Epic Games has revealed a change to the way it delivers Fortnite rewards in its Battle Pass structure as it opens up the option to sell items in the Shop that were previously only available if you worked through an old Battle Pass. With a big focus on skins based on real-life IPs like Star Wars and Marvel movies, the change allows the firm to sell those Outfits to people who missed out the first time. Epic Games has placed an 18-month buffer on the initiative, so there'll still be some period of time where they remain a Battle Pass-exclusive item.
The change covers all items available in future Battle Passes; it's not happening retroactively. "At least 18 months after a Battle Pass expires, any type of item from the Battle Pass may be added in the Shop for purchase," said Epic Games. "These include Outfits, Back Blings, Pickaxes, Emotes, Instruments, Decals, Wraps, Loading Screens, Banner Icons, and more." The price of a Battle Pass remains at 950 V-Bucks, and you can still earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks, effectively paying for the next one if you so wish.
Epic Games isn't placing any guarantees on what Battle Pass rewards it'll offer in the Shop later down the road, but if an item will only ever feature in said rewards path, then the company will confirm that. "Shop selection is dependent on a variety of factors, and there is no guarantee that a Battle Pass item will come to the Shop after this change goes into effect." This change also covers the rewards offered in the Bonus Rewards and Quest Rewards tabs.
Of course, Fortnite is well known for its Outfits based on characters from movies and other video games, and it's being able to bring those skins back that fuelling the change. "One reason for this change is that we want players down the road to enjoy Battle Pass content such as Outfits based on popular licensed characters. While there is no guarantee that a Battle Pass item will come to the Shop after this change, IP content from future Battle Passes might come to the Shop at least 18 months after the Battle Pass expires."

The way I see it, if you're upset that people will be able to BUY in 18 months stuff that you got free today, well maybe you need to revaluate your world view, and spend less money on virtual skins. 😂
18 months. 🙄
And that's from someone who has bene playing for 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 years (calendar time is hard at my age) and spent $8 in PSN credit abck in the beginning and has plenty of virtual items and I always have 2,000 V-bux avaible to buy anything I want. So I get the long term addiction, but it's not "somebody gets for free what you paid for", it's "somebody gets to pay what you got for free" 18 months form now.
I mean this whole comment was a waste right, I'm just incorrectly assuming anyone will care, right? 🤷♂️
Shame this isn’t a retroactive change, there are at least a few BP skins I missed out on and would buy if given the chance.
Wish they’d done this for the X-Men battle pass a few years back
I'm still waiting on them rereleasing Kratos and the Arcane sets, let alone anything from BPs.
i will start playing again if epic rereleases Rick
