Capcom has out of nowhere announced its giving the classic open world zombie game Dead Rising a second remaster, with a release set for this year. Officially named Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, the game originally launched as an Xbox 360 exclusive in 2006 before receiving a basic remaster 10 years later on PS4. This new Deluxe Remaster appears to be a more substantial overhaul given the name. Check out the announcement trailer above.

Footage focuses on Frank West's arrival at Willamette Parkview Mall, and perhaps the main standout is the protagonist has a new voice actor. We don't know who yet, but it appears TJ Roloto hasn't reprised his role as Frank. Posting for the first time since 2018, the official Dead Rising Twitter account said: "Hello? Is this thing on? This is Frank! Frank West! Is anyone out there? Grab your camera and prepare for the big scoop on Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Stay tuned for more info soon!"

There are very few other official details released by Capcom, other than the trailer description that pitches the Deluxe Remaster as "an updated release with a brand new look". A PS5 version isn't explicitly mentioned, but a release on PlayStation consoles is pretty much a certainty. Are you excited to return to the original Dead Rising with a modern look?
