Funcom has given us our best glimpse yet at the incredible-looking Dune: Awakening during Gamescom's Opening Night Live. A survival MMO set on the most dangerous planet in the galaxy, it launches on PC in early 2025, cautiously sandwalking to PS5 sometime afterwards.
In the reveal, we see some low-level gameplay, showing the various ways players can approach an outpost. Your choice of weaponry and abilities will determine your particular playstyle, and we see a Swordmaster engage in melee while deflecting ranged attacks with a personal shield. Hunter-seeker drones and jetpacks are on display, and it all honestly looks a little too good to be true, potentially somewhere for disaffected Destiny fans to land.

The base building and survival aspects look incredibly impressive, as well. Enterprising players can sell their creations' blueprints to others, who can then easily construct a specific structure. Add a personal ornithopter for aerial transportation and an in-game radio, and we are all ready to ship off to Arrakis.
What do you think of Dune: Awakening? Could it fulfil its dark and terrible destiny on PS5? Convert your enemies into precious water in the comments section below.

Looks incredible but yeah looks way to good to be true. Hope it is true as it looks mighty impressive.
I actually this looked pretty decent! Though for some reason I had it in my head it was a single player / optional co-op mmo
I agree this does look interesting. I have little hope for mmos in the time of predatory monetization. Hopefully they find a way to garner support for ongoing development that isn't really just a front for increasing the bank accounts of shareholder scum.
They seemed to keep an engaged player base for Conan for a good period of time. So perhaps they do the same here.
Too good to be true? It looks like every MMO I've ever seen.
Looks good? The graphics were ass and it looked packed to the gills with generic MMO filler content.
Never read the books, loved the recent films and am obsessed with the Dune Imperium board game so am really up for this.
This looks cool. I’m hoping it’s easy to join a house/guild and fight in battles that way. Let the really active players guide it more and let casuals be the grunts.
