I preordered the Pro with Currys this morning
You tease! For a split second I stupidly thought this was about the bundle then 😂
Currys - £170 trade in for my phat ps5, they can stick that, ill keep my ps direct pro order and flog the phat on gumtree (other trading sites are available) 😃
$700.00?
No disc drive?
No enhancements without developers' patch?
No thank you
@Jrs1 yeah I saw that, it's a joke when even CEX start at £232 cash for a discounted PS5
@carlos82 are they really giving that for a boxed ps5? As I’m sticking with my PRO preorder so I’ll be looking to trade the old girl in when it’s here
Why do you even mention Amazon? By the time you manage to put the article together, scalpers have already cleaned Amazon's stocks, from every region.
@Mikey856 that price is for unboxed, for boxed it's £243 cash or £294 store credit
Sold out. Not a surprise, but still gutted I couldn’t get one.
@Major_Player every 1st party game will be patched + games using dynamic resolution and/or unlocked framerate will benefit from the extra GPU power without a patch.

@roe Darn it, same thing here. Need more coffee.
Definitely thought this was the 30th bundle.
Can’t call click bait here though 😂
I'm still unable to buy the disc drive ☹️
@SuzannahE
It’s funny the Pro enthusiasts always assume that whoever complains about the Pro can’t afford one. I decided to get an Alienware OLED monitor instead of PS5 Pro because ALL my games will benefit from the upgrade. I’ll happily wait for PS6 to experience a bigger jump in graphical fidelity, but I don’t bash those who want to get the Pro.
@carlos82 Aye i forgot to add that about CEX.
Will this make the PS5 Disc Edition go up in trade in price? hence the whole no disc drive fiasco? I guess it won't?
@Major_Player Just like when one buys a better GPU for their PC, the Pro will make games run better if the games are not patched.
Im just so pissed at Sony for doing this. They are absolutely pushing people to pre-order the standard pro model by making this thing insanely difficult to get. I also just dont understand why they cant make and sell a ton of the controllers at least to give people a chance to get something of the 30th. Infuriating.
@carlos82 ha laughing then. PRO will be £400 odd. Best get in there quick before CEX drop the values a bit lol.
Just cancelled my pre-order here in Germany through PS Direct and went with GameStop for the Trade-In option.
@gollumb82 yeah, gets a little old. I'm decidedly not broke precisely because I don't spend my money on what I consider to be foolish things. Now that definition is certainly in the eye of the beholder, so I understand it differs from person to person but simple fact of the matter is I don't see the value in this upgrade. It's really not about affordability.
I've just cancelled my PS Direct Pro order and ordered from Argos instead (UK). Double Nectar points at the mo, and will use those plus others I've accumulated towards a Disc Drive in the future. That should slightly blunt the blow of having to buy it separately. 😒 Plus more payment options, such as Paypal Credit (with 0% interest).
Got my Pro pre-ordered from Very, let’s goooooooo
Aaaaand it's gone.
@gollumb82 That was me also, bruv. I cancelled my PRO preorder and instead bought myself a Samsung a 65 QN90D. My OG PS5 is still going strong, so I I'll wait for the PS6 instead.
@mynameisjames An extra £3.50 Nectar points spent wisely!
@TheKurgan Every little helps, right? 😆😭
@mynameisjames Too right! 🤣
Gosh, I got the Slim 30th edition version.
Was gone in 1 min here. o.O
I hope some of you, who want one, get the chance too.
Not going to bother with any more consoles untill the ps6 and next gen xbox
Pro seems utterly pointless to me
@StylesT I don't pretend to understand Brannigan's Law. I merely enforce it. .. haha sorry, I just giggled at your avatar.
@revansgc Brannigan's Law is like Brannigan's love: hard and fast.
Lol couldn’t help it you made me chuckle
Back on topic, I’d love an anniversary ps5 but just don’t think it’s worth it for me personally. Looks super cool tho. I’m probably going to get one of those controllers tho, they look too cool to skip, to play PSOne classic games obviously lol
@LordFunkalot Lmao! xD
I was able to get a PS5 Pro order in at Target. It isn't much, but I got a 5% discount that way.
I'm just gonna hope that those sweet 30th Anniversary DualSense controllers will be widely available at retailers come November 10th. GameStop in Canada not doing preorders might be the way to go to get this stuff, like the old days.
People are still whining about the price 🥱
I preorder my today at best buy I'm keeping my basic PS5 putting that on my computer monitor putting the pro on the TV.
Excellent, have now secured mine (UK) already bought the disc drive and a stand as I didn't think it came with either but the picture on Argos showed it on a stand? Anyone know the score with this? Does it come with one?
