Less than a year after the release of Arizona Sunshine 2, Vertigo Games has announced its next project. Arizona Sunshine Remake brings back the original zombie shooter on modern hardware, coming to PSVR2 on 17th October, 2024.
You can get a glimpse at the remake in the announcement trailer above. This is a ground-up remake of the first game in the series, with the visuals and combat being the main areas receiving major updates. As well as the better graphics and revamped action, the remake includes all DLC and content updates, making it the definitive version of Arizona Sunshine. Oh, and if you own the original, you'll be able to upgrade to the remake for $9.99.
The original version of the game on PSVR was a little clumsy, with poor motion tracking and iffy controls making it difficult to recommend. However, this new version, combined with the far more advanced PSVR2 headset and controllers, should redeem the sun-bleached zombie shooter. We'll certainly find out as Halloween approaches.

Fantastic. Had too much to play to get around to the sequel (not helped by all the PSVR2 games coming to Plus these days) so it’s good I can play this first.
Edit: Are we sure we can just get the original for £3.99 and then pay for the upgrade? You don’t need to buy the Deluxe PS4 edition for £19.99 which has the DLC, to qualify for the upgrade?
The OG is $5 on PSN right now with PS+. (And $11.99 on Quest for another week or so.) With the $10 upgrade, that snags you the updated version for half the asking price (or $5 less than the pre-order price on Quest).
Brilliant game on PSVR1. I’ll be upgrading and playing again
@MFTWrecks I bought the PSVR1 version for 1€ so now I skipped the upgrade price and bought the "full" price preorder one. About time I give them my money as much as I played the original! Still got some PS Plus discount it seems
Nice. The one PSVR game that I've been missing on PSVR2.
Loving the upgrade path option too.
@thefourfoldroot1 I've been in the same boat. I couldn't make time to play the sequel because there were too many other games. This is perfect timing.
@thefourfoldroot1
I own the base game without the DLC.
I don't see a upgrade path.
I guess you need to own the Deluxe version on PS VR1 first, before being able to upgrade to the PS VR2, which will cost you another €10 on top of the upgrade price.
*Edit
From the YouTube video description:
"Upgrading will require having the original game purchased and installed on your platform."
Probably can only do the upgrade on your console that way, not via the app.
@ThaBEN I don't see an option where I am either. I was assuming it would be available at launch maybe.
i'm pretty sure i bought the 1st one , i'll have to check , but the upgrade seems well worth the price if you already have it. crazy all this vr stuff today after not hearing much for a while.
@twitchtvpat
There’s always PSVR2 stuff, it just isn’t unusually put on mainstream sites like this unfortunately.
Crazy that all these third party devs port their games to PSVR2. But Sony has no interest in reviving their classic VR1 games. Still no Astrobot Rescue Mission, Wipeout Omega Collection, Blood and Truth etc.
I’m pathologically addicted to AS2, finished on the top 3 difficulties. I’m still playing horde mode almost every day for an hour (54 hours plus). So looking forward to this and I’m happy to throw them full price. I really hope we get AS3, and a shout out to Sky Soleil for pretty much single-handedly carrying the voice acting
This trailer reminds me of some of the fun I have playing the first Dying Light game. Why has there not been a regular non VR version made? Is it believed the sales numbers would be too low to cover the investment and provide a possible profit? This games interests me but I have no interest to play VR.
@thefourfoldroot1 i saw a few games on ps+ i'll have to try out , im glad i bought one i think its pretty cool tech i just wish they found more uses for it , like the vr part of hulu was great but it sucks its not supported any more. a whole vr media thing where you can watch movies ect , would be great.
Oh this is fantastic! I never finished this game on PSVR1, so I will definitely upgrade this. Plus get the 2nd game when I can.
I'm guessing the upgrade price of £9.99 won't be available until the remake releases? Price is at £23 just now with PS+...
