We’ve already heard from CNET about how much better Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth looks on the PS5 Pro, but don’t just take their word for it: Digital Foundry’s John Linneman has chipped in on X (or Twitter) to talk about how much better the new version of the game looks – and it’s running at a smooth 60fps, remember.
“Wow, yeah, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth looks a lot better on the PS5 Pro,” he wrote. “Night and day difference. I actually put off playing it due to other things happening at the time of release but the Pro will finally push me to enjoy it. Image quality was just too awful on a normal PS5.”
One user asked if Linneman is joking, but he stressed that he’s deadly serious: “What do you mean? Have you not seen what it looks like on a regular PS5? It's really, really bad. The image quality is among the worst this gen.” While Square Enix did ultimately update the RPG to improve the visuals, it still looks sub-optimal in performance mode on a base console.
The exciting thing here is that Linneman suspects the PS5 Pro may be surpassing the original PS5’s fidelity mode – despite running at double the frame rate. “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth does seem to exhibit superior image quality compared to PS5's regular quality mode while running at 60fps on the Pro,” he said. “They seem to be leveraging PSSR which looks a lot better than the generic upscaling they previously used.”
PSSR is one of the big features of the PS5 Pro: it stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and uses AI to upscale images with very little artefacting. This means that frames can be rendered at a lower resolution, reducing computational overheads, but displayed with the comparative quality of a higher resolution, like 4K.
“It absolutely looks crisp – far more than the previous quality mode,” Linneman continued. “It’s not perfect but it’s hugely improved.”
So there you have it: if the tech experts are impressed, then there’s clearly some good stuff going on with the PS5 Pro. Of course, none of this means the system will represent $700/£700 worth of value, but it’s nice to hear some positive comments about the system for a change.

Does John have a ps5 pro?
I would've bought it for this very reason but that price is just rough.
I’m going to wait and see with the Pro. The system seems $150 overpriced as it’s being shown. Seems like the base PS5 should move to $450, Pro without disc drive to $550, and $650 with the disc dive would be much better received. Probably would look more like this if Xbox was also releasing a new console.
@DualWielding I am sure Digital Foundry has seen a lot of the PS5 Pro well before any of us.
They knew about the Series S well before it was announced, too.
I would bet they have seen the Switch 2 in action as well.
Of course, NDA prevents them from stating as such so they always talk about these things as if it's all "rumor" until it's officially confirmed.
It is good to know that PSSR is seemingly shaping up to be as beneficial as DLSS.
I'm still not getting a PS5 Pro, but for those who do, it sounds like a winner in the image quality arena.
Probably the best game for the pro, seeing as looked like it was vasaline smeared at 60fps (it was during my playthrough at least). So bad I opted to play it at 30fps.
I bet the difference is actually closer to night and later that night.
@DualWielding That's what I was thinking. Surely can't be based off the very short clips in the YouTube compressed video online.
But when they were doing their post PS5 Pro podcast the other day they were saying they can't wait to get their hands on it. Odd.
EDIT: But i'd also add that DF are complete pedants when it comes to this sort of thing. They call games "unplayable" or performance "awful" when most of us wouldn't worry about it in the slightest. While I am interested in their analysis, especially the technical side, i'm less interested in their heavily skewed subjective takes.
Anyone who really believes that the PS5 Pro offers no added value is delusional. Yes, the price is outrageous (although my biggest problem is the lack of a disk drive) but in return you get a piece of decent hardware. Cerny has always delivered so far and that won't change here.
I'm sure the discourse will change as soon as we see Ghost of Tsushima 2, the new IP from Santa Monica Studios and of course GTA VI on the Pro.
Night and day, huh? Meh, I've always been a night person.
@Cloud39472 buy a PS5 on FB for like $200, trade both yours included at GameStop for $350 each
I just hope this doesn't mean that they'll end up optimising Threemake for Pro and/or PS6, and leave it running even worse on the base PS5. I don't personally have any complaints about Rebirth's graphical fidelity (and I played it in performance mode), but given that Sony would've had Pro dev kits out in the wild for some time, it does make me question whether they genuinely focused on pushing the best out of the base console.
