Publisher and developer Red Candle Games has at last announced a console release date for its picturesque action platformer, Nine Sols. After launching earlier this year on PC to rave reviews, the side-scrolling metroidvania will be making its way to PS5 and PS4 on 26th November, 2024.
Self-described as a "Sekiro-lite" game, Nine Sols has you exploring a world under the rule of the titular nine sols, inspired by eastern mythology, Taoism, and sci-fi for a unique look. Its hand-drawn art style looks fantastic, and the combat looks suitably challenging too. It's looking pretty promising in this trailer, so we're looking forward to checking this one out.
Our very own Sammy Barker paid a visit to Red Candle at the start of this year, and it's an insightful look at the Taiwanese studio:

Really been looking forward to playing this I've heard amazing things and I absolutely LOVED Detention this is an amazing studio. I pray they release.Devotion on consoles some day and screw "Fearless Leader"
Nice, been hearing good things from my buddy on PC.
I mean, you had me at "gorgeous" and "metroidvania", I'm 100% buying this 😃
I was hoping when this will come. Heard its really good.
@jrt87 I wish they could release Devotion on Xbox, PS, and Switch (all consoles). Would be nice. They just don't need to release it in the PRC (mainland China).
@jrt87 One of my favourite YouTubers SonicHaXD gave Nine Sols a glowing recommendation on KombatKings a little while ago but I only have a console so I've been waiting for the console release ^__^
It genuinely is great.
If Salt & Sanctuary is "2D Dark Souls", then Nine Sols is very much "2D Sekiro". One of the best games I've played this year.
I beat the game a few months ago, it's absolutely fantastic. Probably one of my favorite Metroidvanias, beating out Hollow Knight and Metroid Fusion on my list.
@anoyonmus @Keyblade-Dan Devotion is amazing, but in the interview I did with them, linked in the article, it just seems like they were burned by the entire experience.
I doubt it'll ever get ported, despite being fantastic.
@get2sammyb That's a terrible shame but I definitely understand I can't imagine going through what they did
@get2sammyb well that sucks indeed. But I get why.
Don't care about Silksong, we will be buying Nine Sols
Looks excellent. Some Okami vibes going on there as well. Glad to hear it's coming to PS4 as well, since I'm still to make the leap to current gen.
@NathanKang Silksong is dead at this point.
