WiLD PS4 PlayStation

In a development that shouldn't come as a surprise but still stings on some level, remember that promising PS4-exclusive WiLD, shown off at Gamescom (a decade ago), and Michel Ancel was involved? Yeah, its no longer in active development. Dredging through the Push Square archives, it seems like it was sort of happening in 2020 and as late as February 2021, but since then, radio silence.

WiLD clearly had a pretty rough time behind the scenes to have been in development at Wild Sheep Studio for so long. We got this confirmation from creative director Steven ter Heide, actually. On X, GameSpot's Gabe Gurwin enquired if WiLD was still alive (thanks, PSLS), to which he replied: "Unfortunately, all we can say is that we are no longer actively working on it."

It's an ignoble end to what was a promising concept: an open world survival shamanism simulator, and we'll always wonder what that would have looked like. Oh well, we'll always have that one trailer:

Are you sad to hear WiLD is no longer in the works? Have you been holding out hope it would appear someday, fully-formed and on PS5? Take on your true form in the comments section below.
