my PSVR2, didnt I! Oh well!
For me it’s a ‘meh’ month, but I might try Streets of Rage 4 and Dredge.
Is this everything being added to Extra or are they having another mid-month refresh too?
Essential is pretty good this month even if I already have a physical copy of Streets of Rage 4 with the DLC, but for everyone else that's easily the highlight here. I've wanted to check out Spongebob The Cosmic Shake for a while now and I've heard AEW is a solid wrestling game so I'm definitely excited to pick up those titles
I have no interest in AEW: Fight Forever, but the other two games in the essential tier are appealing. I've played Streets of Rage 4 before, but I'll give it another go. The SpongeBob game looks fun.
Lets go finally some premium games people would want!
Not too bothered for anything on these lists to be honest, but that's the way the cookie crumbles some months and one mans weak month is another mans strong month.
At least this will let me catch up on some backlog!
Streets of Rage 4 is brilliant btw, highly recommend trying it!
And i'll take Dredge tomorrow!
Wow PSVR2 finally getting games on the service.
Cool.spongebob and streets of rage 4 is a nice addition.word up son
Please can you split what's on Extra and what's on Premium on that list so I don't get my hopes up for summat I won't be able to access?
They have locked the VR2 titles to Premium members only which strikes me as a little dirty. I won't be upgrading.
Now that's a bad month. Dredge is the only game on that whole list that's worth caring about. GTA SA will probably leave again next month.
@Jenny_Jones yes will finally get round to playing Dredge. My foremd raved about it when it cane out but I had a few games I was playing at the time
Not the flashiest Essential month but I'll try Streets of Rage in co-op with friends and may give AEW a try.
Excellent news on the VR front, I have some of the titles on offer here but I was keen to try walk about golf and hopefully we continue to get PSVR2 titles moving forward!
PS. don't sleep on Dredge, great game as is SoR4!!!
Soo many PSVR2 games. I'm going to have to get the PSVR2 out of it's box to see if it's fixed itself.
Will the PS2 games have trophies the same as the PS1 games?
I bought AEW a while ago, so guess I'll sell it on.
Great to see some PSVR2 games shoved in there. I own them already but good to see some support for it.
Jesus Christ PSVR2 games! Fantastic!!! So pleased about this. Plus I only have 2 of them for now. Will definitely give ghost busters and synth riders a go, plus Walking dead 2 is awesome but I need to finish 1 first. So happy about this.
It won’t make me renew Premium, because VR games are almost all very very cheap anyway, so it’s not worth a Premium prescription, but it would make me renew at essential level. Until I have to decide on that I’m happy seeing them starting to come to the service, even if making it premium is a bit stingy.
Essential is crap of course.
FINALLY PS2 GAMES.
For the ones saying that is a good lineup for Essential, are YOU OK?! SquarePants and a fishing game? You guys have to be joking, for real. Great if that’s your thing, they might appeal to you, but overall quality of the lineup in general terms is laughable. You guys just like anything.
Do we know yet if these PS2 games will be available for individual purchase, a la the PS1 Classics selection?
Just bloody bought Dredge too 🤣
Farewell, my PS+ subscription. We had hell of a ride since 2019, but I can't afford paying for air anymore.
@Anng people will shell for anything bro 😭
How do you manage to put out this article without even mentioning that PSVR2 titles are available for the first time?
I'm playing through Dave the Diver right now so I cannot wait to try Dredge. I feel like I slept on Dave the Diver. If you have not played that one do yourself a favour and play that game.
On a different note, I find it crazy, that with the number of free games offered every month, over 2 different release windows, everyone cannot find something to entertain themselves for 20 bucks worth of time.
Doesn't anyone like anything anymore? What games are people playing that are so much better? What games are on people's want lists that could make Playstation+ better for them?
They increased the cost to give us worse games. They aren't bad ones, but somehow everyone seems happy to pay more money for minimal benefits..
How is it possible that just every single fortnight is terrible on PS Plus (all tiers) after the enormous price hike? Do they want us to quit?
If i could be bothered to get the vr back out ...would be a good month I guess ...but I think my time with it has passed...probably should sell it
@get2sammyb Not to quibble, but the reviews on this very site awarded the Essential tier games scores of 6, 5, and 7 respectively. I agree that the other tiers have some great stuff (All who have not need to play Dredge!), and mileage may vary on the Essential games among all, even Push Square staff.
But the post you were responding to was about the Essential tier this month, and the scores for these games here show why a bunch of folks would find it underwhelming.
Thanks for the great content here-this is the best place for PS news!
@AdamNovice
Gonna be hoping for Dragon Quest 8 personally.
Been wanting to play Streets of Rage 4 for years. Maybe its time to get that 2nd controller for some couch co op?
@Johnny_Ace Streets of Rage 4 is awesome. Well worth it for this month if you haven't played it.
Streets Of Rage looks worth a check out. Spongebob might be OK. 'Mercain Wrestling? Oof - that's bad.
One of the truly crappiest Essential selections I can remember in a VERRRRRRY long time and that’s saying something considering Sony’s track record. The rest aren’t all that either, although, LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is pretty good.
Really happy with AEW, been wanting to try (but not buy) for ages. Should be a blast, if it's any good I'll buy dlc. Nice to see more psvr2 games on there. Seems the least they can do for all those who dropped big money on it, myself included.
@invictus4000 streets of rage is a blast with couch co op. Not so much solo.
Woah! Cricket 24 just in time for T20 World Cup. Totally unexpected but pleasantly surprised.
