In a development that shouldn't come as a surprise but still stings on some level, remember that promising PS4-exclusive WiLD, shown off at Gamescom (a decade ago), and Michel Ancel was involved? Yeah, its no longer in active development. Dredging through the Push Square archives, it seems like it was sort of happening in 2020 and as late as February 2021, but since then, radio silence.
WiLD clearly had a pretty rough time behind the scenes to have been in development at Wild Sheep Studio for so long. We got this confirmation from creative director Steven ter Heide, actually. On X, GameSpot's Gabe Gurwin enquired if WiLD was still alive (thanks, PSLS), to which he replied: "Unfortunately, all we can say is that we are no longer actively working on it."
It's an ignoble end to what was a promising concept: an open world survival shamanism simulator, and we'll always wonder what that would have looked like. Oh well, we'll always have that one trailer:
Are you sad to hear WiLD is no longer in the works? Have you been holding out hope it would appear someday, fully-formed and on PS5? Take on your true form in the comments section below.

I remember being excited for this as it sounded great but yeah i think we all knew this was canned years back.
At least Xbox One exclusive Everwild is still on track!
This is why you don't announce things until you're sure it's ready. It's sad but game development is difficult.
It was certainly a very ambitious title from what was stated, not surprised to see it go
by the way, what's with ABANDONED?
There but for the grace of God goes the open world giant lady RPG of my dreams.
.......I'm normal
Whats Rare’s game that was announced forever ago and never heard from again? I thought that was called wild
I wasn't aware this existed tbh, and for a few seconds I also confused this with Rare's Everwild (wouldn't surprise me though if that one is also canned by now) even though I'm aware its a Xbox-exclusive.
I thought this had already been cancelled.
I forgot about this! It did look promising, especially with Michel Ancel’s involvement, it’s like he’s cursed to see his games crushed for eternity, unless it’s Rayman-related. Definitely a pact with a genie.
I actually don't remember that trailer, but the art style really gives me early Sea of Thieves vibes.
What about Deep Down??
Totally forgot that this game actually existed to be honest. Really hope that the remake of Kotor doesn’t end up being cancelled as that was one of the main games I bought my PS5 for originally
Think it was pretty obvious to those that remembered, but still sad nonetheless.
So that's Wild done, soon we will see any article like this about Beyond Good and Evil 2, Ancels other baby
So they are non-actively working on it?
I remember really being interested in this game. The music in the trailer was a banger, too.
@Vivisapprentice I think Ubisoft will never formally cancelled Beyond Good and Evil 2,
This game sure is way more exciting compared to live services games like concord 😕
It's a shame. This and Deep Down had me incredibly hyped back in middle school, and was hoping they woukd release at some point but after years passed with barely any updates, I sorta moved on and forgot abou them. Still, wish nothing but the best for the devs.
Half the interesting games announced a decade ago got canned and in their place we get 50 copy paste cashgrab live services. Why do we do this hobby, again?
I have been hoping for a resurgence of this game for a long time. Looked amazingly interesting when announced, especially the part where you would control animals and be tasked to roam as them for a set time to unlock their "shaman" abilities. This could have been something great. I'm a little saddened at the news. A link to the gameplay reveal

@NEStalgia because some great games come out and we are like we love gaming again.
I don't think I've heard of this before or ever was interested in it. Just curious what they've been working on or released the past 10 years.
@RoomWithaMoose it will come out just before Elder Scrolls 6 in 2062.
@RagnarLothbrok Probably Everwild, which was announced in 2019
Putting WiLD in the ground hurts, but it is another casualty of Ancel's hubris.
@NEStalgia “ Half the interesting games announced a decade ago got canned and in their place we get 50 copy paste cashgrab live services. “
The film equivalent of that sentence from last night.😂
