Sony’s released a new PS5 promo montage, which will presumably run on television and in YouTube ad reels over the coming months. The video simply declares “it’s time to play”, and includes footage of a variety of tentpole titles, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Astro Bot, God of War Ragnarok, Hogwarts Legacy, Helldivers 2, Tekken 8, Stellar Blade, and more.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Japanese giant markets PlayStation this holiday; usually it centres all of its promotions around Call of Duty, but since Xbox’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, it no longer has advertising rights to the first-person shooter. Instead it’s going to need to rely on its own selection of software, as glimpsed in the trailer above.
We suspect some will argue this trailer shows how weak the PS5 generation has been thus far, but to be fair, there are some damn good games here. We suppose what’s hurting PlayStation at the moment is its reluctance to show what’s coming next, with very few high profile first-party exclusives currently revealed.

Montage of lovely games tbh, this year has been my favourite so far on PS5 with Rebirth, Stellar and Astro really catering to my taste.
I’m also a huge Death Stranding fan so there’s that coming but I would love more of this kind of exclusives.
This will lead nicely into the PS5 Pro "It's time to pay" ad campaign
@Gremio108 the great thing about PS5 Pro is that it’s totally optional. Like, you won’t miss out on anything if you already have a PS5. I think Sony should put this fact in the ads as well. Because it seems like people don’t know this.
@Nei
DS2 and KCD2. First PS5 games I'm actually hyped for
@AhmadSumadi
Wrong. Non pro owners will miss the PSSR. Not a pretty sight
@Nei can't wait for Death stranding 2. I still haven't gotten round to playing Stellar blade yet but I think it will be my type of game
How about it's time for a showcase and time to show what your first party is working on
@AhmadSumadi So you're saying I don't have to buy one? That changes everything. I take it all back, the PS5 Pro is a bargain.
Finished Astrobot now.
Nothing else to play.
Back into the box it goes, until the next big exclusive. So... maybe next year?
@Steel76 I wish I had as much time as you. My list of games to play is probably over 100 now.
@AhmadSumadi Really? I thought Sony is forcing everyone to upgrade and it's not giving an option for those who're looking for more advanced tech and gaming experience.
Not everyone is buying iPhone Pro but a lot of them is getting the regular one if you know what I mean!!
It’s time to play (remasters of PS4 games)
@get2sammyb
I bought the PS5 for native next gen exclusives, everything else I can play on PC.
I don't have a backcatalog. After gaming for 45 years, I don't have the patience to play everything. I just pick the ones that look the most interesting to me, and worth my time.
There are maybe 8-10 games, I look forward to, and none of them is exclusive to the PS5.
I wish I could find 100 games that interested me 😂
I'm so ready for the pro I feel like finally we will be getting next gen
There are some really good games this gen including a lot of Sony 1st party, until this year when all we have had is the (Amazing) Astro.
I have really enjoyed everything from Insomniac, GOWR, Demon Souls, as well as others, and not to mention 3P titles like Hogwarts and Lies of P.
The problem is now Astro is out we have no real idea of what we can expect from Sony and when... do we have to wait another year I wonder, and if so, what on earth are they playing at?
@nedbvai until the ps6 comes out only 2 years later
@nomither6 yeah & that will cost £900 also I don't live for what might happen in 2 years I live for today. We might all be nuked into oblivion by then with the way things are going
@AhmadSumadi .....you want them to put "You don't have to buy this" in their marketing campaign? 😆
It’s time to reveal some new 1st party games.
@armondo36 Yes! Too many people don’t seem to know that it’s not mandatory.
It's funny that they chose the least recognizable footage from Black Myth: Wukong (right after Samurai Yasuke and before Kratos throw the Leviathan axe). Sony still doesn't know how to deal with promoting with this game yet....
