Just over a week out from the actual tournament, EA Sports FC 24's promised Euro 2024 update is dropping on the 6th June. As was previously announced, this'll be a free update that adds the aforementioned competition to the game's existing roster of events.
In typical EA Sports fashion, the whole thing is fully licensed, so you can expect a realistic representation of the tournament. Well, until you decide to go ahead and win it with Scotland (for the record, we're genuinely interested in doing this).
Might you be returning to FC 24 to get your hands on the Euro 2024 trophy? Feel free to throw out some predictions for the actual competition in the comments section below.

I remember back in the day they used to release these as a full priced new game.
As much as I dislike EA' antics sometimes, I have to give them credit for doing this as a free update again
@Member_the_game I actually have fond memories of the South Africa 2010 game on PS3.
Will probably download this just to play the tournament through a few times.
Time to take the silverware home to Scotland! Always enjoyed the standalone games actually, as much as the free updates are nice, they do lack the extra layer of atmosphere and the unique modes you got in the other games. Dead excited to watch us finish 3rd in the group with a win against Germany but dreadful performances against Hungary and Switzerland!
@Jey887
When I think of the 2010 tournament the first thing that springs to mind is those dreadful Vuvuzelas.
I'm going to assume the game didn't include them 😂
@Member_the_game The 2010 game was brilliant. I can’t remember if the vuvuzelas were as prominent as they were in real life but the party atmosphere blew FIFA 10 out of the water, it looks so bland in comparison. Just simple changes to the crowds and the confetti with all the pomp of the World Cup made them way more interesting. That was kinda missing from the World Cup mode last year and the Women’s World Cup.
If by Home you mean Portugal, yes...yes it is.
Looking forward to seeing the back of Gareth Southgate after this tournament.
@AFCC I feel like people are overlooking Portugal. All the conversation is around England, France, Germany... And while that makes sense, Portugal's squad is deadly in its own right. And as an LFC fan, I'd love to see Jota have a great tournament.
@Jey887 I stopped at 2006 FIFA World Cup. The arcady feeling and the "star players" who had kind of superpowers was really fun.
After that, the games went full on simulation mode and I couldn't keep up.
I can't remember which one it was, but the world cup game where you could press square (I think) in the menu to hear any nation's anthem was fantastic. For pure nostalgia reasons nothing for me will ever beat Fifa 98 Road to World Cup.
@Maaster89 Yep I got World Cup 98 as one of my first PlayStation games, I played it so much for years - Chumbawumba Tubthumping and that bass-heavy music-only song are both burned into my brain as the menu music.
Also I wasn't yet a teenager the swearing in Tubthumping somehow made it feel grown up (despite GTA being in my collection lol)
I drew Belgium in the work sweepstakes so I may load it up and go win it with KDB and co.
@nessisonett
Yeah admittedly the last free world cup update we got did feel like something was missing so I know what you mean.
That said though I still never thought it was worth a full priced release, it was essentially the same game just with National squads. Maybe worth picking up if you hadn't already bought the main game
I know some smart arse (and I dont mean yourself) will come back with "Huh, FIFA is basically the same game released every year so what difference does it make"
I actually really miss the stand-alone releases.
Never understood the "it's not worth it" rethoric. If it's not worth it to you, don't buy it then. Personally i really enjoyed them for quite a few reasons.
For example, the World Cup games made all possible national teams available, not just the ones that qualified.
Both WC and Euro games had comprehensive qualification "road to glory" modes.
They also felt more arcade-y, so easier to play with friends/family that aren't usually into sports games, but are excited for the tournaments.
And they always had all the stadiums in the competition.
It's unreasonable to ask for all of this in an after-season expansion/update. Hence why i believe the old separate release model was much better.
@Jey887 I think it did have them actually, but you could toggle them off (which any sane person would do).
Could be misremembering though, it's been a while....
Great free update ,looking forward to it ,I think France and Portugal will be there or thereabouts to winning it ,i don't think England will win it because of the defence , England have got goals by the bucket load but most of the time you have to be pretty solid at the back as well to win these major tournaments but really looking to a fantastic festival of football and at the end of the day if liecester
If leicester city can win Premier league then anyone can win the euros with abit of luck and the rest that goes with it
And by the way I thought leicester were Incredible that season I'm not a leicester fan but hats off to them
@Member_the_game It’s a hard one where it’s a bit difficult to justify these days as a full game but the free version isn’t the same level of quality. Like we used to get every FIFA nation in the old games, I still remember the many attempts I made at trying to win the World Cup with San Marino in the 2006 game. I played the 98 game a couple years back on the PS1 (as Scotland ofc) and I ended up against St Vincent and the Grenadines in the final cause the crazy algorithm makes the game far more fun. Perhaps they could make them a mini release for £20 or so but it’s EA so I doubt it.
Bellingham gonna carry England to glory! No surrender!
Free EA update wasn't on my bingo card. The long fargone days, I still did buy FIFA games, I waited for WC or EC editions. See. if they want they can be nice to their customers.
What's you guys top 3 for winning the Cup?
Brons, Silver & Gold (final)
I'll defintely be playing this over the next couple of weeks. Might give the new hard mode a go (aka Albania)
@Pusher2021 Current guess is Portugal 4th, England 3rd, Croatia 2nd and France 1st. If France and England win their groups, they’ll meet in Semi 2 and I just don’t see France letting this slip. I know Croatia are in a group with Spain and Italy but Croatia have bizarre plot armour through essentially sheer will. Italy and Spain are far more likely to lose their heads and, speaking as a Scotland fan, we beat Spain once and lost the second in a game with contentious decisions so I really don’t think they’ll go that far.
I always enjoyed the standalone FIFA World Cup games, too, although I do enjoy these free updates and I do think it's good value as part of the "live service".
Looking forward to this new mode!
I'm glad, but surprised that EA don't charge anything extra for this. 😂