I’m currently playing through Rebirth. I am by no means a pixel counter but it’s plain to see that performance mode really does tank the image quality. It’s a bit bizarre to be playing a sequel on more powerful hardware that doesn’t, at the very least, match the visual bar set by its predecessor.
SSR on console has the potential to be a real game changer, it will obviously come down to how the devs get the best out of it though. I expect first party to lead the way on what's possible.
@Medic_alert I only really watch them for three reasons.
1) I like the DF Podcast
2) As a multi-platform gamer it's nice to know if a version of a game really sucks on one platform so I can buy elsewhere.
3) I've been following Rich since the 90s - Mean Machines & CVG
But I find John a pretty miserable soul unless he's talking about Retro games. You are right about sucking out the joy. As an alternative NX Gamer (Michael Thompson) does similar stuff and is MUCH more positive and in praise of devs, but seems to be part time, and since he has started making videos for IGN there's less content on his channel.
Sounds promising!
@8bit4Life
I dont see how its overpriced.
It's a biiig jump in performance from base ps5 and specially when you consider that if you fix for inflation the $500 launch ps5 would be $620 nowadays, the $700 price point is not that bad.
Yeah the disc drive and base would cost you even more but the majority of gamers buy their games digitally and you dont really need the base at all.
I'm not saying it's not expensive, I just mean that its not a rip off like everyone else is trying to make this sound like.
@themightyant Did you watch Michael's video on the Pro?
@Intr1n5ic Yes. He was far more upbeat about it than anyone else!
@themightyant I thought so too. Obvious sticking points are the cost and lack of drive, there's no getting away from it, but he was very positive about its possibilities outside of that. Time will tell.
@KawakiisaFraud The only delusional one here is you and others like you. I've been gaming for 40+ years and I know a scam when I see one.
Nice I guess, but I already played it. How about some new games? I'm not gonna replay my older stuff just because it might have some better reflections at 30fps or look a bit sharper at 60.
@Intr1n5ic 100%. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do, even if for now my interest is only academic.
@LordOfTurnips I think a lot of people are mad as well because they THOUGHT PS5 Pro was going to be for them, like PS4 Pro was, but they have been priced out of it. So we are seeing an overreaction due to that too. (People calling it a scam, or Sony fraudsters for example)
Is it though? my son's series s cost £200 and plays hell blade 2 probably the best looking game on consoles just fine
Logging out of my account for a while. I'll wait for the talk of this Console to die down. Admittedly people on here have been riling me up lately.
@RubyCarbuncle wanna know how much PC graphics cards cost? Sorry to break it to you. PS5 Pro is not a scam. And why be so hostile to people you’ve never met? Jeez.
Great, it means that if used the right way PSSR might allow for DLSS-like experience in consoles, which is great despite the sticker shock.
But then again, a card with the same feature set is around $700 too.
Really makes the PS5 feel like the PS4 Pro+.
And here we go with the night and day line
Night and day but guarantee we will all be looking back and forth between screenshots ....racking our brains trying to see the difference...then be like oh yeah few extra blades of grass and that tree 2 miles in the background looks abit crisper
@Intr1n5ic please say you are with me still on the PS5 Pro. I know i know $700 not $600 like i expected. But this console is going to be a monster. I want to try and pre order it day 1. It is going to be so good for all the GPU bound games which is like 9.5 out of every 10 games made. Only a few games are CPU bound. I can’t wait to get it and see the gamers reactions when games are running insane on it.
@RubyCarbuncle same here. I think I'm going to wait because I need to see more before and after videos what they showed, didn't really seem like a major improvement. I get the impression that you'll still have performance mode, but it'll look a bit better visually, so what about quality/fidelity mode? Didn't speak about the improvements of quality mode. That right there makes me wonder.
