The Midnight Walk is a dark fantasy adventure boasting a gorgeous, hand-crafted clay aesthetic, and was revealed during Sony's State of Play showcase. Become The Burnt One on PS5 and PSVR2 in Spring 2025.
Developed by MoonHood, a new studio comprised of former Zoink (Fe, Lost in Random) devs, The Midnight Walk follows The Burnt One and his companion, the lantern Potboy, on a journey down an infernal highway, surviving five stories of flame along the way. Impressively, every asset in the game was first sculpted in clay before being 3D scanned into the game. Simultaneously life-giving and deadly, the elemental power of fire is central to the conceit here, with flames and shadows essential to the game's setting and atmosphere.
What do you think of The Midnight Walk? Does this look like a grim journey worth undertaking? Will you travel through the fire and the flames? Let us know in the comments section below.

This looks intriguing. Sign me up to play on PS VR2!
Looks very good 👍
Stunningly insanely detailed, and strangely grotesquely beautiful. An absolutely fascinating first glimpse of this one. 👍🏼👍🏼
Really interested to try it. The clay aesthetic-stop motion and dark / gothic vibe reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas
It’s not something that I would be interested in playing on a TV but I’ll definitely get it to play on PSVR2.
The bigger PSVR2 news was Hitman (can’t see a story on it here?). It was brilliant on PSVR1 even with a Dual Shock controller.
I’ve been trying to play it on the Quest 3 for the past week and it’s so bad. It plays and looks like absolute crap. Really hope they nail it on PSVR2.
Metro looked great too. No mention of that either?
Looks great, would have loved for this to be out by Halloween, unfortunately not
Love the look of this, not something I would play on VR though, then again, nothing I wanna play ever would be through VR as its *****.
Looks absolutely amazing, I'm a sucker for claymation.
It certainly peaked my interest. I just hope it is not style over substance
Okay. Watching State of Play, it’s not just VR? Then I’m excited if non-VR also.
Looks incredible
From the creator of Lost In Random? Heck yeah. Look so beautiful
It really impressed at the state of play! On my radar for sure.
Looks great high hopes for this one 👌
Through the fire and the flames, we carry oooooon!
Highlight of the show, excited to see what this is all about
Looks interesting. I just wish there were more lighthearted PSVR2 games with a world I actually would choose to inhabit lol.
(And, obviously, it goes without saying, if available in VR I would have no interest in flat mode)
Definitely intrigued, it was a beautiful trailer.
@thefourfoldroot1 I feel the same way. I literally made the same comment today while going through all PSVR2 games. Why are most games so dark?
@naruball
I guess it’s because horror just works so darn fantastically in VR. Still, for exploration i’d much rather something like CyubeVR. Something beautiful and uplifting rather than stressful lol. Man I wish VR was viable when Sony were still focused on their Japanese devs.
@thefourfoldroot1 yeah, I get it. Still, games like Astro bot were amazing on PSVR1, so here's hoping we get some more colourful games at some point.
The trailer for this really intrigued me, but I wonder if it is as good without VR ... Back on the fence about buying PSVR2 after this State of Play ... This also reminded me I got Lost In Random installed, gonna play it as my Halloween-game this year I think
This one (weirdly) piqued my interest. And not just because I feel that the PSVR2 was a waste of money at this point.
Loved Lost in Random, feel that's a true PS5 hidden gem. Will be looking forward to this.
PSVR2 locked and loaded. Looks amazing.
@thefourfoldroot1 Finally someone is saying this. I am 100% up for this game as an exception, but in general there is too much emphasis on horror on PSVR2. That said I do really love my PSVR2!
