Hello Games will celebrate Halloween in style this month in the form of a new time-limited No Man's Sky event known as The Cursed. It goes live today and will be available for three weeks, and sees space explorers turn their normal ship into an alien UFO to explore "haunted worlds" housing new enemies and boss battles on a larger scale than anything else in the game before. See all this in action in the trailer above.
Instead of the usual protection you receive from outside hazards in your spacesuit, you must instead maintain and care for an Anomoloy Suppressor. The day / night cycle can also quickly change, and you won't be able to simply hyperdrive away from a planet. "Instead, interstellar travel requires careful planning and use of the ancient portal network."
The press release continues: "Haunting voices leak through from another dimension, providing guidance, information, strange blueprints… and mystery. Players will have to decide who these voices belong to, where they are coming from, and if they are to be trusted." For completing the new Expedition, you'll earn rewards like horror-esque customisation options for your Exosuit and a proper alien spaceship.
The Expedition goes live today, but Hello Games will follow it up in the coming weeks with details and the eventual launch of a PS5 Pro patch. Will you be returning to No Man's Sky to check out the new event? Let us know in the comments below.

Oh hell yeah this sounds awesome.
The gift that keeps on giving! I need to give it another try in VR aswell
VR is such an experience and i hope they will do something with the PRO/PSVR2 in regards to quality and resolution. Unfortunately it is not my preferred genre but i might hop back in to try the ufo thing, sounds great. This team is one of the best out there, they just love their game.
For a UFO ship Oh yeah I have the time. Both No mans sky and Elite Dangerous have been 2 of my top go to space games.
@JohnKarnes I love love love NMS in VR, one of the best games ever. I JUST started Elite Dangerous. I remember trying ED years and years ago and I couldn't even dock my ship in the tutorial without blowing up and gave up. I figured I'd try in VR. Just tried it yesterday, and instead of the ship docking tutorial I get a ground first person shooter, and find out the ground parts aren't in VR at all. WTF? It's now this weird NMS experience but only half in VR.