@AgentGuapo PS5 Pro at $600 would have been a steal at $700 it is still packing a load of enhancements. Once dev’s start to better understand it and unlock all its power it is going to be really nice. Just knowing 60fps is going to be there for most of the big games and with great lighting, effects and graphics is going to be worth it for me. I can’t sell my PS5 and get the Pro fast enough. Wish it was coming in October.
@StylesT
Night and day usually means you have to get a personal experience with the subject in question ir order to make an educated decision whether or not that product is for you.
Kinda like OLED TVs, home theaters, cars and so on, online reviews are only a part of the whole equation.
I'm still fine with what I have for now.
this is all so cringe inducing. most gamers either don't care about this stuff or are unaware of it at all. they will not be swayed in any way. those who want the pro have already made up their minds about it... those who don't have done the same. trying to convince people to be stupid with their money is counterproductive. sony will sell less than 10m units of the pro — they did the math already. if they feel like that is a worthwhile to their bottom line, then so be it. that said, it is sad that many games will be poorly optimized on the base ps5 now that the pro exists (many games were already poor long before the pro as well), particularly from 3rd party developers. that is what people should be upset about more than anything.
Does anyone else think the screen size you are playing on is a huge factor?
@HonestHick I definitely am. I wasn't that shocked at the price, I was shocked at the lack of a drive for said price.
I will probably get the PS5 Pro, and i think the days of console makers in general heavily subsidising the machines is coming to an end which explains the price, but that presentation was really really bad at showing what it can do.
What a waste of Mark Cerny who clearly should have been doing an in depth 30mins including all key technicals, not 9mins.
Seems like devs dont want to push limits of current consoles now and just cry for better hardware, shame really as pushing software limits due to hardware limitations enhanced creativity.
Price isn’t the issue, the lack of games is.
Ffs it’s promotion video talked about ps4 games.
@Intr1n5ic fair enough. I don’t do physical media and haven’t for 10 years or longer. So it didn’t bother me as i own a Digital Ps5 and wanted the Digital Pro. For those that like physical media, i feel a little bad for you all. Cause that’s an extra cost. But physical buyers are now the small percentage and will likely have to pay more to have it and of course miss certain titles that don’t come out, like Alan Wake 2. I understand your point for sure tho. 😀
It's kinda worrying that this is the best that can be done now to improve graphics. The ps6 isn't far off but I already know it will be difficult to spot whether a game is ps5 or ps6. No wonder so many have chosen to keep their ps4 as there is already barely a difference between that and ps5.
@Porco
"it is sad that many games will be poorly optimized on the base ps5 now that the pro exists (many games were already poor long before the pro as well), particularly from 3rd party developers."
And this is the reason i will probably buy a Pro, and next gen will consider PC.
I have been complaining about this for a while now, and voting with my wallet - FF16, DD2, BMW, Lords of Fallen and more not bought. Sadly a lot of apologists exist, as well as sites (Not Pushsquare) that will not heavily downmark a game for this.
@Medic_alert If, and it's a really BIG 'IF', they can really demonstrate the value of PS5 Pro I still might get one, but that seems unlikely. They've done an awful job so far. I have the cash, I just don't think it makes good financial sense based on what we have seen. But if they can truly demonstrate:
... then I MIGHT think about getting one to play games at their best on console for the next few years. I can probably sell my PS5 for £250 - £300 to cut the cost a bit. But right now while I am not thinking about getting a PC instead, I do need to rebuild my rig for work and may just put the money towards a beefier CPU/GPU upgrade.
@themightyant
Yeah, I get that but I still can't see how it would be a scam.
Digital Foundry in their Black Myth video used a RTX 3070 TI gpu as a direct point of comparison for what the ps5 pro would perform like, but thats a $600 graphics card.
People saying that you would be better off buying a computer at that price point are comparing a brand new (admitedly boutique) console to a bunch of used parts and cheap alternatives.
The whole converstation around PS5 is filled with inflamatory miscreants. and thats a shame because there is a legit conversation to be had about the price this thing is being released at.
The only way to break this cycle and truly have a next gen PS6 is if they have a GPU that is better than PS5 pro, but not too much, and put the money saved from not going overboard on the GPU into really enhancing the CPU.
