Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has just dropped another substantial patch for its sci-fi co-op shooter, finishing its big push to improve the experience for all players.
The new update is now available for both the PS5 and PC versions of the game, featuring an enormous list of fixes and changes. All of the patch notes can be read through here, or alternatively, the devs go over everything in the above video.
In a nutshell, the latest patch makes more balancing tweaks across the whole game, including weapons, stratagems, armour, and enemies. Some heavy enemies have had their armour reduced, while rockets fired from Devastators and Gunships have been limited. Additionally, adjustments have been made to enemy spawning, as well as targeting and vision for the Automatons, making for a fairer fight.
Performance has also been looked at, with some changes made to further optimise the game and ensure it's smoother to play.
While Arrowhead's 60-day plan to turn things around has reached its conclusion, the studio is committing to an even more transparent and collaborative relationship with the players. "As we keep building this game, we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open through regular player surveys, improved patch notes, and more frequent updates via blog posts and streams," the team writes in an update on Steam. "We will also continue to expand our closed betas, to make sure we catch valuable feedback early."
As with all live service titles, Helldivers 2 is far from done with updates and new content. We imagine things will continue to ebb and flow for a long time. For right now, though, it appears the recent changes made to the game have been received very positively, so hopefully things continue in this direction.

Arrowhead really pulled it off. Even before this patch, the last update made the game so much more enjoyable on the highest difficulties again.
Amazing patches. Love this game so much. Possibly my GOTY
It’s just a shame that live service titles allow for this to happen in the first place. Although I haven’t personally played this, talking to friends about it, the game released in pretty good shape and was a huge amount of fun and just got tampered with too much. Although a completely different game, Sea of Thieves is going through the same thing. It launched on PS5 in fantastic shape and was a huge amount of fun to play, but after the last few patches in particular, combat wise it’s now no fun at all. The good thing about Arrowhead is that they are willing to listen to the fans, but Rare it feels just don’t give a ***** at all!!
Helldivers II is definitely my favourite game I've played this year (followed closely by Thank Goodness You're Here) and long may Super Earth's fight for freedom, liberty and managed democracy continue. My crew on the SES Elected Representative of Family Values is ready.
@Bionic-Spencer I would argue that combat in Sea of Thieves was never fun.
Another exquisite update. The game has been fun as hell all along, but keeps getting better!
@Markatron84 I only bought into Sea of Thieves when it was released on PlayStation 5, so I am not really in a position to comment about the combat aspects of the game from anytime beforehand, but the combat experience me and my group had when the game first arrived was very enjoyable. We actively searched for Reaper ships to attack as we knew that we had more of a chance of winning than losing. It became my most played game of the year until the updates I mentioned. If I had gone into Sea of Thieves as a new player today, I would 100% agree with you, but when the game launched, I and the guys and gal I play with thought combat was fantastic! Of course, this is simply my own opinion and you are more than entitled to your own. 🙏🏻
@Bionic-Spencer To be frank, the game wasn’t is an amazing state at launch. The need that broke the camel’s back was the flamethrower, it wasn’t that great to start with. It was buffed because it’s a live-service game. We just had another strong weapon and didn’t notice at first because we were still figuring out all the weapons. The launch day game simply didn’t have anything “taken away”. There’s definitely tinted glasses for looking at it though.
I think you bring up a good point about some games though.
Friends and I have started to play this during weekends again, always good fun killing each other "accidentally" lol
Glad they fixed spawn rates, so many automotans 💀
Time to 'dive' back in!!!
Sony really needs to push this game more to bring back the community.
Its so much better it was with the part 1 patch of the 60 day commitment or should I say 63 days lol as day 60 landed on a Saturday and they don't do anything on weekends.
But even then it was so much better but I have yet to try part 2 of it I will tonight, their are some issues still that have even around for months now not fixed. But hopefully they will now concentrate on those and not slack off and get some performance issues fixed as well on PC it's really sluggish sometimes and connection issues are bad
I still say Sony should make this a multi platform game and get it out on Xbox for everyone to enjoy. They are on to a winner here they just need to sort out those blacked counties if they can but until then get it on Xbox consoles to add more players to enjoy it
I was one of those peeved off about what they were doing, particularly around the fire update when it all came to a boil, but I have to admit I didn’t expect them to improve so much so soon. Always brilliant when devs actually listen to feedback and everyone is back to enjoying it again. Yet there were people who were telling us to shut up when we were raising the complaints. We wouldn’t have got here otherwise, you need a dialogue and devs can tell when it’s disingenuous.
