Warside is a fast-paced 2D tactical strategy game that immediately evokes Nintendo's excellent Advance Wars series or the fantastic Wargroove (not to be confused with the unfortunately-named Wargasm, which is, as we all know, a 3D strategy game). It's planned for launch in 2024 and will be available on both PS5 and PS4.
Warside will boast a single-player campaign, multiplayer support for both local and online play, and a built-in map editor, allowing for the creation of your own, likely poorly-balanced home-made maps. With 12 playable Commanders (each with their own unique passives and Battle Power), 25 unit types, and a campaign with over 30 missions across a variety of biomes, it's becoming an increasingly appealing proposition.
What do you think of Warside? Are you a fan of this specific style of turn-based strategy game popularised by Advance Wars? Think a full three steps of your enemies in the comments section below.

That is a bit too close to the original.
@yazzika That‘s a polite euphemism.
@yazzika "Can I copy yo homework?"
Wow, that is a carbon copy... The devs will probably hear from Nintendos lawyers soon!
Very puzzled they managed to get so far as releasing a trailer without receiving a cease and desist...
"evokes"??? That's just a straight-up copy.
How can this kind of thing even be possible ?
Wow that is blatant.
'not to be confused with the unfortunately-named Wargasm..'
Why do you say that? It stands for War Ground Air Special Missions, made in 1998, back when people didn't find fault in stuff for no reason.
Advance Wars 3? oh sorry… Definitely interested.
Got to admire them for their blatant audacity.
Deffo have to get this. Got wargroove it's decent. Love these games from playing battalion games online on kongregate miniclip 🤣🤣🤣
That's just plagiarism.
I remember this.
Yeah, Wargroove is a good example of a game "inspired by" Advance Wars, but still manages to do its own thing.
This is... just a rip-off, lol. Even the unit types are almost identical.
That said, if they can replicate the excellent map and mission design from Nintendo's series, I'll give it a chance. Apart from those remakes, it's not like Nintendo is doing much with the IP anyway. I have strong doubts they really understand what makes that series so good, though.
@Qu1n0n3z Advance Wars 3 already exists. It's called Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
The disparity in site comments is wild.
The Nintendo site: Well Nintendo isn't doing anything with Advance Wars. Hope this will be a better game than what they make.
The Playstation site: Jesus Christ that might actually be a complete rip off.
@Ralizah Nintendo isn't doing much with the IP? They released remakes last year.
@Haruki_NLI I mean, I acknowledged that in the words IMMEDIATELY preceding that remark, lol
It's been a dead IP for more than a decade. Them farming out some cheap remakes to a Western dev doesn't constitute doing much with it.
Still bought them, though. I've been desperate for more AW for a long time. It kills me that Days of Ruin tanked the series, because it's an incredible game.
@Ralizah I think Tactics games went the way of the platformer for a bit there.
@Haruki_NLI There's been an incredible tactics game revival lately. XCOM and recent Fire Emblem games (primarily Awakening and Three Houses) seem to have helped spark interest in the genre again.
Considering how many blatant Zelda clones are out there, not even trying to be different, not surprised by this.
I played a couple of AW games in the past, and remember generally enjoying them, but haven't been motivated to buy the reboot on Switch.
However, for the right price and reviews, would give this a try.
Considering Nintendo hasn't done much with the IP in years, I don't mind this blatant copy of their IP. Considering Nintendo hasn't done anything, I'm assuming they can't. Nintendo is very trigger-happy with its lawyers.
I've always been of the opinion you can copy someone, but you need to deliver a better end product.
Unsure if this does that.
It was a Kickstarter early last year, actually. I’ve been looking forward to it.

Already backed it on Kickstarter, will play via Steam when available
what can you say? WOW. that is an advance wars clone if i have ever seen one. a single pixel in the wrong place and you will have nintendo knocking at your door
it does look pretty good, though.
