Update: Not much later than the publishing of this article, and it seems all services have been restored. As you were, then!
Original Story: The PlayStation Network is experiencing global issues right now, with most of its online features currently down.
The PSN status webpage tells us that account management, online play, streaming, the PS Store, and more are currently affected by these problems. Official word on this page says Sony is "working to resolve the issue as soon as possible".
Word about the outage began last night at roughly 1am BST (according to Down Detector), meaning the network has been down for several hours so far. Sony logged its official notice about the issues about an hour later.
The last time PSN went down was back in July, when services were restored a few hours later. Hopefully this current downtime won't last for too much longer.
We'll update this story when things turn around. Have you been experiencing issues with PSN? Tell us in the comments section below.

Weird, I was playing Genshin and HSR late last night and again this morning with no problems. I can only assume this is an isolated problem. EDIT: It seems 12:30am and 9am were OK. Down in between.
Things like this are why I will never own a digital only console
Good job I play single player disc games haha
Interesting timing given the PS5 UI bug yesterday. A sign of a wider issue perhaps?
I checked, I can still play vampire survivors and Balatro, everything is OK!
Phew!
Was down in the very early hours but back up for me now.
@carlos82 You can still play digital games if psn is down, you just can't use online services. It's no different for disc.
@carlos82 you mean in order to download a game you feel like playing at the moment?
@Intr1n5ic there have been times where digital licences have been affected leaving people unable to play and there was a bug earlier this year where some users were unable to access their digital library for 3 weeks
@naruball this is simply one of the reasons, Sony just raised the price of Horizon because they felt like it and a world where the PlayStation store is the only way to buy their games will not be beneficial for the consumer
I was playing the 3/10 game The first Descendant with no issues last night, very strange, I'm sure toxic xbox fan will try to warp this somehow.
I finally set up my PlayStation right before the outage. And wondered why it wouldn’t connect. So, you’re welcome everyone! I did this!😹
@carlos82 yeah, I get it. It can be quite frustrating.
The store still worked for me but my trophies were screwed up. I had to go offline to see the info - and it was saying I had zero trophies in games where that isn't the case.
Someone tripped over the network cable! I saw a message pop up, but i was playing Blasphemous so i didnt care
@carlos82 I've never experienced this myself, but that sucks for anyone who unfortunately has.
It's already fixed like 2 hours ago. Been playing Exit Man and got the Platinum trophy. What a fun game but i wish there's a PvP online mode.
@carlos82 because you have so little to do in life that some offline hours with a console is so shattering?
The one fun thing about this happening was getting to see what the PS5 ui looks like totally free of noise and clutter.
It is quite a beautiful, simple thing to be honest.
I heard it was due to Phil Spenser hitting that cross.... I mean "ex" button too hard.
Couldn’t play ESO so I played Star Wars Outlaws. No internet, so I played the game that didn’t require it. Also, digital only console. 🤷🏾♂️
@Medic_alert you can always just disconnect your wifi/unplug your ethernet . i think there’s an option to go offline from psn too .
Yeah, this was quite annoying. I couldn’t connect and even booting up Dark Souls 2 from the disc wouldn’t work because it would get hung up trying to load the trophy list. So I ended up playing Vampire Survivors on my phone. 🫤
@nomither6 I know, it doesn't bother me that much.
I just thought it was interesting with this week's upset that the original design is so clean and how easily that can change if marketing get involved
I didn't even notice that.i was playing assassins creed odysey until after 9 oclock.word up son
@Kidfunkadelic83 Perhaps Xbox should change their name to CrossBox - they often seem quite angry!
Removed - unconstructive feedback
I wasn't affected but my friend was, which is weird because we live in the same region.
@Oram77
Oh they are already warping stuff, Microsoft is back with their covert ops the same one they used back when this gen began.
My library is fully digital since the PS3, and my son's is too. Worth noting this morning he dragged me out of bed before school because his games were not working.
To be specific these games didn't work
Poppy Playtime Chapter 3
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2
Fortnite
Roadblox
What did work
Astrobot
I was suprised that Poppy Playtime failed to load, both of them are single player games with no online features. Obviously Fortnite and Roadblox need a connection to PSN to function.
Perhaps Sony trying to add obstructive ads to the PS5 had something to do with this mess.
After the massive backslash Sony had no choice than to rush and remove those ads while breaking everything else in their servers.
Things like this just happen every now and then with everyone, from Microsoft to banks and even mobile network providers.
Aslong as it gets fixed quickly I won't let it bother me.
That explains a lot. I went to fire up the Metaphor demo last night, and it gave a licensing error. I needed to get to sleep early anyway.
I logged to play Borderlands 3, and when I got to check my trophies I noticed the outtage. It even messed with my character build, as I have the Designer's Cut DLC, the new ability tree disappeared. Today in the morning the PSN returned and I checked the game, could return all to normal. But it's very incovenient, they warned the game would log-off due to license issues. I hate that, we buy the product but sometimes can't play it.