@HonestHick Alan Wake 2 is out in October for those who had the patience to wait, I was not one of them. I would say roughly 90% of my purchases this gen have been digital. I'm tinkering with the idea of abandoning physical but I haven't made my mind up yet, I do want the option of physical to always be there though.
And push Square continues to shill for the overpriced Hardware.
All that aside though I must admit in the case of Final Fantasy rebirth specifically, I actually did not pick it up even though I wanted to, simply because of that demo and how poorly it looked and how much everyone was glossing over the fact that image quality was so much worse than the first remake. I genuinely hope that they would patch it to make it run better just as I hoped for Dragon's Dogma 2 however it became clear when the pro rumors started to become more loud that they were going to try and pedal the Pros worth with updating games like those two and a few others that basically released completely unpolished rather than have a new software to highlight it.
However, there is no freaking way that I care enough about a few frames more or less FSR native resolution based blurriness to spend $700, or whatever the eventual scalper price is going to be for the next 6 months, on mid Gen refresh console. Especially in the terms of those two games amongst others because it is not a matter of them not being able to reach a better potential on the base PS5 it is strictly a matter of them releasing it before it was technically optimized and Polished and relying far too heavily on doing even less of that with things like the terrible FSR 2 uspcaling.
So as much as I still want to play rebirth at some point, I'm just waiting until it's on sale now. I could tell a couple months ago with the fact that no real sales and/or meaningful performance related patches really ever came, that a pro related scheme was in the works. As these devs and publishers likely expect to see a sales boost on the software side for some of these games that released in completely technically inferior state thanks to the release of the overpriced pro.
@Intr1n5ic PSSR, from what I can tell, appears to not involve the developers. The claim is it'll work on 8,500 titles, so it's AI driven and won't need any fiddling on the dev or sonys part for each game. I suppose there could be a way for devs to optimise with it
@KundaliniRising333 it's not overpriced though, not at all. The tech is well worth the money. The issue is they've made it too powerful so that needs to be a high price point. They'd have been better making the GPU a bit worse and a smaller SSD because people will naturally go nuts at the price. Even though people don't seem to whine at PCs costing thousands even though they're both optional.
@LordOfTurnips A 3070 Ti is £700 here, the same price as a PS5 Pro, and that's just the GPU.
@Andy22385 trust me my friend if the excuse that Supply chain issues and cost of production are why Electronics pricing and everything else for that matter, is so high, then you would not see every one of these companies posting record profits far exceeding anything pre-pandemic in terms of year over year growth and just straight profit. It's price gouging plain and simple and the more we continue to just act like it's normal and that this is inflation and yada yada yada supply and demand all b******* then the more they're going to continue to do it.
The free market system based on supply and demand, we are taught in school is the reality, is actually a complete lie. we do not have a free market system. What we have are a bunch of hidden monopolization, price fixing, price gouging, collusion and planned obsolescence. All signed off on by a government that hasn't been run by the people for nearly a century and instead is fully bought and paid for by those major corporate cartels(and their ringleaders), that own and exploit just about everything on the planet.
@LordOfTurnips I think it's a massive wake up call. People are outraged but they will soon release every piece of tech coming out is seeing very little upgrades, even iphone 16 is still stuck at 60Hz. Now that's a scam. There have been little technological breakthroughs in GPU or CPU tech, at least not since Pascal architecture or AMD Zen. We are hitting a ceiling for tech with massive diminishing returns, little upgrades are going to cost a lot. Sony is bringing the harsh reality.
I suspect that's why Switch 2 is still not announced. Nintendo could be struggling to make any generational upgrades while keeping it compact
@Yonisanu Yep. I use a 32" 1080p TV and I sit far back enough that I don't really notice that the image quality isn't as clear as it would be in 4K.
@themightyant just exactly my thoughts. PRO presentation was very poor on actual differences between actual gameplay on PS5 and PS5 pro. I've already played the hell out of all the titles shown there and would hardly replay them this gen. At the same time it remains unclear how upcoming games will run on PS5 and whether we will still encounter CPU bottleneck with a PRO version.