Taken the plunge and preordered PS5 Pro.
On the PlayStation direct store UK.
They use DPD delivery service and have ordered stuff before, excellent delivery service and free delivery on PS Direct.
Pre-ordered the pro from Amazon. Had a gift card for $300 and am selling my old ps5 for $300. I didn't want to do it at first, but the PS5 is my primary gaming unit and I want the best experience I can get on it.
Gave in and preordered the Pro on Amazon this morning. Will begin FF Rebirth as soon as it arrives.
@LowDefAl Thought so, nice one buddy 👍
My pro is already ordered via PS direct, but Im buying one for a mate. Amazon havent had them all day - I got another one from Argos instead.
My wife is making noises that our second ps5 will need upgrading too, so this could get expensive!
@LowDefAl It comes with a horizontal stand, which is perfectly adequate. Ive always used my ps5s horozontaly so its perfect..
@AgentGuapo Not if the framerate is capped, which is pretty common. In fact, if the game couldn't reach 60fps on a regular PS5, it's very likely it would be capped to 30. And unlike buying a GPU, it won't make the games look better without a patch. It just seems like such a limited boost. Some games will look a bit better, or will run at 60 while also being a slightly higher res. But most things won't benefit without a patch. And it's over a third of a price of an amazing PC that would have all games looking and running way better than in a Pro, all with free online and cheaper games. And a far larger selection of games.
I want to be tempted and excited by the Pro but I just can't.

@Major_Player
You have finally done it. All these people saying this for a month, over and over again, on every post about the PS5 Pro, on every comment section across the internet has failed to convince me of PlayStation's folly. Thank YOU for finally saying what needed to be said, again, ad nauseem, forever and ever AMEN.
@Titntin
You going spending mad over at yours.
Ordered mine from PS Direct as well.
Have to have the best performance 🤣
@OldGamer999 Exactly mate. I buy just about every bit of gaming tech and always have. Not gonna skip the latest..
I was a dev 25 years ago when me and the misses got married, and she had been coming round my flat on game nights for years before that. She always knew a significant portion of our income was destined to be spent on gaming tech... 🤣
Only the digital not the pro
@Titntin
Did you ever have a Neo Geo?
The money I spent on that things games 🤣
Guess more expense next year for Switch 2 as well.
I looked at them, just out of curiosity more than anything. Yep, it was still in stock (maybe still is?). For a split second I thought, “I could…” but luckily common sense prevailed, and I was back to “No, I just can’t justify that £825 price tag”.
Ah, I finally pulled the trigger. Amazon 5% back definitely made it easier... 39 bucks towards the near 80 just in tax ........
@OldGamer999 Yeah I had a Neo Geo, cost me a fortune!
@Titntin
I remember many trips into London to get certain games in stock, exchanging games to keep costs etc 🤣
I worked for IBM at the time, my patch was wc1 covent garden.
In the covered market there, a friend Ash ran a specialist import buisnes for Japanese games and had a stall there. We got the neo geo carts within a week of them being released in Japan. I remember when the machine was released, staring at Magician Lord and Nam 75 when they arrived, I had to have one!
New consoles still excite me, even if its just a small tech uplift. Better is better.
I pre ordered the controller off the officially website but I want the portal as well but I guess it's not going to be available again. Shame really offering it in another color would probably get more people to buy it. No need for the console tho without a disc drive it's not worth it to me, I just got the grey plates, painted them, and added a retro sticker.
Depending on your tier on ShopTo you can get the PS5Pro for £685.85.
Ordered the Pro from Currys and will trade my slim or sell privately already have the discdrive ready. Snagged the Anniversary Slim before hand at Argos this morning incase, got time to cancel if I change my mind. I want the charging cable and box more than anything else from the Anniversary Slim.
@Titntin they have been on Amazon all day unless you mean out of stock, they are showing as in stock as I type this message.
I said no, but here I am biting the bait. Just pre-ordered on smyth. 803 euro with damn delivery. Only doing it because I already know who will get my ps5.
Lmao not for long
Plenty of PROs here (Denmark), bit no anniversary edition..
Really wish they would stop putting the 30th pro in these pictures. All anyone wants and it hurts the soul.
Buying this would be a nightmare for me. Keep it in the box and let its value go up in time? Or pull it out the box and start playing games on Pro settings knowing the value has gone down?
Nah, I don’t need that kind of headache
@JohntheRaptor just wondering if those same people will have the same reaction seeing the PS6 the same price come 2028~
@hoffa007 @hoffa007 Thanks for your information, but I beg to differ. I checked regularly from 7am till 10.30 am and they had no listing at all. This was also confirmed on ' the daily express PS5 pro stock checker' which confirmed sales were available on very, game and argos but had not gone live on amazon. Its why I bought on Argos.
