Update: We're still days away from the release of Astro Bot on PS5, but if you go looking for it, you can quite easily find a wealth of gameplay footage online. As noted in our original coverage (which you can still read below), people have been streaming Astro Bot on sites like Twitch and Kick, having managed to get their hands on early copies of the game.
Clips from those streams are now being passed around on social media, and although Sony seems to be shutting the leaks down as quickly as it can, there's basically no stopping them at this point. YouTube has also been hit with a wave of Astro Bot videos — some of which run through entire worlds and levels.
In short, if you want to head into Astro Bot blind this Friday, you may want to exercise caution when browsing your usual pages.
Original Story: Astro Bot doesn't release until the 6th September — this Friday! — but it would appear that physical copies of the game are already out in the wild. Various social media posts confirm that a handful of lucky fans have managed to track the PS5 title down — and some of them have even been able to stream the game online, through sites like Twitch.
Naturally, this means that spoilers could be heading our way, so caution is advised. While we doubt that Astro Bot will have any huge plot twists, there are definitely elements of the adventure that could be spoiled — like PlayStation character cameos and surprising gameplay moments that you'd much rather experience for yourself.
Here's hoping that spoilers are kept to a minimum over the next few days, then. For what it's worth, we're currently playing through Astro Bot for review purposes — and we can promise that said review will be spoiler-free!
Will you be attempting to avoid anything Astro Bot until Friday? Hold steady in the comments section below.

I'm happy to wait til Friday.
I love spoilers as much as everyone...
But as long as they don't post spoilers in the titles, it's a non-issue.
Spoiler Warning: GOTY
(Well, i hope so at least)
"Astro Bot doesn't release until the 6th September — this Friday! — but it would appear that physical copies of the game are already out in the wild.."
Why so surprised? This is normal. Back when I used to buy games from Shopto and simplygames they'd regularly dispatch them ahead of release day and I'd have them days early. This 'news' is as old as internet shopping.
@riceNpea and before that many of us had mates who worked at Dixons, Currys or elsewhere who would slip the games to us a little early. I used to play most big titles up to a week early, as soon as they got stock, but there was no internet to brag about or spoil it. Nor any interest in doing so.
I will be (not) watching out for spoilers but in all fairness alots been shown already. More than i wish id watched anyway.
Already downloaded! Couldn’t really find any big deals for the physical version, only about a fiver less than the RRP, so bought it digitally. Will be rushing home from work on Friday 😃
@WhiteRabbit Savage. No one deserves that level of torture.
I have only seen the first trailer. This is a game I want to be surprised by!!
@themightyant that's true. I had a mate at an independent outlet who used to sort me out games early in my Amiga days. And then before that an older brother of a friend worked at WHSmiths where they used to keep the cassettes in the case on the shelf. He used to get us Spectrum games well in advance!
Spoilers: Astro Bot is about the friends we made along the way.
Now I am wondering who is going to die! Can there really be many spoilers for a platformer?
I really hope this game sells/does well and who knows maybe this can be Sony's version of Mario......
I wonder if the PS5 Pro will appear in the playroom. Could be a cool way to announce it.
Er... Astro Bot wins?
I didn't play Astrobot Playroom because of unskipable necessity of PS4 camera. Do Astro Bot suffer same issue? (I think it is not spoiler, rather question about system requirements)
@riceNpea Always nice to see the Amiga mentioned, I held on to mine long enough to see it get CD and HDD drives until it died in the early noughties. I mean go kaput.
I used to run a video game shop and I often got to play game early, I remember once we got a PS3 Dynasty Warriors game in 2 weeks before it's release date! They usually only let us have them 1 or 2 days early. Like they didn't trust us or something. Lol.
I gotta wait until it's about £30 with my budget anyway.
@BecauseBecause very nice! Loved my Amiga. Best machines I ever owned during the best times for gaming in any era (I've been a gamer since the 70s) Had most of the Amigas, 500, 500+, 600 and 1200. An absolute dream of a machine in an age of gaming after the madness off the free-for-all of the 80s and the psychological manipulation of the internet age.
Well if anything pops up I'll avoid, hopefully my preorder might arrive earlier.
Want it to be Friday!
@B0udoir
I commented way back at the 1st trailer that i thought they missed a big trick -
As the playstation ships join formation, the "flagship" should have been revealed to be the PS5 PRO, and astro could have hopped on board...
Either that or the PS5 crashed in the desert could have been rebuilt into a PRO.
(Can you imagine how it would have boosted views and interest!)
