I am really fatigued with this series 😅. After the announcement of Ghost Of Yotei I weep even more since that game is doing what I wanted TLOU II to do make the series an anthology about different characters
@Keyblade-Dan I mean, to be fair, they did introduce a new character — and the Internet collectively cried about it.
@get2sammyb I mean considering what the character does, it wasn't a surprise.
I enjoy a bit TLOU but incredible how they've managed 6/7 releases from 2 entries.
If only they added Factions to the damn game!
Well... time to play the two games back to back again only to wonder why I did that to myself. And they'll finally get my $10 for the Part II upgrade.
@get2sammyb Yeah, as @AdamNovice says, imagine if the new main character of Ghost of Yotei, Atsu, brutally murders Jin with a mastercrafted samurai golf club. The internet would hate that too.
I actually think what they did was good from a story perspective in the sense that Joel did a lot of bad things, especially at the end of the first game, and he'd have enemies. And how it pays off with Ellie becoming another Abby, the cycle repeating.
You just can't introduce a new character in that way and expect people to typically like them, though. Imagine if there was a Lord of the Rings 2 and an early scene is the new protagonist murdering Sam while Frodo looks on, screaming. Granted, Sam didn't go on a killing spree... unless you count him killing orcs with a frying pan.
Even for free, I have zero interest in a one directional, short zombie game. No thanks. There's just nothing about the games that looks appealing whatsoever to me.
@get2sammyb As others said mainly because she murdered Joel the beloved main character from the first game what I meant was Joel and Ellie having their stand alone story left alone and telling the story of different survivors completely unrelated to anything from Joel and Ellie's tale. I mean Atsu isn't going to be Murdering Jin at the start of Ghost Of Yotei y'know 😅
Forget the characters and story bring on the rat king, the infected are the real stars of the show. Shotgun and molotov cocktail lets party.
@get2sammyb
I see what you did there.
I could never bother to finish this on ps3. I might give it another shot.
I'm surprised Sony and Naughty Dog didn't create a special 'Last of Us Part 1 PS Plus Extra Extended Edition GOTY Deluxe Edition" just for PS Extra, with 2 extra cut-scenes.
Been waiting for a while to try this version. Way too expensive to buy brand new, not enough discount so far either.
Regarding the LOU2 discussion above - I consider their direction incredibly brave. It'd have been so much easier and safer to make the game we all thought would come, with Joel and ellie once again. The story shook us all. Traumatized us all. And sent us on a killing spree in the first half of the game. No one cared about killing a dog. And then we find out their names, then we play with them. That's the whole angle, the other perspective you don't want to acknowledge from the safety of your comfort zone. I like Abby as a character, but I'm Team Ellie ALL the WAY.
Too many people crying about this.
It is an universally acclaimed series that many people love. It just became cool to hate on it because they killed a beloved character for the purpose of their story and also because somehow people thought it became 'woke' or something for really nonsense reasons. Always thought this was just American Xbox players review bombing the game, but apparently there were people who really believed it and needed a big hug.
I haven't played the first game in a decade and now having this critically praised remastered version included in my subscription at no extra cost is great.
.
@get2sammyb "But why was the brand new character who murdered the protagonist of the previous game a controversial addition?"
"Imagine if the new main character of Ghost of Yotei, Atsu, brutally murders Jin with a mastercrafted samurai golf club. The internet would hate that too."
Yes, and it's ridiculous.
@get2sammyb "Yes, and it's ridiculous".
What's ridiculous about that? The idea that people could get worked up about it or the scenario itself? Because frankly, if it's the former, then i find it very hard to believe that someone who is one of the main writers for a video game fansite can not understand how and why people get emotionally attached to fictional characters.
Some people take it too far. Yeah, sure. But ridiculous? Absolutely not.
No online mode only replay value for me as I enjoyed it don't care to replay story again