Even after I made the purchase I checked Amazon in the afternoon and they stll did not have a product listing for it.
I checked this morning after reading your message here, and they are indeed now listed and available. But they were not available all day yesterday at all and that is and has been confirmed.
Last time I looked yesterday was late afternoon. Maybe they went live shortly after and thats when you looked? Either way, you wont find anyone who bought one at Amazon yesterday morning as it wasnt there.
For those that managed to snag any 30th Anniversary items in the past few weeks, what are your intentions? Keep it boxed up or crack open??
Managed to just preorder a 30th Anniversary DualSense on Best Buy in Canada.
Yea I see what you did there,
@Titntin
As you know I have preordered a PS5 Pro but now having second thoughts. So I’m reaching out to your knowledge.
Ok my set up Sony X95L 65” TV. Good 4K sitting distance from the TV. game mode and VRR on and best settings adjusted accordingly.
Playing final fantasy VII remake the game that DF have done a lot of PS5 Pro analysis on.
I play the game in 60fps performance mode, resolution I think is about 1080p at 60fps.
I thought hang on the 30fps mode runs at a 4K resolution most of the time but dynamic, but according to DF 4K most of the time.
So I started getting close to objects standing still zoom in close to get a say a plant or box or character big on the screen.
I kept switch from performance 1080p to quality 4K. I am baffled apart from a tiny bit of sharper image there is next to no differences and I really tried hard.
So if the PS5 Pro is going to run the game using PSSR to 4K and I can’t hardly tell any difference between the 1080p and 4K on the PS5 what is the PS5 Pro giving me.
Is it my tv, I know Sony TV upscaling and motion is the best in the business, is that making the 1080p better than it should be as it is also a Sony TV with a Sony PS5.
Or am I missing a trick?
@Titntin
Sorry it is final fantasy VII REBIRTH that I’m doing this testing on.
Either I’m going blind or all this is a load of old Mumbo Jumbo. I have now also tried on a Samsung S90C 65”. The same results.
Hardly any difference between 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps in terms of standing still looking closely at objects apart from a very slight sharpness uptick.
I can’t even see the smudged image that DF get and I have tried to replicate this with the field and yellow flowers example they did.
Maybe it’s the TVs I use top end of the respective makes. I mean even when you watch a 1080p film on them, there is hardly any difference between that and a 4K movie using physical discs.
These new TVs do have amazing upscales in them and they both advertise that as special feature and a selling point and reviews do praise both the TVs upscaling abilities.
Just a think a top TV doing the job of upscaling amazingly.
Any comments welcome please 😊
@OldGamer999 Its 7.32am, and Im about to go on an extended drive, wont be back till early afternoon, but I'll come back to you when Im home!
@Titntin
Have a great and safe journey 😊
@OldGamer999 Hi mate, Im back again...
For info I have last years top mini led sony tv, 65x95L. £3k last year, £1550 this year. Always buy last years model. I also have a LG C1 oled at the back of the room, for the second ps5 and the PC.
Its true that with a higher end tv, especially the higher end Sony ones, the 4k upscaling from 1080p is excellent. The AI upscaling in the pro will still do a better job, but its diminishing returns, you are not going to see night and day differences, but it will be a bit better.
But thats not the main reason to own a pro imo. Its to be able to achieve better quality output for sure (especially if you have a cheap 4k telly), but its more about offering the quality option at 60 hz or 120 hz if the game can manage it. Faster frame rates, and hence response times, are the game changer for me.
I played most of FF7 in the performance mode myself, but because of my tvs good upscaling I could cope with the output, whilst others could barely look at the blurriness that can come with that mode. I will appreciate the sharper res for sure, but its not going to be night and day for me.
A lot of these old games getting a quick pro patch will not show all the benefits of the pro hardware, they will simply patch in a few quick wins which need minimal recompiling and work. However games which are just starting to get to their optimisation stage and in alpha, will benefit more, as the 'pro settings' are likely to be far better tuned. If you've ever gamed on PC, its like being able to turn a few options on to ultimate or high settings from the medium setting, so you may get a better shadowing solution, lods changing further away from the camera, better volumetric lighting etc. We may also see more games having some ray traced functions, shadows, reflections, AO etc depending on the devs priorities.
Although its not a huge uplift the extra headroom may help with engines that are a bit cpu constrained too, either allowing for smoother frame rates or maybe an extra effect or two, depending on how the programer wishes to use the extra 10% or so thats available.
