Starship Troopers: Exterrmination PS5 PlayStation

Starship Troopers: Extermination is gearing up for an all-out assault on PS5 in October, and in a fascinating Deep Impact, Armageddon twist of fate, will compete for the hearts and minds of Freedom and Liberty lovers already engaged with Helldivers 2. That Helldivers is so proudly inspired by Starship Troopers just makes it even more interesting.

Extermination entered Early Access on PC in May last year, so we're expecting the Mobile Infantry's elite Deep Space Vanguard to hit the ground running with guns blazing. Eurogamer has some additional details about the scale of the undertaking, which sounds increasingly exciting. This 16-player cooperative FPS will pit players against hundreds of onscreen bugs, whose corpses remain persistent and can be used as ad-hoc barricades.

A campaign featuring Johhny Rico himself, actor Casper van Dien, and players can expect to learn the ropes alongside fellow recruits Moose, Scorch and Jensen. Across the game's 25 objective-based Special Operations Group missions, which will last around 2-3 hours in total, this will serve as boot camp for the primary multiplayer offering. It's even considered canon!

Galactic Front is where the multiplayer mayhem will happen, and developer Offworld has promised overarching storylines to give context to gameplay introductions and tweaks. For example, the game's first operation will take players to the ice planet of Boreas, where they will encounter mutated warriors and drones and potentially even the flame-spewing Tanker Bug. The developer's ambition is to add every bug and weapon from the Starship Troopers films and animated movies over the next few years.
