Despite Nintendo Litigation, Palworld Gets Its Biggest Ever Update on PS5 1

Palworld is embroiled in a fierce legal battle with Nintendo, and if the Japanese console maker gets its way, the survival game will be removed from sale.

That’s not stopping developer Pocketpair from soldiering on, though, as it’s announced the biggest update yet for the open world monster taming title – and it’s due out in December. We’re still awaiting word of an official release date.

The free update will add an entire new island to the release, which is said to be the “largest and harshest” in series history.

“The island is about six times the size of Sakurajima, which was added in the last major update,” the press release reveals. “Powerful tower bosses and many vicious new species of Pals lurk here.”

More information is expected to be announced in the days leading up to launch, but in the meantime, it’s worth noting that the title is on sale on the PS Store.

Elsewhere, a collaboration with Terraria has been announced for 2025, so it’s clear Pocketpair doesn’t expect Nintendo to stop its party any time soon.

It was revealed earlier in the year that the Mario maker, alongside the Pokémon Company, was seeking an injunction to stop sales of Palworld due to alleged patent infringements. Sony, meanwhile, has established a new company in collaboration with Pocketpair to help further monetise the franchise with spin-off merchandise, mangas, and more.
