Konami has committed to a second volume of its Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, but right now, it has not decided what games will be included in it. Speaking in the latest Metal Gear Production Hotline video, developer representatives touch on how it already had HD remasters of Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater to use for the first volume, making things smoother. However, while more modern entries in the series are in HD, they're "really big titles".
The "rough launch" of Vol. 1 is also touched upon, with Konami wanting to avoid any technical problems in a second lot of titles. "We're also worried about how Vol. 1 had a pretty rough launch, with all the issues, so we're going to do everything we can not to repeat that, but we just have to ask for everyone to give us time." It all sounds like, overall, a second Master Collection is still fairly far out, as Konami explains "it's going to be a little while until we can get a clear picture, but when we do, we'll let you know".
After Vol. 1 delivered the first three mainline entries in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, fan expectations have landed on a modern port of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for Vol. 2, alongside other possible titles like Peace Walker, The Phantom Pain, and Revengeance. Konami even teased that Guns of the Patriots may finally be released from its PS3 shackles in a second Master Collection, so it's aware the game isn't playable anywhere else natively.
What MGS games do you hope Master Collection Vol.2 consists of? Post your wishlist in the comments below.

Obviously MGS4 but would love to see Twin Snakes
Personally I would prefer seeing Portable Ops, or the GBC MGS game over things like V: The PP, or PW. There pretty easy to get. Revengence would be neat.
MGS 4 is a must
@Lyrick7 How is peace walker easy to get? that's still locked to either a psp copy or the hd collection on PS3/360
I hope one day they bring Revengeance to current gen consoles because I missed out on it (even had the xbox 360 back then). My only interaction with it was through clips of it on youtube and the famous scene with Senator Armstrong
mgs4 is a must solely so the nostalgia blind fans can watch it again and remember the game is still crap
Vol 2: MGS4, Portable ops, Metal Gear Ac!d 1 & 2 , and one of the old titles like the gbc game
Vol 3: Revengeance, Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, MGS 5
The bin: MG Survive
I really hope all the PSP games get in there along with of course MGS4. I never got around to playing the Acid games so that would be great to see.
They're working on it but haven't decided which games? How does that work?
I'll buy it if it have Acid 1 & 2 and Revengeance. But i'm not sure if the current Konami can port / remaster MGS 4 without any compromise.
Id imagine itl be Peace walker, MGS4, revengance. They could just do a ps5 native upgrade for mgs5 without being in a collection.
It's not that hard to choose which games come next in the series...
@evasdf game was never crap. End cut scene was way too long, but the actual gameplay was fantastic for the time.
@Lyrick7 peace walker is still locked to 360/PS3. No way to play on pc or modern consoles very well.
@Cloud39472 I assume they are working on porting every single game, but haven't decided which game will be in volume 2 and which will be in volume 3.
@dreadpirateflappy I feel anything with PlatinumGames is pretty good most of the time (Babylon's Fall is the extremely rare exception).
I really want MadWorld ported to PS someday.
Revengenace is a pipe dream tbh.
I've been enjoying Volume 1 of the collection, and would certainly be up for a Volume 2. MGS4 is the obvious choice to put in it, but I'd also like to see some of the lesser known games like the Acid games.
@dreadpirateflappy Ahh that would make sense. 4 would be the obvious one I'd imagine and maybe the portable games? I'd love to see revengeance though personally.
@dreadpirateflappy maybe for the first two acts but once the trailing section in act 3 comes in the morsels of gameplay youre fed become significantly less interesting and are all half baked. people are willing to overlook the shoddy gameplay because there were enough nostalgic callbacks to mgs to tide them over
@PuppetMaster Konami had a working version of MGS4 on Xbox 360. But, due to Xbox 360 using DVD instead of Blu-ray, it would have a chapter book of discs, so Konami canned it.
In other words, Cell was not required.
@dreadpirateflappy You can play Peace Walker on a 360, XBox One, Series S or Series X right now. It’s easily purchasable on the Xbox store, I snagged it digitally this weekend.
@GamingFan4Lyf I mean, Collection vol 1 doesn't have any improvement whatsoever compare to Bluepoint remaster for PS3. In fact, i believe Konami introduced corrupt save files and bugs or audio problems that doesn't exist on the original game or remaster that they keep releasing patch to fix the collection.
But ok then let's see if they can port / remaster MGS 4 to current console without any technical error cause i will lol'd so hard if the PS3 version is still better.
@PuppetMaster Konami’s investment in actually making sure the game runs fine is a much different conversation than the feasibility of porting the game.
I have zero confidence in modern Konami to make it happen. Konami will want to make it as cheap as possible.
As impressive as MGS Delta looks, it’s literally only a new coat of paint plastered over the original game - animations and all!
Personally I'd do MGS 4, Peace Walker and Rising
I only care about 4, so I can play 1, 2, 3, and 4, get all the trophies, all that stuff. Not bothered about the others honestly.
@evasdf Thank you! Someone else who agrees that MGS4 was terrible! MGS5 might have been rough in places, but at least it felt like an actual game (with a fun gameplay sandbox), rather than tiny bits of gameplay sprinkled between watching a series of the worst-written CGI movies of all time!
@dskatter the same is true of Rising Revengence! The 360 version is backcompat & thus still being sold digitally!
@bestuardo Yup. I got that as well in the last sale.
the pc version of metal gear 4 will come out in october 2024 with master collection vol 2 , i bet they are already testing that pc port now
@Rob_230 the important is that metal gear 4 pc version is included in the master collection vol 2 and that it come out in october 2024