At this moment I'd better invest those £700 into upgrading my PC or even building a whole new rig for both work and gaming, which will carry me through the next 5 years of gaming with ultra/high presets.
Still might grab a PRO, if they show more differences or correct the pricing, but at the moment I am not convinced at all.
Looks beautiful pn PS5.
I watched my kid play Rebirth on PS5 and as I was watching and not playing I got to really look at the game and it mostly looked fine to me.
If they want to impress me w/ PS5 Pro, make Crisis Core Reunion look good, I'm playing that now. Fortunately I like the look of PS2 games. 😂
I think that’s a fantastic piece of news and great for the outlook of the potential of games in general on the PS5 Pro.
I look forward to getting one. I’m going to sell my PS five a week before it releases and I may sell a PS4 that I have that is gathering dust.
So I won’t have to invest much to get one. I’m ready to go.
@SlipperyFish You're absolutely right. My wording is admittedly poor in what I was trying to convey.
I was talking about the potential to optimise cpu/gpu demand and help overall performance by having a superior upscaling solution at a lower resolution. It should be easier, in theory, to ensure 60fps at 2k and allow for PSSR to upscale and produce a better image then what we're currently seeing in fidelity modes.
If they want to include the disc drive and stand, I'll consider it.
For most gamers the ps5 pro isn't worth the cost, especially if they already own a ps5.
I own a ps5 and will not be purchasing the console.
Sony needs to completely max out the capabilities of the ps5 just like they did for ps2 and ps3 before asking for $700.
@themightyant this isn't people "overreacting because they got priced out" from buying a PS5 Pro. It is because at $700, which is $200 more than the disc base PS5, there isn't even a guarantee that all games can run at 4K 60fps. Sony already admitted that not every PS5 game will be capable of doing that on the Pro so really what is the point of the upgrade if it only offers a marginal upgrade for some games. At least with PS4 Pro it advertised 4K with HDR for all supported games with the option to keep base PS4 resolution but at a locked 60fps. The PS5 Pro feels like Sony just put out the Pro due to a sense of obligation as it is halfway through the PS5 lifecycle and to make money despite the tech not being advanced enough in this time to provide an actual upgrade over the base model. Unless there are a bunch of extra features Sony has yet to advertise then there has yet to be anything shown off to justify the PS5 Pro's existence.
@Intr1n5ic ahh ok I understand. They'd essentially be leaving room for PSSR to do more of the upscaling work. I think that would be good for developers as long as there's still 60fps modes on the base PS5
@PloverNutter to be fair, 4k@60fps can never be guaranteed on every game since it's up to the developer to make that happen as well. TDU Solar Crown can't hit 4k@60 on a RTX4090. Sony can't do much about a developer's poor optimisation. I mean even a PS2 could run games at 60fps is the devs chose to
@SlipperyFish I hope that will always be the case with first party, I don't want to imagine the conversation if it isn't seeing as they've provided the option in every game so far this gen.
@AgentGuapo That's odd for an adult to act that way. Good job for standing up for people.
As someone who played +60h of this game in Performance Mode on my simple 2012 1080p TV, i can already tell this console isn't for me. Selling my PS5 (non-digital version), to buy a Pro + a detachable disc drive (that costs 550 reais) + a stand (that costs around 50 reais) in Brazil is a complete nightmare that i won't ever want to go through. And we still don't know how much this thing will cost here (the non-digital base PS5 is costing around 3.500 reais, which is A LOT already)
Might as well save some money to either upgrade my PC or get a PS6 in 3 years
I just find it frustrating that square didn't do the work to make the game look good on PS5 and instead we are going to let them get away with making more costly hardware solve the problem instead.
Removed - trolling/baiting
lol hugs and kisses naysayers 😂😂😂 xxx
I thought it looked incredible in performance mode. 🤷♂️
I'm sure it looks better but to say it looked awful on a regular PS5 just sounds silly to me.
I'll just wait for it on PC now. I'm pretty sure it will look better on my 4080, and I won't have to spend an additional £700.
