The Game Kitchen has announced it's planning two large Blasphemous 2 content drops for Halloween next month, with one taking the form of a paid DLC called Mea Culpa, and then a free update for all PS5, PS4 players. The former costs £11.99 / $11.99, with a 20 per cent discount available for two weeks after the 31st October 2024 launch. There'll be two new zones to explore, more bosses to defeat, extra quests, further NPCs, and even a brand new alternative ending. You can catch a brief glimpse in the trailer above.

The premium expansion will launch on the same day as a free update for all users, which is headlined by expanded and more connected zones, New Game+, and new enemies. "Choir of Thorns, Sunken Cathedral and Basilica of Ancient Faces have all been reforged with new challenges to explore and conquer," a press release reveals. Then, traversal has been sped up in zones you've already explored so you can get about faster. This all arrives on 31st October 2024, the same day as the Mea Culpa DLC.

Considered one of the best indie games released last year, we awarded a 9/10 rating in our Blasphemous 2 PS5 review, sharing praise for its refined combat system, excellent pixel visuals, and inviting Metrroidvania structure. "Blasphemous 2 takes the foundations of its well-received predecessor and builds upon it in all the right ways. Tweaking combat to make it faster, smoother, and more accurate, removing insta-death scenarios to make platforming more manageable, and packing the game full to the brim with secrets and collectibles."
