Fans of Ai Yazawa’s iconic mangas Nana and Paradise Kiss will take an immediate liking to Infinity Nikki, the upcoming free-to-play fashion-based RPG from Infold Games. Not to be confused with Stellar Blade developer Shift Up’s saucy NIKKE: Goddess of Victory, this is an exploration-based adventure where different outfits grant unique abilities.
In this ChinaJoy 2024 stage presentation, played by two cosplayers and captured by Gematsu, we get to see a full dungeon being played on PS5. While this library-like environment isn’t new, it’s the first time we’ve seen the PlayStation port in action, as all previous footage has focused on the PC release. It’s looking polished and smooth at this stage.
While the gameplay isn’t the best due to the players’ lack of familiarity with the mechanics, it’s easy to imagine how this release could grow and evolve over time. With the costume system granting different abilities, there’s no limit to the gameplay possibilities here, as protagonist Nikki is basically a blank slate. In this demo she can glide and shoot, but the developer could add more ideas over time.
While there’s no confirmed release date attached to this project, a beta is due later in the year. As big fans of Style Savvy and Fashion Dreamer, it’s nice to see a title of this ilk coming to PlayStation – especially when there’s never been anything quite like it on PS5 or PS4 before.

NGL, I'm curious about this one. Will be checking out the beta.
I've been playing some of the older Nikki games on my phone in preparation and they're pretty fun. I really love all the costume designs.
It was the most watched trailer from the last SoP which goes to show that there's a much wider audience out there that Sony has to cater too outside of hardcore single player only bubble.
@AdamNovice Totally agree! PS2 era Sony was so good at this, and I understand with PS3 they had to go back to basics, but it may be good to see them stretch their legs a little more now with PS5. (Although without abandoning the core fans, of course!)
@AdamNovice probarbly only to see what the jiggle effects were like. Thats why i watched it anyway 😂🤷
Very excited for this one!
This looks different and fun. I'm looking forward to trying this one once it gets here!
Looking good although I wish this as normal single player games rather than free to play. I think now we can safely say that china AAA gaming will be even bigger in the future and genshin impact is not just some one time success 😃
I thought this looked great and was the most interesting "Nintendo-ish" thing I've seen on a PS show in a long time short of Astrobot. But once I saw it's an F2P gatcha, all interest vanished completely. They always ruin the good ones....
@Kidfunkadelic83 Well you are human
@NEStalgia This is the most Nintendo Switch looking game I’ve ever seen not on Switch. “Princess Peach Explores the GatchaStation” will be some reviewers subtitle.
The next “Stellar Blade” should be a free to play rogue lite Souls like Metroidvania and it will be the last game we ever need. Or get, humanity’s extinction feels nigh.
@rjejr I can't imagine why Sony's struggling to move $500 machines to play gatcha games on. No idea at all...
Oh wow I didn't even think of the raw money involved....Soulslike games with a gatcha twist. And you pay real money every time you respawn at the campfire. That's the future, isn't it?
Unfortunately humanity is a virus-like parasite. Humanity will never go extinct, just 98% of its population will be wiped out via its own stupidity. Like when you spray an ant colony with Raid, and it seems like they're gone, and then within 2 weeks they're swarming all over again. That's humanity.
The moment I learned that this was a free-to-play title, I went from being genuinely interested in it, to less than zero interest in it.
I'm probably looking forward to this more than I should be!
@NEStalgia " I can't imagine why Sony's struggling to move $500 machines to play gatcha games on. No idea at all... "
Maybe they need some gatcha games on $600 PR VR2. 🤑
I wouldn't say they're "struggling" though, despite the last bad quarter, it's basically in line w/ 115 million seller PS4, and that was back when Sony actually really did know what "generations" meant. 😜

My PS5 is currently used to play Fortnite, Disney Speedstorm, Zenless Zone Zero (now that I finally figured out the convoluted mess that is character leveling up) and Steller Blade which I borrowed from the library. So I'm probably not the best judge.😁
@rjejr PSVR IS a gatcha game! You put a few hundred in each generation and one of these times they'll fully support it and you're a winner!!