@PloverNutter of course there isn’t a guarantee that games will run at 4K @ 60fps because this isn’t up to Sony, it is up to DEVELOPERS, some will always choose to use the extra power for more/shinier graphical effects not performance or resolution.
But the advantage of Machine Learning upscaling like DLSS, and presumably PSSR, is that you don’t have to run at native 4K, you can run at 1440p for example and use ML Upsampling to output at 4K. Which in the case of DLSS3 can give an image that can be even sharper than native 4K due to all the information from frame buffers. Then with the extra CPU and GPU headroom you are saving you can push the frame rate up OR use it for other graphical benefits. We’ve yet to see if PSSR is as good as DLSS but the reality is it doesn’t even need to be due to most users sitting relatively further from a tv (compared to screen size) than a monitor, hence any artefacts or imperfections will be harder to spot.
While I agree Sony have NOT done a good job of demonstrating the power of the PS5 Pro YET I struggle to believe this is a cash grab, Sony haven’t made a bad PlayStation console before and I don’t think they will start now. If it wasn’t going to offer a tangible benefit over base PS5 they wouldn’t have spent millions making it.
@Cloud39472 Same
Honestly, Rebirth post-patch looked fine in performance mode. Yeah, maybe I have an untrained eye. If so, thank God. If it means I can enjoy games without having to spend 700 quid on slightly better graphics then I'm happy.
And before people pitch in with the "It's much better graphics, not slightly!", I've been here since the Sega Megadrive and seen graphics progress. Trust me, the difference is slight.
@KundaliniRising333 even with that, it's still not overpriced for that you get. People are used to entry level consoles and prices that's the issue
@Intr1n5ic I know what you mean about physical. I don't mind buying digital if I am buying day 1 and the price is the same but I want physical to stay. Mainly for when I pick up old PS4 games I missed and for those digital is awful as you can usually grab a disc copy for around £15 or still spend £40 in the store.
@Intr1n5ic well i say do what makes you the happiest. I mean if you like the convenience of digital go for it. If you really like the cases and having the disc do that as long as they are sold and available. My thing is digital for things like Portal and others make it work the way it’s intended, and for me physical would just get in the way of that future. I agree with you on that, i haven’t bought a disc for PS or Xbox in over a decade but i still want physical to be there for those that like it or need it.
So it implicitly telling us that either the PS5 was useless and should not have been released, or FF7 was poorly optimized and should not have been released. All this “next gen” stuff has really a bitter taste. Cost a lot of money for false promises. Will wait for PS6 to play the PS5 catalog, or maybe build a PC, it’s going to be more sustainable at some point.
@Yozora146_ I hated both modes so much I quit playing in hopes for a patched in 40 fps mode but guess I gotta get a Pro to enjoy it now
I played on graphics mode. It looks amazing so I was ok with the 30 fps. Both performance modes were weird. One was fuzzy and the other had a dithering look. I play on a 64 inch 4k. I would have been happy with a balanced 40fps option. No need now with the Pro.
At this point I will just rebuy the game on PC if I want that fidelity.
@rjejr Reunion looks nothing like a PS2 game. Yeah, it's not in the same league as the Remakes, but it looks way better than the PSP version, which actually does look like a PS2 game.
@8bit4Life disc drives are something like $10 to manufacture. Not to mention how cheap it is for companies to buy in bulk. A disc drive should not be a $100 difference, Sony seems to convince you it is.
Removed - inappropriate language
Currently playing Rebirth - I don't need to spend 700 noops to solve complaints I don't have.
I'm absolutely loving it and that's all that matters.
I'd like to see a new Sony 1st party game running on the system. I think that would sell a lot of people on what this thing can really do.
And now, if we just stop asking for best tech for pennies, in this article lies part of the answer. To achieve this - the RT hardware inside the PlayStation 5 Pro comes from AMD's next-generation Radeon graphics hardware, or RDNA 4.
So, we want tech that is actually not availble but only at Sony at the moment and with no price hike? WTF guys?
