Update: Developer The Farm 51 has confirmed that Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is coming to PS5.
Original Story: Roughly three years on from the PS4 debut of the original Chernobylite (a PS5 version also dropped in 2022), Polish developer The Farm 51 has announced a full-blown sequel. The big news here is that Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is going open world, once again promising a "realistic" recreation of the actual Chernobyl. It's targeting a 2025 release on unspecified "consoles" — but we'd be shocked if it doesn't end up on PS5.
The first Chernobylite is an action RPG with an emphasis on player choice through non-linear storytelling. It sounds like this follow-up is going to stick to that formula, but basically, everything's going to be bigger (and hopefully better). The press release highlights factions that you can fight against or negotiate with, and your decisions will influence the post-apocalyptic setting. Online co-op is going to be part of the experience as well, as you'll apparently be able to team up with other players for certain missions.
Here's hoping that Chernobylite 2 lives up to the quality of its predecessor. The initial instalment was met with positive critic reviews, but more impressively, it's gone on to amass a huge amount of praise from players over the years.

This looks nice. I don't think I'll ever tire of post-apocalyptic settings, thb.
Funded the first one on Kickstarter. Proud to see it did well enough for a bigger scoped sequel
I absolutely love these settings, but they always miss the finishing touches sort of.
Couldn't really get into the first one. Actually disliked Metro Exodus.
Hopefully this one does things right and I'll be there on day 1!
i havnt even played the first one yet
Chernobylite is a wonderful game and very accessible, so if you dislike survival mechanics, you can put them on easy mode and leave combat on normal.
Definitely worth checking out. Recommend it. Happy to see it grt a sequel.
If you stay too long in the exclusion zone, chernobylfalloff!
The gameplay and vibes from Chernobylite 1 are sweet. It's a pretty unique game. Felt like a blend of different mechanics from Metal Gear, Fallout 4, and Stalker. I think the weakest part is the storyline, but the story also did introduce you to cool environments. Returning to their constructed exclusion zone with more freedom will work well, I think. I'm excited!
I’ve owned the first one for a while after buying it for like £3. Still need to commit to it but I liked what I played so far.
First one is a very good game just a little janky in just about every department. Open world sequel with maybe some more STALKER lite mechanics could be amazing.
Never even heard of the original and the trophy list looks good so as it's desolate out there I think I'll give this a go.
I always seem to get this mixed up with the Stalker and Metro games.
That's awesome!
I like the first one very much. I didn't think they would make a sequel.
I liked the first game for its Stalker like gameplay. This sequel does not look like what I enjoyed in the first game. This one looks like a pass.
Much more into this than anything Fallout related.