Essential is utter garbage.
Very decently satisfied with these. Dredge, SoR4, San Andreas and maybe Spongebob?
Some VR games, that I shall definitely give a go.
Love coming here every month and seeing the varied responses from "Great month" to "trash". Can't please everyone, but Dredge, Streets of Rage 4 and GTA: San Andreas make this a good month for me.
At least Streets of Rage 4... been waiting for that for years...
@Johnny_Ace who are you and why have you copied my name?! 🤣
Wow, I won't even bother putting the essential games in my library, which I almost always do, even if its not my cup-o-tea. The only other games I didn't add in the past were MMO type games like Destiny which I do not play.
Very very happy with AEW and Streets of Rage 4
Best month in a long long time
@Leeg I’m guessing it’s cos Liam isn’t a big fan of PSVR2 (to put it mildly)
Possibly the worst month I’ve ever seen.
@Hamst88 It seems that way. Not very professional though is it? They also haven’t reviewed a SINGLE PSVR2 game since March despite there being some excellent releases including Madison. Yet they’ll be the first to publish a PSVR2 is dead article.
@ATaco Couldn't argue with that.
SoR is only interesting when played as couch co-op. Probably one of the last game where you can do that ... SoR2 was the best though, Megadrive memories....
All the PS2 games AND the PSVR2 games are for the Premium level only - the way you list them imply they're for Extra as well as Premium.
@Leeg Yep, their very first “Psvr2 is doomed” article came just 4 weeks or so after its launch!! 🤣🤣 You’ll never guess who wrote that one…
To be fair though, Aaron did an excellent interview on the PS you tube channel with Gamertag VR - a really balanced reflection on its first year - both pros and cons.
Own SOR4 and AEW already but are really fun games. I still play AEW. Will try Ghostbusters on PSVR2. Walking Dead and Synth Riders were day 1 purchases for me. Not a bad lineup at all.
Streets of rage is a good one for me. I played both games to death on my mega drive.. rest of the games are kack.
Streets of Rage 4 is a GOAT for me. If anyone has a passing interest in beat 'em ups it's a must play.
Otherwise, I'm interested in Dredge and that's it.
@Leeg 100% agreed
I honestly can't remember the last time I played a game from PS Plus on any tier.
So glad I let My yearly sub lapse. Just not worth it save for a few random gems every now and then that can be enjoyed with just one time monthly sub if I see fit.
Some nice additions for us VR users
Don't sleep on walkabout as its really good fun
Bring on the Poll so we can properly express our opinions on the current offer, without the use of improper words
Good month for me. AEW I'm pleased is free otherwise I may have not have played it. Streets of rage 4 was on gamepass and I missed it, so I'm happy I can play now!
GTA could be interesting, if they don't remove it a month or so in much like other rockstar games.
Oy, I only have a handful of games for PS VR2, but the ones offered are the ones I own. Bad luck, I guess.
I'll claim Fight Forever only because I'm an AEW fan and maybe someday they'll have even remotely close to their whole roster on there. It has too many issues to ever consider paying for it.
As for the other two, nah. They already gave away the good Spongebob game and I already own Streets of Rage 4. If you have any interest at all in that game and haven't bought it yet, that is the one gem of the coming month on Essential.
I'm so dropoing my sub to the lowest tier now I only play Helldivers 2 online and if any games I'm playing are on premium I'll just buy them when their cheap.
I hope this doesnt mean that were done with ps1 games.
Pretty much everything that's good in the ps1 library still isnt on premium.
Super glad that we have ps2 games coming tho, hopefully ps3 games too?
With all those free vr games put the psvr 2 on sale Sony. Streets of rage is good as only have it on switch.
Just checked it is on sale 😅. Mighty tempted if they would release some other big titles.
This is one of the worst months for me since I subscribed a few years ago — a cartoon game, a wrestling game, and a fighting game? Ugh.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I wish Playstation would either drop the price of Essential by cutting out the games, or have subscribers pick 3 games out of a wide selection of genre options.
Well, that's going to go down like a turd in a water strike
@JonnyAces haha I've had this username since PSN on PS3 so I'd say at least 15 years. But happy to share it with you 😜
@get2sammyb pretty sure you're being sarcastic and I can see the benefit most months even when everyone complains but this one is just plain bad with games that are mostly poorly received and appeal to very few.
Wouldn't be surprised to see the announcement for the showcase on Wednesday. They must be making room for big news tomorrow, but we'll see..
@MiaowMinx You mean like that time they got hacked and gave everyone a choice for games to have
@Kraven it is my second favourite beat em up game of all time, first place for me goes to Final Vendetta. Third place? Strangers on the Amiga 1200 CDROM. Yeaaah.
Not the greatest month, sure, but I feel people have a wrong idea of what PS Plus is for. If you're expecting lots of (recent) AAA games, then you're bound to be disappointed. But if you treat it as a way to explore smaller, less well-known games you might not otherwise play, then it's a really great service. For example, recently I've played and enjoyed Sea of Stars, The Last Stop, Tinykins, Call of the Sea and others - many of which I probably wouldn't have paid for.
This month, Dredge is the standout example - and for what amounts to a few pounds/dollars a month, how is this not very good value?
Normally I come on here defending the line up but I think this could be the worst month ever.
Street of rage is the saving grace but a 5/10 wrestling game and sponge bob. I cant defend either this month.
I'm happy with it. Played SoR4 on the old psnow and was wanting to play it again but not buy it outright! Also never played the original Sly Cooper so I'll give that a try.
