Helldivers 2's latest Major Order presents something of a moral quandary. With limited time on the clock and an army of bots bearing down, players must choose between saving the thousands of civilians trapped on Vernen Wells, inside "Super Citizen Anne's Hospital for Very Sick Children", or liberating the rare materials required to produce the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines stratagem that has eluded the community for some time now.
It's a classic take on the infamous trolley problem, and it will be fascinating to see which way the community goes. Obviously, very sick children are to be pitied, but will they thank you when a Bile Titan inevitably devours them? Consider the greater good here: many more will die unless new, more explosive ways to destroy the enemies of Super Earth are found. Of course, the beauty of Liberty is the freedom to choose, but we all know how this one is going to end. To celebrate, PlayStation UK mocked up this artist's depiction of the philosophical quagmire the community now finds itself in:
What do you choose, saving the children or another weapon in Democracy's arsenal? Ponder this moral dilemma in the comments section below.

I hope this goes on long enough for me to sign on and fight for the children.
The kids are just doing their part.
Why don’t the children have guns? What is this galaxy coming to?
Anne could open a ward in her hospital for children maimed by tank mines then everyone wins.
How about children made of anti-tank mines?
Those sick children are future Helldivers. I hope the community saves them. We will get the mines eventually.
I say the children are alot of hard work and mines blow sh** up.
Plenty of time for making babies after the war is over.
Just incase you didn't know I say save the mines!!!
While the children are diverting attention away from the resources it makes sense to honor their sacrifice for the greater good..Those kids are doing their part for democracy..(I'm going for the mines.)
If we save the kids, we’ll get something better than the mines - which we’ll also still get anyway.
Video games 101.
Save the kids. Many more Helldivers die to friendly mines than automaton scum, so it's a false choice. Kids are the future of our Managed Democracy, saving them will likely yield other benefits, such as an increase to liberation rates across all campaigns.
It's pretty simple. Children and citizens are human beings, meaning they still have a chance to survive one way or another. Materials won't go anywhere on their own, and we must secure the materials at all costs, or there will be more hospitals to save in the future!
@Northern_munkey only real answer. Mines will help us to stop automatons before there are more hospitals like this to be saved if they won't be stopped.
Where going for the kids but tomorrow (Thursday) is big patch day which we hope will fix a crap load of stuff. From the spear reticle issue to the Mechs been rubbish when firing missiles to reversing some nerf to Warbond weapons hopefully.
I how to also see some cut downs on some strategems especially the orbital rail cannon strike for a one shot not guaranteed instant kill to a Bile Tital it's cooldown is far too dam high
My gang of helldivers are (in our head canon) from Marfark, so there's no question about which planet we are liberating first. Dudes gotta go free their home planet first. We have family there.
@Khayl, the children were saved and Arrowhead made a large donation to the Save the Children charity! There should be an article about this, so more people are aware of how awesome Arrowhead is.
