A lot of column inches have been written about PSVR2’s lack of first-party software support, but the headset has been well serviced with a hearty selection of third-party games. There’s some really good stuff on the way over the coming months, too, with Metro Awakening and Alien: Rogue Incursion looking like real highlights.
This seven-minute gameplay video gives you a good idea of what to expect from Vertigo’s adaptation of Dmitry Glukhovsky’s infamous post-apocalyptic novel. This covers the prologue of the game and it’s filled with tons of immersive details, as you drink with your comrades around a campfire and tinker with a guitar in your safe room.

The thing with virtual reality which is always difficult to illustrate until you try it for yourself is just how much texture the technology gives you. When you play on a television, you’re effectively looking through a window into another world; when you play with PSVR2, you’re immersed inside it. We can already imagine how all the little details here will make for an incredible experience.
The full game is due out on 5th November, and we should have a full review to share with you when the embargo lifts. Until then, we’ll leave you with this gameplay trailer to whet your appetite – it all looks outrageously promising, doesn’t it?

Yep I will be there, might wait and play it a couple of days later on the Pro though, looks good!
@Mostik Same here, love Metro.
I don’t own a VR system, but I might shell out some money if this turns out well. Metro is one of my favorite franchises, and I wouldn’t mind seeing what VR is all about.
I love this series, and this looks like it could be one of the best VR games out there. I think the immersion will be incredible.
I have it preordered, but will wait until my pro arrives before i start it! Sony took the money from my account for the pro today, so not long now!
I will buy it on my pro!
Definitely be getting it at some point. Looks tremendous
Already preordered. Not long to go, great week with PS5 Pro and this next week. Really looking forward to it.
If the psvr2 wasn't an utter disappointment then yes maybe I would have
I got a PSVR in the latest Days of Play sale so I'm really looking forward to this.
Already own PSVR 2 and already preordered Metro
If they do another offer on them like before i will get one. Cant see it happening this side of christmas tho.
I chose the “I already have VR2 and I’ll buy it” option, but if the reviews turn out as poorly as, say, Bulletstorm’s, I’ll not be buying it.
Hopefully I will have complete Max Mustard by the time this comes out. I been loving my psvr2 this year.
Where is the option for "Ill be playing this on the Meta Quest". Ha
It looks great. Metro is such a great series and I can absolutely see it being really good in VR. I sadly just don't have one but if I did this would be a must play.
I'm probably in the minority here. I have a PSVR2. If I could use the DualSense controller instead of the PSVR2 Sense controllers with most games, I would use the headset a lot more. That's how I play GT7. The idea of having to 'learn' new controllers/buttons and needing the arm space for them - puts me off (looking at you RE Village). Just give me the option (I'm sure it's harder to give me that option than I think).
@Gator_Rican nah I can see what you mean. and to add to that I sometimes just don't want to put in the effort of swinging my arms around in a game. i'm trying to chill, not exert myself. but yeah, kind of a minor quibble I suppose.
And on another probably unpopular note I wish we could get more VR experiences that aren't first person. These devs act like that's the entire scope of what one can experience in VR. Well I'm sorry but Diablo in VR, awesome. Sims in VR, awesome. Astro Bot in VR, the best! Or heck, imagine some kind of hybrid side scroller VR amalgamation. Like i don't know, experiment a little. Dare I say, be creative. Just taking the same old fps and making it VR is just not it if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, it's cool. But is that it? That's all we can do with this tech?
Looks great. Wish they would bring the mainline Metro games into VR, as well.
Yeah, Metro and Alien are definitely two of the highlights, but I would add Behemoth and Wanderer.
@Kraven If it plays anything like the RE VR games then it will be very good. There are a lot of people who try to bash the PSVR2 but personally I would say it utterly transforms how you play games and raises them to a whole new level. Its the little things on RE that stand out like looking over your shoulder and being able to shoot the thing coming up behind you in the head without fully turning around. Or having to back pedal whilst grabbing a clip, putting it in your gun and pulling back the slide rather than just Press Square to Reload. And also completely rethinking what weapons are good because the usual god tier sniper rifles are so much harder to use when you factor in your arms doing the aiming and your shaking like mad.
I have a quest 2, so I bought the game on steam. I will possibly upgrade to a quest 3.
I’ve got a Quest 3 & PC so will be getting it on Quest with cross buy.
Will miss the immersion of the PSVR2 haptics, but I can play cable free & with out a PC if I’m away from home
Yeah the mura, reprojection & small sweet spot in my psvr2 annoy me enough to prefer the Quest 3 for anything I can run through the PC.
I just wish we had the PSVR2 level of haptics.
I’m surprised that Sony’s been pretty quiet on what the Pro is going to do for VR, apart from PSSR.
If GT7 got rid of reprojection & upgraded to the same level as the flat version, I’m all in.
(Triple screen support or motion compensation would be on the wish list too but I’m being realistic 😂)
On paper this is an almost perfect set up for VR. "The Metro" was one of the most atmospheric settings since Rapture in Bioshock. Hope it pans out well.
Yes this looks amazing 👏
The kind of game that PSVR2 needs and a fan of the Metro series. Might not buy it immediately but was excited for this.
Another VR2 game with a lot of mura, why do they only release games in dark environments knowing that they have that handicap?
Its a reason to already have one. But I own a PC and a quest 2. I might upgrade to a quest 3 if a black Friday deal pops up. This game is going to slap. Huge fan of the series.
