Principal photography has concluded on the Until Dawn movie, a couple of months after it got underway. Sony announced that filming had started on the adaptation on 6th August, and now it has concluded on 4th October. The flick will enter post-production next.
Lights Out director David F. Sandberg has led this project, with a script penned by Annabelle’s Gary Dauberman. While the film will feature an entirely new cast, Swedish thespian Peter Stormare will reprise his role from the games as Dr. Hill.
“Capturing the essence of the game but with new characters, [the movie] serves as a great stand-alone introduction to the world for the newcomer as well as offers something new that the fans of the game will enjoy,” Sandberg told The Hollywood Reporter earlier in the year.
Hair stylist Barbara Domok posted photos from the film’s wrap party on her Instagram:

The cast will span an up-and-coming roster of young actors, including Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, Ella Rubin, Odessa A’zion, and Ji-young Yoo. There’s no actual release date for the movie yet, but we wouldn’t expect it to reach theatres until this time next year.
The timing of the filming’s conclusion is perfect, however, as Ballistic Moon’s remake of Until Dawn launched late last week. You can read our Until Dawn PS5 review through the link.

Curious to see if they wait until next Halloween to release it or sooner.
Another thing they have in common is they both feel a tad unnecessary.
Not to be that guy, but I will be that guy and point out it should be spelled Principal Photography 🙈
The game itself is literally an interactive movie why make a film out of it 😅
Ahhh sh**, here we go again.
@DrClayman Haha, thanks! My bad!
The game is re-creating the most generic horror movie cliche on purpose. Making an actual movie out of this is so weird. We have that movie already 100+ times.
A movie about a certain Native American monster, yes this has been done a thousand times before. Unsure on how it will pan out, what with besides poor Hannah, every other character is unredeemable. Good luck, hope it does better than The Deep End.
@yazzika I didn't know there's 100+ horror movies that has a twist from a psycopath killer to wendigo.
They should release several different film versions with different characters surviving in different cuts and theaters get assigned a random version.
As others have pointed out, the novelty of this was playing through a bad, tropey horror movie plot via an interactive medium. Turning it into a movie removes its one redeeming property.
@GreatAuk Ohhh, kind of like the Clue movie and its different endings depending on which cut of the film you saw. That's a cute idea.
@Michael2008ish The trope is clearly intentional and i personally quite enjoyed it just like i enjoyed all the trope in horror movies. But at least the twist from psychopathic killer to wendigo is interesting which i never see in horror movies.
@PuppetMaster I love Until Dawn and am excited for the upcoming film personally. To each their own, but I'm a massive horror fan and quite enjoy these interactive games with my daughter
@Ralizah Yeah, it's like that Sims movie. You take away the fact it's a game and it's just a drama with generic people. With Until Dawn, you have a generic horror movie that doesn't stand out. By contrast, while a Zelda movie would be fairly standard fantasy, it has incredibly iconic characters, locations and scenarios. It survives the transition from game to film.
