As previously confirmed by Polyphony Digital, the big Gran Turismo 7 1.49 update arrives either later today or very early tomorrow morning depending on your timezone. It brings with it six new cars, the return of Gran Turismo 6 circuit Eiger Nordwand, an updated "physics simulation model", and an expansion of the game's elite AI feature Gran Turismo Sophy, now available on more tracks.
A PlayStation Blog post shares more detail surrounding the enhanced simulation model, revealing how Gran Turismo 7's suspension physics and tyre calculation model should now more naturally shift a car's weight during cornering. "Tyre response has also been improved, along with more realistic tire heating and wear. Look forward to more dynamic car movement and a further polished driving feel." Michelin has also been added as a new tyre maker. Here are some new screenshots of Eiger Nordwand in Gran Turismo 7:
The PS5, PS4 update will go live at 11pm PST on 24th July, which translates to 2am EST / 7am BST on 25th July. The six new cars in patch 1.49 are as follows:
- Ferrari 430 Scuderia (2007)
- BMW M3 (1997)
- Lambroghini Gallardo LP 560-4 (2008)
- Genesis Vision Gran Turismo
- Subaru Impreza Rally Car (1998)
- RUF RGT 4.2 (2016)
As for Gran Turismo Sophy, the title's advanced AI system, you can now test your skills against it on the Nurburgring and the full course version of Autodrome Lago Maggiore. Look out for the purple/pink symbol indicating GT Sophy can be used on the course after the update installs, and you'll be able to race against it.
Patch 1.49 for Gran Turismo 7 also brings with it new Menus to complete at the GT Café, more events to finish first in, and additional Scapes to snap some pictures in. A complete breakdown is available on the PlayStation Blog. Will you boot the game up to check out all this new racing content? Get your car in gear in the comments below.

Cannot wait to see this scenery in VR. Will cruise a bit and then try to complete the track experience.
Lambroghini: The affordable Lamborghini for bros everywhere
This game keeps on giving - great looking update. Time to reinstall.
Can’t wait get my hands on that M3 🔥
@TheAmbienWalrus exactly the same for me pal 100%
GT7 is by far my favorite game this generation. At 140 hours in it’s always got something fun to do. I can’t wait to feel these new physics. Gran Turismo has always been the best feeling racing game since the very beginning in 1998. Can’t wait!
Is it possible to start the game from scratch with a fresh save? Seem to recall it being difficult (or impossible?!) a good while back but not sure as of now...
@willzomg i dont think you can unfortunately. Only way i know of is to create a new account on your PS5. Its a shame as id also like to start again in the future but not with a new account.
@Kidfunkadelic83 @willzomg
Try this, I found it on another website, I did it a while ago and it did work
*How to delete game files on a PS5
When you delete a PS5 game, the data associated with it is saved in case you want to reinstall the game in future. But, if you definitely don’t want to play the game again, you can delete the game file, and free up some extra space, as follows:
Go to the home screen.
Select ‘Settings’.
Select ‘Saved Data and Game/App Settings’.
Choose ‘Saved Data (PS5)’
Select ‘Console Storage’.
Click on ‘Delete’.
Choose the files you want to delete.
Hit ‘Delete’.
Press ‘OK’ to confirm.*
@Member_the_game these saves are serverside saves which you cannot delete. Its bound to your PSN account because of cheaters. Gran Turismo Championships not to mention.
@Kidfunkadelic83 what did you do to me? There I was just minding my own business driving like a lunatic on EA sports wrc and a message pops up saying "have you tried gt7 with your wheel? You'd enjoy it." So I bought it and there goes more of my life..Amazing game and I'm glad I followed your recommendation so once again...thanks mate 👍
If you press menu from the homescreen, whatever game you're hovering in will give you an option to delete save data
@Northern_munkey hey mate, always a pleasure to get a fellow gamer hooked on another game 😂
@LordVile Not GT7 it wont. It might delete offline content but any content that requires online like the menus etc the data is linked to the gamertag. It cant be erased.
Looking great. GT7 is a PSVR2 system-seller for me. I love sim racing and while you can argue that GT7 is more sim-cade, the experience of playing it with a wheel, pedals, a shifter, and PSVR2 is the most fun I've ever had sim racing. I just recently got back into it and I'm having a blast.
The 430 Scuderia is a big win. As is hopefully new tyres wear model
I'm very excited to see how Polyphony will support the Pro, especially in VR.
The game already has a 1080p 120 fps VRR mode (flat), which suggests it's mostly GPU bound. So I'm hoping for a native 90 fps VR mode, which would be fantastic.
@ORO_ERICIUS
I could well be getting confused with Forza horizon on the Xbox
Now just need to grind for weeks to get the cars