Been waiting on the last trophy with the secret bot in Playroom. Maybe they can release it early now 😅
I'd say a very difficult franchise to spoil. Although, even some established ones are hard to. Like telling someone Gandolf is the BIG BAD in the next Zelda game
SPOILER ALERT

Sephiroth kills him at the end of disc 1.
@riceNpea I use to use John Menzies newsagents for my cassette games on C64. Its mad thinking back how it used to where they would have a single box out and the sleeve just listed all the machines the game was on. No rivalry just good times playing Dizzy games.
@Ilyn good times indeed. When computer game magazines had actual cassette tapes of some homebred game on it sellotaped to the cover! Innocent times 😁
Really surprised the review embargo isn’t until this Thursday as well. The day before release.
@Ilyn
Dizzy really was eggcellent... (oh dear..)
I mean, how can you spoil games like this one? Is there really a story?
@Jayofmaya
I may have misunderstood, but all four of the 'dlc' secret bots are out for playroom - i collected them Sunday night.
Suggest "check for update" to force it through.
@BloodyBlact quite easily. Locations, bosses, upgrades/weapons etc.
Im surprised that over the years of this being an issue publishers/Sony havent worked out a way to stop early copies being played... (well, except review copies of course!)
That's the only problem with streamers. They always try to be the 1st to play everything to get the views.
***** to everyone else
@riceNpea I remember when I convinced my dad to buy a 5 3/4 drive out of the Quids In section of the paper and the guy selling it gave us about 100 discs. Including multiple of extremelly pixelated C64 porn...(not so) innocent times
I forgot this is out in just a few days! How exciting. I've been loving the Dadstation Portal, but I'll need the kids to play this one too.
@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah sometimes I wish I didn't get to see any Mario Odyssey before release. New Donk City and the T-Rex specifically.
Spoilers on a platformer with no story? Yeah sure.
@GigaGaia The spoiler is.... there is credits at the end
@WhiteRabbit I've only just gone back and platinumed playroom much to my shame. Hoping to go and pick up the bots before Friday Can I ask, did it take you long?
I can confirm there are no Astro Bot spoilers on Brazzers and similar sites
@Czar_Khastik you mean to say i wasted the past 3 hours trawling Brazzers for nothing. Could have told me before i wasted a box of latex gloves and a roll of Andrex.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Andrex sounds like an anti-zombie drug in like Days Gone or something.
@Ilyn ha! That's excellent! It must've been a difficult wnk 😆
@Czar_Khastik I bet it made you so angry you couldn't find any spoilers, you just sat there shaking your fist.
@LikelySatan 😂😂 high quality toilet paper. Also available with an aloe Vera coating. Good for the starfish 😂
Realistically the only spoiler anyone needs for Astro Bot is: is it a 10?
@Kidfunkadelic83 But your star fish might be allergic, so it'll end up itchy
I got my copy today.
Only played for an hour, but SPOILERS this is already my GOTY.
After a very stressful summer, this is exactly what I needed
I hope this sells well now, so we get more games like this from SONY.
@Ephexis83 always read the small print just to make sure.
Im at work but Amazon says mine was delivered today. Kinds weird how they usually ship games a day or 2 early when you live in the middle of nowhere. I guess it’s just to assure its delivery at launch. Probably cant play it till Saturday anyway. I got GTA 5 a day early back in 2013. Now that was awesome. This is just meh
@djlard Astro's Playroom didn't use a camera. You are thinking of the free PS4 launch title The Playroom. Astro's Playroom is a platformer with levels comprised of hardware throughout the history of Playstation. There are around 20 levels and it is pre-installed on all PS5 consoles. It is probably the best platformer on the system. That is why everyone is excited for Astrobot. 80 levels across 6 galaxies.
@GrimWillows Uhh I was thinking it's the same... Going to give it a try tomorrow (if it can be downloaded again)
@riceNpea love the Amiga just like you, and enjoying Sensible Soccer and Lotus 2 via Miyoo Mini Plus 👍🏻
@Luigia Sensi is like a cherished friend from the past.
@riceNpea you’re a goal staring superstar hero ❤️⚽️
@Luigia haha! Love it.
War!... has never been so much fun....
@djlard yes it can. It is free.
@Rich33 Thanks, I'll boot it up later and hunt around!
@Jayofmaya
No probs - Pushsquares guide helped - a couple are very "unconventional" solutions.
@tselliot Gandolf as the main villan in a Zelda game would be a major surprise. Maybe Aragorn could be a sub-boss?
