Update: Developer The Farm 51 has confirmed that Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is coming to PS5.
Original Story: Roughly three years on from the PS4 debut of the original Chernobylite (a PS5 version also dropped in 2022), Polish developer The Farm 51 has announced a full-blown sequel. The big news here is that Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is going open world, once again promising a "realistic" recreation of the actual Chernobyl. It's targeting a 2025 release on unspecified "consoles" — but we'd be shocked if it doesn't end up on PS5.
The first Chernobylite is an action RPG with an emphasis on player choice through non-linear storytelling. It sounds like this follow-up is going to stick to that formula, but basically, everything's going to be bigger (and hopefully better). The press release highlights factions that you can fight against or negotiate with, and your decisions will influence the post-apocalyptic setting. Online co-op is going to be part of the experience as well, as you'll apparently be able to team up with other players for certain missions.
Here's hoping that Chernobylite 2 lives up to the quality of its predecessor. The initial instalment was met with positive critic reviews, but more impressively, it's gone on to amass a huge amount of praise from players over the years.
