The latest PS Plus Essential monthly refresh is now live, making a further three PS5, PS4 games available for all active members. The titles can be redeemed between now and Tuesday, 3rd September 2024, but will remain playable until your subscription runs out. The three games are as follows:
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (PS5, PS4) | Review
- Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach (PS5, PS4)
- Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights (PS4)
As this article is published, the titles are live and redeemable now in the UK and Europe. They'll become available in the USA later in the day. As is customary, we conducted a Push Square Poll to get your thoughts on the new selection for August 2024. And, as what also basically feels customary at this point, most of you voted to say "it's a crap selection" — the option received 41 per cent of votes. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the one game getting most of you excited.
When we reviewed the PS5 version, we rated it an 8/10 and said: "LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a meaningful step forward, smartly evolving the gameplay without losing that fun-loving core. Kids will love the slapstick humour and colourful sights and sounds, grown-ups will appreciate all the elbow-in-ribs jokes, and both will enjoy just how much there is to do."
Are you still unimpressed with the PS Plus Essential lineup for August 2024? Let us know in the comments below.

The Disney sequels to Star Wars were sacrilege - however I’m looking forward to giving the Lego game a go. I have fond memories of playing Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga on 360 back before the characters could speak!
I'm a huge Plus defender since day 1, but lately it's been pathetic. Especially with how much money they're raking in through the subscription nowadays.
Most months I don't even bother adding the games to my library, let alone play em

I wish Sony would update their web pages at the same time. The PS+ content is always out of sync.
The Subscriptions page (https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/pages/subscriptions) shows August Monthly Games, with a LEGO Star Wars banner.
But the What's New page (https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/ps-plus/whats-new/#monthly-games) still shows the July games.... misleading given they are no longer available.
It shouldn't be this difficult.
It is a good list of games not aimed towards the 40-50 year Olds who frequent this site.

@Frmknst Star Wars as a franchise is lost. Unless Disney can concentrate on making shows like Andor it's over. The Acolyte has been cancelled so there may be hope.
@breakneck Hey I´m 51 and happy with this games!
Ender Lillies is a really fun Metroidvania. If you like that genre give it a shot. And Ender Magnolia, it's sequel, was announced at a previous Nintendo Direct.
But overall, this month's games selection isn't for me at all.
Enders lillies the quietus of the knights for me.i will definitely be downloading it and i will be playing it.and i will download 5 nights of freddy security breach.word up son
I’ve thought about buying Ender Lilies on and off for ages so I’m happy to add it to the library.
@Specky out of curiosity what kind of games would you like to see added?
I will "play" whichever of them has the smallest download size for as long as it takes for my phone to inform me I have another 50 PS stars points.
@astro911
I always loved the indie games on there or lower budget single A games.
Something like Dredge or Jusant or Hifi rush or Stray, etc.
They really need to introduce a basic level that just gives you the ability for online play. £10 a year for online play and nothing else.
@Paranoimia
They really need to stop charging us for the privilege of using our own internet connections for multiplayer and make it free again like it was on the PS3.
My nephew will love Star Wars when he visits. Not bothered by FNaF, but I'll add it to my library. Ender Lillies might actually get played by me, once I've made headway with the backlog... so probably 2026 or so.
@Cambrius They're not charging you to use your internet connection, they're charging you to use their servers, which incur costs for maintenance and occasional replacement or upgrades.
Been wanting to play Lego Star Wars for a while so I’ll give it a go. I already own Security Breach but it’s actually quite a challenging game. Reminds me of Alien Isolation with the limited saving. I gave up with it because it was quite buggy at launch but hopefully they’ve fixed it all now. Definitely worth a try.
@Specky Hell yeah! I miss the days when Essential included indie games for PS Vita and PS4. I remember the PS4 being being called Indiestation before big releases started to come out on a regular basis…
Marginal interest in Ender Lilies, otherwise that'll be 2 months of not downloading anything from Essentials.
@astro911
LMAO indiestation... That's one I haven't heard in a while! Good old days
Not in my book. 3 skips
@Frmknst thank you for the sanity
@Specky extra is still fantastic. I don't know what you're talking about.
@naruball
Essential is what im talking about
@Frmknst There’s a joy to be had from seeing old favourites but Obi-wan pretty much killed it for me. I will agree with you on Andor, I was surprised that I found it superb and it demonstrated what an original story in the universe could be.
Thanks for reminding everyone! I happily added all 3 games to my PSN Library yesterday.
I plan to play them eventually, but choosing to focus on older games in my backlog first.
Out of the 3, I am definitely most excited for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
