EA Sports WRC, the latest officially licensed rally racing game, has just lifted the lid on what's in store over the coming months. The roadmap outlines upcoming new content through to spring 2025, and it includes some major expansions and DLC that bring the game up to date with the real-world motorsport.
Most importantly, October will see the release of the 2024 Season Expansion. This premium DLC adds new locations, rally stages, vehicles, liveries, and more, bringing EA Sports WRC in line with the current real-world season. A new bundled version of the game that includes the season expansion will also become available in October.
If you purchase the season expansion, you'll also gain access to two further DLC packs, set to release in winter 2024 and spring 2025. Each of these "themed" packs will bring even more new cars, stages, moments, and more. If you don't buy the season expansion, these DLC packs will also be available to purchase individually.
Before all that is Season 6 of the Rally Pass, which goes live on 30th July. As you'd expect, this grants you access to a series of unlockable cosmetics, although the way these rewards are doled out has changed somewhat. Rather than spread out a matching set of cosmetics for your driver, these will be grouped together. Additionally, you'll be able to unlock car liveries for classes other than Rally1.
It appears that the season expansion and subsequent DLCs are coming instead of a whole new game, which makes sense given EA Sports WRC doesn't have a year attached to its title like the publisher's other annual sport series. This seems like a good approach to us, though of course the jury's still out on the content of the updates. Here's hoping they provide a solid foundation for another year of the game.

Just here to praise the sub-heading.
@CrashBandicoat recently got in the sale on Xbox series X and itโs terrible yeah. Iโm usually not bothered by little issues but the screen issues were so noticeable it was off putting. I assume it same on ps5 only got it on Xbox as it was cheaper at the time.
Here is the roadmap for the first DLCs:
August... DLC wheels of Lancia Stratos
September... DLC engine of Lancia Stratos
October... DLC chassis of Lancia Stratos
@CrashBandicoat @Stocksy nope it's all silky smooth on the ps5. I bought this in a sale not long ago and I'm loving it. Using a thrustmaster T150 but I'm upgrading my wheel setup soon. I can't wait for this expansion.
What they should be doing is fix the game. I got the platinum trophy because I really love rally games, but oh boy this game stutters and glitches all over the place. Embarrassing coming from such a big publisher.
@Northern_munkey no itโs not.
@Avocado89 sorry buddy but it runs flawlessly for me. Not had one crash or stutter as far as I can see and I've been playing it religiously for well over a month now..
@Avocado89 update 1.5.1 fixed the stuttering and improved the force feedback in steering wheels plus a lot of other niggles. I've never played it before that update but I'm assuming you played earlier versions..maybe try the latest build ๐
@Northern_munkey Iโm sorry for my hasty reply, as Iโve been very emotionally troubled with this game. I got my plat months ago so I might have missed a performance patch, but the once that came out when I played did not help much. Maybe I will try it again thanks
@Avocado89 no worries. I'm just loving attacking the leader boards. The career mode is OK but the online time challenges are where its at.
Iโve been playing it a lot recently on Series X and it doesnโt stutter at all now. Yes, when I first played it around 6 months ago it stuttered occasionally but theyโve fixed it now.
Yeah WRC runs great on PS5. Not 100% perfect but that's fine. I've read that the optimization on PC is still clunky though.
@Northern_munkey
Then youโre not playing all modes. Iโm on PS5 too and still there is screentear, pop-in etcetera. The gameplay is great btw, but it looks like a ps3 titel.
@Hypoman A PS3 title, seriously....
@Hypoman personally I can't see anything that detracts from the experience. Yes there is some pop in and I'd be lying otherwise but I've not noticed any screen tear at all..I am playing all game modes it's just i mainly play the online leader board challenges..
@Northern_munkey And the driving requires so much attention that you don't have the privilege to see that tree popping up in the background 10 km away...
@B0udoir exactly so what the hell are you doing if you are noticing the pop in? You must be driving at snails pace just so you can notice the little imperfections. As in looking like a ps3 game? You really need your eyes checked if you think this resembles a ps3 game. Granted its not the greatest looking rally game out there but (and this is the important bit) it is one of the best rally experiences out there. WRC generations looks a lot better but the controls are very sketchy even with a steering wheel and yes I was playing that before I got EA's wrc. The controls in EA's wrc are infinitely more tunable thus making it the more intuitive of the 2 titles. You could argue that dirt rally 2.0 is easily the better of the 3 but if you don't have a steering wheel you will struggle to control those cars. I recently reinstalled dirt 2.0 to see if I could actually drive in the game without smashing my car to bits and with the steering wheel it was so much better although still a tough experience. Is EA's wrc perfect? No it's not but it's no where near as bad as others are making out. And incidently I was commenting on how smooth the game was now without the stuttering issues and frame rate drops which is why I didn't purchase it day one. Ps3 game my arse.
@B0udoir didn't mean to rant at you..that other nit wit really got me biting..sorry bud ๐
@B0udoir
Apart from the 30fps. I just played Dirt 3 for a while and i was amazed! You have to understand that i LIKE EA WRC, but visually it is a big step back.
@Northern_munkey
Gameplay is absolutly great! But i expected a much greater looking game. On PS5 that isโฆ.
I haven't played it since before the last update. I play on PS5 and if your TV has VRR it's silky smooth with it enabled.
@Northern_munkey
Hahaha yeah, i am a nit. ๐
I also like to watch the replay so i can evaluate my driving. In the replays the pop-in en tearing is really present. It still is one of the better Rally games (RBR is king) and i love the long stages. Maybe my hopes were too high about the graphics? โบ๏ธ
@Hypoman to be honest it's not the best looking ps5 game but it certainly is not the worst. I can forgive graphics that are a bit dated looking so long as it's responsive and that's the most important thing in a driving game and this game delivers in spades. Look at EA's Road to the masters as another point of reference. The graphics in that game are not great and certainly not what I expected from a ps5 game but the controls (now it has a 60fps option) are sublime and it plays so well. Maybe we are not that different really in terms of what we expect and maybe I've been a bit harsh in my responses but I do get ticked off a bit when people just seem to rubbish games without actually playing them first. At least you have played it so it was rude of me to just dismiss your opinion.๐
@Northern_munkey Dirt Rally 2 has more warm graphics, with attention to small details like water or dirt effects, your copilot, etc... WRC Rally is more about large landscapes with cool sunset over the beach, the villages on top of mountains, etc .. But yeah, as you mentioned, the driving sensation are much better in WRC Rally. Dirt Rally 2 is probably too realistic to be fun, at least for me.
