MultiVersus Dev Player First Games Snagged by Warner Bros 1

MultiVersus would be worthless without developer Player First Games’ alliance with Warner Bros and access to its bottomless intellectual property vault, so it perhaps makes sense that the publisher has put a ring on the independent outfit’s finger and acquired the studio outright. It seems like very little will change at the Los Angeles firm, and co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White will continue to lead the team.

“Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall,” said a much richer Huynh. “We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”

Warner Bros Games bigwig David Haddad added: “We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros Games. The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”

At Evo over the weekend, the developer announced a second season of content for the re-launched MultiVersus, which will include Samurai Jack and Beetlejuice as playable characters. Presumably the game is doing extremely well for Warner Bros to follow through on this acquisition, and thus we can expect many more content updates moving forwards.