I played Rebirth for 90+ hours on quality mode and it was my favourite gaming experience on PS5 to date. Only complaint was the low quality textures which the pro isn’t fixing from the sounds of things.
@riceNpea @Tintin @HonestHick @Medic_alert @GamingFan4Lyf @DualWielding @Intr1n5ic @get2sammyb I've tagged a few of you who I thought might be interested in this (apologies if not).
Renowned tech leaker Moore's Law is Dead has released a video where he has been sent PS5 Pro footage from a developer with framerates compared. This is his takeaway on a tech level.
PlayStation 5
PlayStation 5 Pro
A few other notes
My take
It's an interesting bit of info, and he seems very impressed with the hardware (though not the cost) but it's also only one game, one data point. He also gets a few things slightly wrong, console hardware isn't his usual area of expertise, he's usually more PC hardware focused. But I did find it interesting.
@themightyant thanks for the tag, yeah i have seen this and a few others saying how good the hardware really is and that it will show huge improvements in the real world to those that want that extra sauce. For those that don’t this console isn’t for you and thats ok. Stick to the base console which is still very good.
And their incompetence and laziness is "saved" by the PS5 Pro, exactly what was expected if Sony released a PS5 Pro.
They should not have needed a PS5 Pro to get the game to be where it should've been on the base PS5. Especially when Square Enix released 2 PS5 exclusives in a row that had a Performance mode that was a mess.
A shame as I highly enjoyed the game itself (outside of the extremely excessive side content eventually), but should've been able to play the game in Performance mode if I wanted to and not had the game look so damn blurry.
Back when I was playing this game, I was always hoping for either an update to fix it or the brute force method of a PS5 pro.... I hate the way this game looks in motion.
I'm actually about half way through rebirth and have been meaning to get back to it. I'll definitely wait to see if I can get my hands on a Pro. In fact it's stopping me buying any new games recently. Waiting to get Black Myth and Space Marine 2 as I hope these run better on Pro.
Yes it was a bit of a d*@k move to not include the disk drive and stand but I'm still sold. Just waiting to see if Xbox games will get Pro enhancements...
Cheers @themightyant, that was interesting. I'm really curious about what studio and game he's referencing, but it looks like taking advantage of the pro is going to be incredibly easy for devs. Good to hear they're quickly rolling out updates for PSSR as well, sounds like teething issues in its implementation but should mean we get constant improvements as it evolves.
Yh but this game is abysmal in optimization on older versions so..
Is Rebirth really that bad on performance mode? A household member has lamented not taking the $70 offer for both Remake/Rebirth last January.
Is it really that blurry? Just to compare, AC Odyssey on 60fps at the SeriesX is rather blurry. Or have a vaseline smeared look. I love the game, but can't play more than an hour because of that.
@AgentGuapo I got mine on special offer and my point is most people myself included who have good PCs got them built some time ago. We don't need to spend an extra 700 just for slightly prettier visuals. Our games already look good.
Well I didn't like his remark, if anything he was being hostile to me and others like me just because we have a different view.
The worst part of this game, and Remake, is the insanely slow reaction time whilst walking if you want to change your character's direction. I doubt the Pro will fix that (or remove the insane amount of mini game padding).
…uh… on the original PS5 looks… “awful?”
What is this person smoking?
@ChromaticDracula For what it should've looked like if the developers weren't incompetent and/or lazy, the game in Performance mode does look awful. There's no way it should look blurry like it does, and it's really blurry. I opted to play it at Fidelity Mode because of how huge the difference was in the graphics department.
@mcdreamer The character movement is indeed slow/heavy, however you want to put it, but that also allowed me to be able to play it in Fidelity mode and not really have an issue with it. No, I shouldn't have had to do that, but playing this at 30 FPS didn't take away from it like it would've from some other games where the characters move quicker.
No, the PS5 Pro will not fix that for you if you felt they moved slow even at 60 FPS. Even though their game engine is obviously crap, the frame rate was always smooth, so it's always going to be the game no matter what you play it on.
