Activision seems ready to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise, as the official Twitter and YouTube pages have been updated with fresh artwork marking the historic moment. Seen below, the image uses a blacked-out version of the Tony Hawk silhouette from the recent Pro Skater 1 + 2 remakes alongside the all-new "25th anniversary THPS" phrasing.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was originally released for PS1 in the USA on 29th September 1999, so if Activision has any firm plans to celebrate the milestone, they're more likely to be revealed later on in the month. The classic then made its way to Europe three weeks later on 18th October 1999, with Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, and Dreamcast ports coming a year later.
After the complete failure of Pro Skater 5 in 2015, the series laid dormant until Vicarious Visions came along with the aforementioned remakes of the first two games, bundled together for modern platforms. It's reported Activision rejected remakes of Pro Skater 3 and Pro Skater 4 in favour of further work on the Call of Duty franchise, so whether this new 25th-anniversary celebration could spawn something noteworthy is up in the air. Specifically, the Facebook version of the new branding claims the celebration will take place "all month long", so there could be multiple updates and pieces of news over the coming weeks.
Do you think much of anything will come out of this celebration? Share your hopes in the comments below.

Don't give me hope of 3 + 4 remake. Not again.
You'd think now MS own the IP (don't they) they would give the go ahead for a remake of 3 and 4 but again they won't
I always found a 3+4 remake an odd choice. 4 is more like THUG, making 3 DLC for 1+2 would be better in my opinion, it doesn't matter though, I don't see them announcing anything.
It’s MS owned so I wouldn’t be worrying over on PlayStation anyway.
I hope it comes to something, but I'm not holding my breath. I still regularly load up 1 and 2 remake, which are both fantastic. Although I do miss the times of the original, had some great times playing with my circle of friends, some of whom are no longer around
As Sony are finally adding PS2 games to PS4/5 its about time the Underground games were added.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner have you forgotten MS need PS gamers now?
Please give us 3 loved the 1 and 2 remake so much spent hours on it.
They should throw us a curve ball, buy the rights to SSX3 and remake that instead, with all the original tunes.
I still play my launch day copy of THPS 3 on my PS2 regularly. One of my favs
THPS3 with Bam Margera, yes please!!
THPS 3 is peak of the series imo. Give that game the THPS 1-2 remake treatment, please.
Give us 3-4 you cowards
I doubt Pro Skater 3 will be announced, it's much like the first 2... But I'd get a remake of Thug/Thaw for sure 😁
Pleeeeeeaase at least give us 3. THPS4 might be my favourite in the series alongside THUG but I’d kill for 3 since it’s closer to 1+2.
THUG remake would really float my boat...
Or, how about a new THPS game entirely?!
Not going to hold my breath, but it's not impossible that Beenox could be working on THPS 3+4 remakes alongside the CoD support. They have around 300 employees. Maybe they rejected Vicarious Visions' pitch because they already decided that studio was merging with Blizzard, not because they didn't want to produce the project. So it fell to another team that worked on the 1+2 remake.
Unlikely, but not impossible.
