Fortnite Will Unify Progression Across All PS5, PS4 Experiences 1

Epic continues to iterate upon Fortnite’s progression, and has decided to unify everything around its existing Battle Pass XP system. Throughout this year, it’s released various Festival Passes and LEGO Passes with their own unique objectives and currencies. Beginning with Fortnite Festival Season 6, it will connect all progression to the existing Battle Pass.

While it sounds complicated on paper, this is a simplification. It means all your quests and all your XP will contribute to everything, whether it’s the renamed Music Pass, LEGO Pass, or existing Battle Pass. So it doesn’t matter what you’re playing or how you’re playing, you’ll be making progress towards all three.

“As you progress through pass tiers with XP, you’ll be able to claim rewards on the unlocked pages of each active pass you have,” the developer explains. “Rewards may be claimed in non-sequential order on all passes, in the same way that you can with the Battle Pass now. You’ll also be able to set each pass to auto-claim the next reward when it becomes available to you.”

It’s worth remembering you will need to purchase a pass to get all of the rewards, although there’ll still be free items to claim as well. Epic says there’ll be an “easy way” to purchase all three passes at once, and it’ll have more information on that in the future.

We suppose this also simplifies things for any games or experiences it may add to Fortnite in the future. It looks like the company is waving the white flag on Rocket Racing, but we’re fairly confident it’ll be cooking new modes and concepts in the future, as it transforms Fortnite into a full-fledged platform.
