In case you haven't heard, Baldur's Gate 3 is getting another huge update in September, which has been in the works for a while. And, ahead of the Patch 7's beta testing period on PC, developer Larian Studios has shared additional details on what we can expect from the update.
As was previously revealed, evil characters can look forward to a slew of ending enhancements, including additional cinematics. Official modding tools are being introduced as well, and select mods will make their way to PS5 once everything's up and running.
But the good news doesn't stop there. We've also got confirmation that split screen functionality is being improved thanks to a new 'dynamic' mode that gives you one big screen when characters are close enough to each another. What's more, a bunch of welcome adjustments are being made to all of your favourite party members, squashing character-related bugs and, er, improving certain kissing animations. You know, the important stuff.
We've gathered the main points below, as per Larian's full breakdown.
Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 Details
- Dynamic split screen is being added
- Honour Mode is being made even more challenging
- Numerous enhancements for evil endings, including full cinematics
- Specific bug fixes for all party members
- Party banter improvements and fixes
Oh, and Larian has confirmed that this won't be the last update for Baldur's Gate 3. It writes: " We still have a few things up our sleeve — including many community-requested features like crossplay and a photo mode to capture and share your unforgettable moments. And we’re working on a host of other enhancements, from gameplay tweaks and quality-of-life improvements to bug fixes and performance optimizations."
Baldur's Gate 3 is closing in on its first anniversary, and it's great to see that Larian is still making big improvements to an already outstanding RPG. Are you tempted to start a new playthrough? Set aside 100 hours in the comments section below.

I completed a 300+ hour first playthrough starting the day the full game released. On completion, I realised that I had just played the best game ever made!
Currently, I have a trio playthrough ongoing, which also started the day the game came out, but due to work commitments for one of my mates, we sometimes only get to play once a week, however we are at the backend of the game with little to do now in reality but defeat the last of the three boss enemies, and then the final battle.
I also have a duo run ongoing on Tactician mode, which we started yesterday, and then lastly, I have my own solo run on Tactician mode too, which I started just last week. So I've got a lot going on in what is easily the very best of games...
I’m looking forward to the new evil endings, a year later my first playthrough might get an actual ending to it.
Still no pause kinda baffles me.
N.i.c.e. Baldur's gate 3 is one of the best games ever made.same as the 2 divinity games.word up son
A gift that keeps on giving
@Athrum I spent almost 700 hours playing BG3 and not once did I think "this game needs a proper pause function."
recently passed 600+ hours making it my most played game of all time. And also my favourite game of all time. Now just give us some way of romancing Jaheira and a recruitable/romanceable Alfira pls.
@Athrum You can pause game with turn based mode to achieve the same basic thing at least. But I do agree.
Looks like i have a reason to replay it yet again.
Loved it so much that I plumbed for the physical special edition and bought it twice. I think this is the only game I've ever done that for. Great to see Larian still working on it, and can't wait for cross-play so I can get on with my friends who have it on PC.
Just started playing this after finally receiving my physical edition, and wowza, what a game! The depth of choice in story and combat is just astounding. I wish I could freeze time and play this game for 1,000 hours. See ya never, real world. Baldur’s Gate III 🔥
I thought they were done updating. This is great
Wow, it took more than a year for the dynamic splitscreen co-op to get sorted, and I’m still skeptical couch co-op will function properly. Too late Larian, not buying your games ever again, no matter how acclaimed it is. Take your janky Act 3’s and shove ‘em up where the sun don’t shine.
Photo Mode will just be ***** with this game...

Will wait for the update and a price drop since Windows players got deluxe content for free.
I still have not played BG3, but it’s a game that I want to play eventually. Most of my backlog of high priority games are now completed or done for now. Also, since FF14 Dawntrail was not to my liking, I may have to fill that void with something.
