The next major Honkai: Star Rail update is coming 31st July, and it’s taking the Trailblazer back to the Xianzhou Luofu. Yeah, we know, we didn’t like the story much there either – but there’s an opportunity to start afresh here, as the Wardance Ceremony gets underway. This storyline is set to span two full updates, so you better get used to the idea of spending quite a lot of time on the Chinese-themed airship.

“The Wardance festival commemorates the Reighbow Arbiter and the Cloud Knight's victory against the Abominations of Abundance,” the press release teases. “This year's Wardance aims to uplift the spirits of Luofu residents after the recent crisis and arrives as an invitation to allies and friends in a gesture of peace and hospitality.”

Two new 5-star characters will be introduced as part of the update: a Physical-type Destruction character named Yunli, and Jiaoqiu, who’s a Fire-type Nihility hero. The latter tandems nicely with Acheron, as he uses his Ashen Roast debuff to inflict enemies with burn damage, which can be stacked over time.

Perhaps most exciting of all, though, March 7th will be getting her new sword-wielder makeover. Available for free through story progression, this new Hunt path for the Astral Express member will see her offering her allies boba, which will increase their speed and adjust her style depending on who you partner her with. A new event, with manga-style comic panels, will allow you to earn her Eidolons.

Elsewhere, a new event will see you engaging in a Pokémon Snap-style minigame where you need to photograph trash cans in an on-rails type environment. Another combat event will see you recruiting trash cans to your cause, with abilities inspired by the characters in your party. And there’ll be the usual offering of free pulls and multiplied materials.

We should also mention that a new environment on the Xianzhou Luofu will be unlocked as part of the storyline, with The Shackling Prison playing host to a brand new batch of wolf-type enemies. There’s lots to look forward to in Honkai: Star Rail, then, even if this does feel like something of a filler update for now.
