The upcoming film adaptation of Gearbox Studios' Borderlands is inching ever closer, arriving in cinemas on 9th August. Starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, we aren't seeing much buzz for this one, but perhaps this "final trailer" will light a fire under all of you dormant Vault Hunters out there.
In this telling, infamous bounty hunter Lillith (Blanchett) returns to the unruly planet of Pandora, searching for the lost daughter of galaxy-spanning arms manufacturer Atlas. Along the way, she encounters mercenary Roland (Heart), pre-teen sadist Tiny Tina and her protector, Krieg, as well as eclectic scientist Tannis and wisecracking robot Claptrap (Black). Hijinks will almost undoubtedly ensue.
While we've seen some complaints about the casting, we don't know what people want from a Borderlands film in the first place, if not zany antics, toilet humour, and explosive action setpieces. It will be interesting to see how this one performs when it hits the big screen, but we don't imagine it will set the world on fire.
Are you looking forward to the Borderlands film? Has this last look done the trick and convinced you? Let us know in the comments section below.

This will be a summer movie of the year.
This will definitely be a movie this year.
Uhh... this is certainly gonna be... something...
@Frmknst You're saying that this isn't worse than John Wick 4 and Dune Part 2? What?
Aaahh a good old b-movie sci-fi flick for that rainy Sunday afternoon when you just want to turn off your brain and escape for a couple of hours. Looks like it's going to be mindless fun and will probably be crap but I'm in..
I can wait until it hits home video, but I’ll definitely check it out then unless it turns out to be ‘Madame Web’ level bad.
Nothing against the actress, I'm sure she's fantastic but couldn't they get someone younger to play Lilith 🙁
Definitely a wait for Netflix film for me
I thought it looks fun, more fun than the game where i got bored after playing it for an hour or two...well except Tales From the Borderlands. That one was pretty fun.
Not a chance I'm wasting my free cinema ticket on this rather wait till it comes to streaming
Go see Twisters. I never see movies but Twisters was just a good old time. classic 90's style movie.
whose the target audience?
and kevin hart as roland is a joke no pun intended and disrespectful to the character. trash at acting & trash comedian, smh
@Tecinthebrain She's too old to play this character. Like you say I have nothing against her personally, but Lilith should not look like someone's aunt at Comiccon. What a weird choice.
@DETfaninATL Home video?? What year do you live in kind sir?
I will watch it just because I have a lot of love for the franchise but I'm not expecting much tbh.
Wondering how many minutes of the film will be characters standing still examining the dozens of weapons they've just looted?
File under "just because you can, doesn't mean you should"
I'm extremely interested in the mindset of anyone who could willingly tolerate watching this.
It's especially depressing to see someone of Cate Blanchett's caliber being reduced to starring in something so worthless.
@nomither6 I couldn't agree more!!! I was always envisioning Samuel L. Jackson playing Roland as soon as I heard they were making a film. Roland is definitely not a comical character smh
I will reserve judgment for the toxic comment section on IGN
Anything with Kevin Hart in It these days I avoid usually a bad movie
Claptrap and krieg good choices then they gave up after them two
@WolfyTn LOL. Showing my age w that comment, eh? 😂😂😂 You know what I meant tho. 😉
Looks a little lame to me. I'll wait until it streams.
I love Borderlands, so I will go and see it with an open mind, just to see the world realised.
The casting is way out though. Why they needed Jack Black to do the voice of Claptrap and not the original voice artist, I have no idea.
