Promise Mascot Agency, the next game from the makers of Paradise Killer, looks very unique in this gameplay deep dive trailer. Announced earlier this year, the game is a management sim of sorts, with the main goal being to build up the titular agency and turn it into a profitable business. Add on top a story about the Japanese underworld and a cursed town, and you have a very intriguing project.

To recap, you play as a disgraced yakuza member who's exiled to a small town in order to repay an enormous debt. You're forced to revive the Promise Mascot Agency, a rundown business on the verge of closure. In this game, mascots are flesh-and-blood creatures that live alongside humanity, each with unique abilities and quirks.

As the video says, you need to travel around the open world town and recruit new mascots to your agency, winning them over by promising certain perks and a decent cut of profits. From there, you can match mascots to jobs as they come in. However, problems may arise as mascots are working, which is when heroes come into the gameplay. To deal with these issues, you engage in turn-based battles using the heroes in your collection to help out the mascots. It seems the game will just escalate from there; you recruit more mascots, send them out on better jobs, earn more money, and so on.

The town is free to explore, as mentioned, and there's plenty to discover as you build up your business — not least of which is that mysterious curse on the town. It seems exploration will be key to finding more mascots and heroes, but also to advance the story and unearth the central mystery.

We're very interested to see how this game pans out when it launches on PS5 and PS4 next year. What do you make of Promise Mascot Agency? Tell us in the comments section below.