How much are you going to notice? Thats a really different answer for all of us. For some, they simply wont notice, or if they do, they wont care. For an old dev like me, I'll notice everything, as long as I put my glasses on! If I only get to play one or two titles @60hz where I'd otherwise have been stuck with 30hz it will be worth every penny of the upgrade, but again, thats gonna be different for everyone.
For a stunning looking game, nothing will ever beat a beatifully crafted and considered aesthetic, a skillfully executed direction and pure artistic talent.
But if you want and crave to experience it at its best, then you'll always take the very best hardware you can afford.
Nothing says you have to pre order? If you have doubts, just wait till its been out a few months and see if you can get some hands on with it, see if it works for you.
@Titntin
Thank you for your great explanation and summary.
Yes I got my x95l 65 for £1400 at Costco with five years warranty a good few months ago, so got a good deal there. It’s one hell of a TV upscaling and especially that Sony motion.
I will keep my preorder and buy the PS5 Pro because like you said it will probably upscale a little better and it’s the other plus things as well.
I’m expecting not much at this stage but better next year and going forward when a game being developed can take more of an advantage, maybe Ghost of T 2 probably.
Also I really can’t game at 30fps it seems so smeary when panning around compared to 60fps even at a lower resolution the panning is so much clearer.
Actually playing dead space remake at the moment and even that in performance 60fps mode is dam smooth and the TV upscales it really nicely.
We are definitely entering more than ever the point of diminishing returns.
@Major_Player u know that statement doesn't make sense. 🙄 ps5 pro is a massive upgrade and obviously games have been ps5 pro enhanced. Don't listen to the haters * pc gamers who know nothing just jealous *
@OldGamer999
I gonna get technical again 🤣
The PS5 Pro going on DF etc has equivalent of a 4080 graphics card.
I think that means more tflops And stuff etc.
The focus so far has been on upscaling and PSSR
but if the PS5 Pro is more powerful with this graphics card. Instead of say a game on the PS5 at 60fps being native 1440p can’t we just have it at 1800p on the pro no upscaling etc.
Why do we need to take the 1440p on PS5 and upscale to native 4K, surely this extra PS5 Pro power can just make the game 1800p native.
Why is everything using the PS5 Pro as just an upscaling device.
Surely it’s best to use the power to get the base resolution as high as possible first.
I mean the PS5 runs HFW burning shores at 1800p checkerboard scaled to 4K at 60fps and that game has some serious graphics and stuff going on.
Sorry so many questions.

@OldGamer999 The problem is you still thinking that internal native rendering resolution is the best metric. Things are moving on and in many cases an upscaled 1440 image for example will offer superior image quality than a native 4k render. Its been this way with quality dlss renders for a while in the pc space.
The whole point of the ai upscaling chip is to produce a picture as good as, or better than a native 4k render whikst leaving resource free to do other stuff you would not otherwise have managed to achieve. The new Dragon Age for instance will have a pro mode which has ray traced ambient occulsion, and is likely to have better lod pop in etc.
The ai upscaler, which is doing this job in dedicated hardware, should enable top notch 4k output at more performant refresh rates whikst leaving compute resource available for use elsewhere, whatever the engine programmer decides to use it on, could be flashy graphics effect, could be better route finding etc
etc. There is unlikely to be situation where switching off the upscaling hardware would priduce better output than with it on, and that chip is dedicated so its of no use elsewhere.
Just my thoughts, im not working with it first hand, but I hope they are of some value to you..
@Titntin
I sort of get it now thank you.
I know I’m sort of living in last generation
When the Xbox one x just beefed most games to 4k native say like far cry 4.
I guess it’s all these over things like ray tracing, extra LOD etc taking all the consoles power away resulting having to use a lower resolution especially at 60fps.
So to give the power back to the console they use upscaling like DLSS FSR and now PSSR.
I really do think though with better optimised games it would resolve some issues on current consoles.
I also really think this is not a big deal and clever as Sony are they jumping on this creating their own upscaling tech and pushing in a Pro console, don’t get me wrong smart PR as always with Sony.
I also think we should just have 60fps only and no 30fps at all. Keep it simple.
What fps options are offered are down to the dev, not Sony.
We all have our own opinion, so I cant tell you your opinion is wrong. But the development of ai image reconstruction is one of the most significant developments Ive seen in games rendering space since gpu's became a seperate entity in my opinion. Its a huge deal, its been changing pc game space for years, it will allow for more performance on our PS5s and will enure the switch 2 has great looking output despite having the restrictions of portable power requirements. I cant think of another single development that has more significance in recent time.
Suggesting its some kind of marketing gimmick shows you dont understand how game engines work and why its a big deal. Thats OK, its techy.
