Ubisoft's free-to-play shooter XDefiant has gotten off to a better start than many expected it to, and now it appears the French publisher has big plans for supporting it post-launch. According to datamining efforts that have looked into the game's files on PC, there are already plans for many more factions based on Ubisoft characters. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry: New Dawn, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six: Siege have all been supposedly discovered.
Furthermore, there are also apparently mentions of all-new factions based on The Crew and the Rabbids games. New game modes are also said to be ready, such as Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Infection. Additional weapons in future seasons may include turrets, an RC car, and a Tommy gun.
The game already has multiple factions in the game based on other Ubisoft franchises such as Watch Dogs, The Division, and Splinter Cell. All natural fits for an FPS, it'll be interesting to see how the likes of The Crew and the Rabbids are handled, if the datamine is true.
In our XDefiant PS5 review, we awarded a 7/10 rating and praised its "back-to-basics gameplay". We said: "XDefiant is a solid shooter that will likely scratch that arcade-y itch with its snappy gunplay, iconic map design, and fan-favourite game modes. It’s the perfect multiplayer shooter to chuck on at the weekend, and we suspect it’ll be home to several late-night sessions for old-school Call of Duty fans."

Good to see some moderate success for the developers. Ubisoft deserved a bit of a break. I really don't want to see any more lay-offs within the industry
They should fix the ***** hit detection first it's been bad since the first beta and it's still pretty poor you either melt people in a few bullets or it takes a full clip no consistency. Apart from that the game is actually pretty decent.
As weird as it sounds I actually can better picture what the Rabbids will be like as opposed to the Crew. After all the Rabbids were in two tactics games with the Mario + Rabbids games. The interesting thing there will be what character models they use since well its weird bunny rabbit looking things as opposed to people. 😄
As for the Crew I have no clue what that will be like so that's intriguing. Hopefully we see some of these at the Ubisoft Forward.
this is actually a good idea , devs should start making something like a marvel cinematic universe with their IPs . Add skins and levels from different games
Infection but you turn into Rabbids would be an absolutely chaotic yet perfect idea.
@Korgon The 5-10 MC from The Crew 1 would be a safe bet. They'll be the speedfreaks, with their ults being the RC car and being able to remove the enemy teams access to xDefiant lol
The hit detection needs fixing but I’ve been really enjoying this actually. Rabbids are a blight on humanity but eh, give them a plunger gun and it’ll be crazy.
I deleted it this weekend after getting fed up with the hit registration and imbalance of the powers. Good luck to 'em.
Loving it so far, really having a lot of fun in this pre-season
Being matched against no-lifers in my 1st match ever (shotgun jump spam, 1 shot sniper jump spam) made me delete it LOL
@TechaNinja Doesn’t the welcome playlist use SBMM? After a match or two it should stabilise, I get decent games almost every time now despite my first match ever being full of some proper 2012 level sniper camps and quickscopes.
Played it last night with friends and we were pleasantly surprised how good it played.
We even bought the battle pass so definitely going to keep playing.
@nessisonett Yeah but I shouldn't be a level 1 against people in there 10's and 20's.
@TechaNinja It’s early days, the welcome playlist is more just to get easy games for those that are still quite early on. You get experience for doing everything too, so it’s not as much of an indicator of skill. Better to give it a few games to see if it calms down!
