Play Has No Limits

Just yesterday, we brought you word of Sony's jazzy new PS5 ad, reminding us that Play Has No Limits. Apparently, we weren't operating on a high enough level to catch Sony clearly telegraphing a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play for 3rd December 2024, which is what some conspiratorial fans now believe.

In a blink-and-you-'ll-miss-it frame, at the top of a flight arrival screen, a date can be made out: 03 12 2024. This was clearly not put there by accident, and we must admit to feeling a little tingle of excitement as that date, a Tuesday, marks PlayStation's 30th Anniversary. On ResetEra, hopeful fans point out that for PlayStation's 25th anniversary, a PlayStation Showcase was held on 3rd December, with the legendary Ken Kutaragi delivering a pre-recorded speech to mark the occasion.

Now, we want to believe. But insider Jeff Grub, who we trust more than any portent or prophecy, weighed in, telling us not to get our hopes up in regards to a December event. If you didn't know, Grubb is regarded as a Tier 2 - Reliable Source over on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, which is kind of a big deal (in some circles).

Do you think a PlayStation Showcase will be held on 3rd December, as foretold in yesterday's Play Has No Limits ad? Can you believe it's been nearly 30 years since PlayStation launched? Crumble into dust in the comments section below.