It's still sitting below PS4, and that's with Xbox selling worse than Xbox One and almost non-existent in some territories. I.E. Even with competition trailing off, former competitor's customers aren't flocking to PS5, they're simply vanishing from the market. Yeah, they've sold a lot of consoles, though I also wonder how many of those were pandemic impulse buys that don't get used, as software sales are way down, and of course margins are way down.
Sadly with a game list like that, you are the best Judge...that's the sad part, you're now the whole PS market
@NEStalgia " Sadly with a game list like that, you are the best Judge...that's the sad part, you're now the whole PS market "
Yeah this really is a sorry lame excuse for a console generation where each game takes 5 years to make, 10 if you're remaking a 20 year old FF game. 😜 Sony has been living off of 1 game a year, which was Uncharted, GoW, Horizon, Spiderman w/ some Infamous and Ratchet & Clank to keep things flowing, but now it feels like we're just waiting for Wolverine. And like, that's it? 🤷♂️
Ok we know Horizon 3, Spiderman 3 and Ghost of Tsushima 2 are coming, but they haven't been technically announced yet that I'm aware of, so maybe dual releases w/ PS6?🤷♂️
$500 is a lot of money to play all of my PS4 games in 4k w/ faster loading times. I really don't know how they'll sell PS6 b/c I don't see 8k TVs catching on for a long while yet, a lot of cable/steaming TV isn't even caught up to 4k yet. I really don't think I need graphics better than we have now. How much bouncier can boobies get? 🤣
So while I do think PS5 will outsell PS3 and probably break 100mil, so no worries from me there, I really don't know how they sell PS6. Maybe the PS5 Wolverine dlc will be exclusive to PS6 and contain Deadpool voiced by Ryan Reynolds? (Have I ever mentioned that I HATE when dlc is locked behind next gen versions?🤬)
@rjejr Could be worse, Nvidia charges $1600 to play PS4 games in 4k60 with path traced RT, and that's just for the video out.
Yeah, I can't figure out what the future of consoles is. From 1983 to now they've sold them on ever increasing graphics specs. But we've kind of hit a brick wall of diminishing returns and that's clearly not selling generations anymore, and unlike enthusiast PCs I don't see people dumping piles of cash out for +50% improvement and better surface tessellation. It feels like consoles have stalled because silicon in general has stalled. Maybe it's time for a Wii moment of just ditch the GPU and add some waggle stuff and tennis rackets and make it a toy again?
8K even if it catches on, will be utterly meaningless to basically all users. You can say "bigger screens need higher res" but at that sitting distance 4k is more than enough for the distance from screen players are sitting.
There's 2 places where 8k, 12k, 16k will actually matter: Critical graphics work on the desktop (photo work, etc), and VR where at that distance to the eye and magnifying lenses plus the need to supersample larger than the native res to process lens correction require outrageous resolutions to get "equal to real life" resolution. Sony could have pushed hardware power for the next 30 years if they were pushing it to drive ever better VR...........but meanwhile in PSVR land they're abandoning that.
So HTF are they going to sell a $600+ PS6 as a Fortnite machine with 50% better gfx to the masses that never saw a point to the PS5? Weird moment for consoles. I think this gen would have been a lot better with a 1-2 year delay. 2020 was far too early a the current rate of hardware advancement.
"How much bouncier can boobies get?"
You know gaming hardware is in trouble when even soft porn cant sell upgrades.
PS5 is still selling based on PS4 history. I feel like both PS6 and XSY are going to suffer from Sega Saturn syndrome with too many consoles releasing too fast with too little support behind them. The consoles strove so hard to become PCs, and now they have, and like PCs a library from the '00s is good enough to carry you for the next 20 years.
Meanwhile on the software side we continue the slide into F2P games and gatcha money funding. You don't need ever new consoles with large libraries of games to just keep pumping addiction money into a single game, mobile-style. They really ought to change the flagship color of Playstation from blue to red at this point....
It’s legitimately really cool we’re seeing all kinds of games from Chinese devs, as this is quite the unexplored market with tons of potential.
