Rebellion is giving PS5, PS4 users something to look forward to after they've cleared their 2024 backlog as it's revealed Sniper Elite: Resistance will release for both Sony systems on 30th January 2025. A new trailer accompanies the news, which you can catch above, and pre-orders are available now.
The new standalone stealth game sees Harry Hawker put in the lead role for the first time as he "discovers an insidious new Wunderwaffe — something so powerful, it guarantees the Nazis would win the war". The narrative is set during the events of Sniper Elite 5 and takes place far behind enemy lines in France.
Each mission will be structured similarly to its predecessor, with a large open map to explore and various objectives to complete, but one new feature found in Resistance is Propaganda Missions. You'll need to find a propaganda poster in each level, which unlocks a separate Progadana Missions where you play as a resistance fighter. All this can be played alone or in co-op, and the series' trademark x-ray kill cam also returns.
Rebellion has today also detailed a season pass for Sniper Elite: Resistance, which will be bundled in with the Deluxe Edition. It'll grant you access to three extra missions, weapon packs, and gun skins in three drops after launch. Given Rebellion's strong post-launch support for Sniper Elite 5 — which saw the developer create a second season pass — there's a possibility the studio has even more planned.
In our Sniper Elite 5 PS5 review, we awarded an 8/10 rating and concluded: "Sniper Elite 5 knows exactly who it’s aimed at, and Rebellion is on target as always. The developer’s dense French sandboxes are hugely replayable, and look fantastic to boot." The game is currently available on PS Plus Extra.
