Japan Sales Charts: PS5 Continues to Tank in Japan Following Price Increase 1

The latest weekly Japanese gaming charts have arrived, and it seems Sony is still struggling in its homeland. The good news is that Astro Bot is holding fairly steady in the physical software chart, currently in third place. The less good news is that it's only managed 28,521 copies to date; the current number one game, Kamaitachi no Yoru x3, reached almost that much in its first week. Digital sales will bump things up for the delightful platformer, so it's never as bad as it appears, to be fair.

On the hardware side of things, it's not very encouraging for the platform holder either. In the latest chart, it's in third place behind the Switch OLED and Switch Lite, having moved just 7,186 units — just over a thousand fewer than last week. It seems as though the recent price hike is to blame, as sales have slowed right down in the weeks following the move.
