Shift Up’s post-release support for Stellar Blade has been so strong many wondered whether the game’s forthcoming NieR Automata add-on would be free. It’s since confirmed on social media that this is a paid add-on, although it hasn’t confirmed how much it’ll cost just yet.
Due out on 20th November, the Yoko Taro crossover content will add Emil as a new merchant, who will flog you 11 new outfits and accessories inspired by the legendary PS4 RPG. These include looks based on 2B and A2.
To further clarify, only the NieR Automata content will be paid; the other updates due out on the same day – including Photo Mode and four other costumes – will be free for everyone who owns the game. So even if you don’t plan to purchase the DLC, there’s something to look forward to.
It would have been cool if developer Shift Up had been able to add a couple of new levels and enemies to the title to really make this crossover pop, but we’re looking forward to kitting out Eve – who’s got a new body double, by the way – with some fresh looks all the same.

Sorry to be an annoying downer but........Is anyone else absolutely sick and tired of 2B at this point? Like she's been shoehorned into bloody everything this past borderline decade and here now she's even in a crappy bootleg of the game she's from I'm just tired of seeing her. And Eve too she's one of the worst and dullest characters in any game I've ever played this game has nothing to offer besides coomer bait make no mistake I'm not anti cheesecake but a game needs more than that
That's fine, take all my money Shift Up. Literally cannot wait for this.
Yeah guessed it wouldn't be, hopefully it isn't too expensive.
Anyone know if it's more than just costumes? Is there missions?
@Keyblade-Dan I liked Stellar blade and finished it. Eve wasn't an exciting character but she wasn't that bad.
For the amount of content Shift up have given us for free, I am more than happy to pay for the Nier DLC, I'm guessing £8-£10
@Keyblade-Dan A little bit, yes, but 2B is an undeniably good character design.
I agree they've maybe watered down the character a little bit by shoving her into everything, but it's not like they're ever going to actually make a sequel lol.
@Keyblade-Dan That’s a lot of words for “I don’t understand why people like a thing I don’t like.”
Welp I guess I should've expected that, I think that's what they said before launch that some cross over stuff could be paid dlc? But still I was hoping it would be free considering they're just outfits. So there goes my plans to replay with the nier update as soon as it launched. I'll probably buy it later on down the line and hopefully it'll be on a sale too by then
Finished the game a week ago. It was fun enough. Saw plenty of side boob already. Yawn. Sold it to GameStop for credit to put toward a Pro. No interest in playing further dress up.
I have to try the demo for this and see if it’s for me, my view of the game itself has been warped by all the twitter pervs online but that’s not fair to the devs so I’ll definitely give it a go as it looks similar to Nier Automata which I love, also fitting timing now the 2B dlc is out!
As expected, Square probably wouldn't have agreed to the collab otherwise.
I am more than happy to pay for this.
At least 2B looks great in this game unlike what Ubisoft did to her in R6 where she looks like a man cosplaying as her and iirc it's 5 bucks 🤦♂️

@DonJorginho
And the Pro version looks much better and runs at around 80fps. I took a look at it a couple of days ago - I had to manually select the new mode though.
Disappointed that the DLC is cosmetic only. Some fresh gameplay would have been good. A couple of side chapters or something but i will pay for it. This dev deserves my money for delivering me my GOTY and enough free content since its release
@DonJorginho you should do mate. Despite the fan service and kinda watery story its a bloody good game and bug free to boot. The combat is really fun and snappy imo and the bosses are really cool too. Defenately worth a peak, even if it turns out not to be for you.
at some point I have to buy that game too. played the demo and this one song doesn‘t get out of my head anymore, I hear it every time.
@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah the combat seems really good and the music I’ve heard? bloody phenomenal, I’ll try the demo later tonight and then I guess we’ll see whether the backlog gets any larger 🤣
@Kidfunkadelic83 They are working on an expansion already! personally I would rather them work on Stellar Blade 2 now, but with the PC port coming it makes sense.
I wouldn't say "Dressing" is the right word.
@DonJorginho I played the demo when it was realised. The game wasn't on .y radar at all. After the demo I asked my wife to get me it for my birthday (the week after the full game released.
It was my game of the year until astro bot came out
@Keyblade-Dan Nope and I think Eve is fine but her and the other characters definitely need more development in the story.
Im fine with it, they gave us plenty of free content and the game itself is fun
Unless it's outrageously overpriced I'll pick up the costumes. And even if they are overpriced I won't be mad. Plenty of awesome costumes to use it if the box in the game already.
I have no issues with this at all, I'm looking for an excuse to give shift up my money anyways.
PC master race won’t care about paid skins , because being naked is free
@Cerny The soundtrack is incredible!
@Icey664 If you want to give them money, boy do they have a game for you!!! Haha!
Pay up gooners
I hope there's new mission and new enemy for nier automata dlc in stellar blade, it's nice there's A2 and emil too beside 2B. I'm okay with paid dlc as long as it's not expensive.
@Keyblade-Dan Nope, what I'm absolutely sick is western developers character design, just look at stellar blade 2B vs ubisoft 2B.
@Gunnerzaurus I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with being critical. People are free to love something, as are people free to hate them just the same. The issue comes when one tries to impose upon the opinions of others — this is different from just expressing them, it's rather the active attempt to reduce differing thoughts. And I still wouldn't say that's inherently bad; some opinions should be challenged. But that's definitely where one starts getting into problematic territory.
Was KB-Dan being problematic? He prefaced his criticisms by apologizing for their negativity and didn't attack those who like the game. So I wouldn't say it was problematic. You could argue he expressed his opinion as objective truth, but his comments apologetic nature and call for thoughts I think combat that assumption.
People should be allowed to like what they like in peace, but that doesn't give them the right to extinguish those that challenge their beliefs. More to that point, if reading negativity about something you think positively about disturbs you, that's really on you above anyone else. Positive opinions are comforting, but all opinions are valid.
I'm not surprised the NieR DLC will have a price tag seeing how Yoko Taro is "a slave to capitalism." His own words. Oh, and I'll buy it!!!
I figured it wouldn’t be free, but I’m fine with that. Looking forward to this. And I haven’t really paid much attention to what Ubisoft has been doing, but is their version of 2B that bad?
@Gunnerzaurus I don't think people ought to enjoy or be positive about things they either don't care about or don't like outright. The thing you nailed on the head is that OP has already come to a conclusion that the things he doesn't like are objectively bad, and he's clearly not willing to hear out an alternative perspective, that's why he answered his own question in his comment.
I'd say attack bad criticisms rather than saying don't ever make criticisms.
@wiiware Another outage that confounds me. It's a 2B costume for R6:S OC Lana. So the proportions follow Lana's, who was designed to look like a rugged, military operative. You can question if that character — and indeed, that game — really worked for a 2B collab, but Ubisoft didn't "de-sex" 2B. They put her outfit on a deliberately less feminine character.
It's like being upset at the Sonic Lost World Zelda collab because they made Link a blue hedgehog.
@PorkChopExpress It plays like a ***** version of Sekiro, you're not missing anything.
Take my money
I’ll gladly support the game! They have been very generous
@Keyblade-Dan Are you okay dude that's one hell of a rant. How you feel about those games is how I feel about Alloy and Horizon but I wouldn't just declare the games garbage because I personally don't like them, they just aren't for you.
" 2B or not 2B" that is the question for your wallet.
I mean...they already confirmed a long time ago that these kinds of collabs would be paid so I don't really get why it needs to be reported on, again. 🤷♂️
Meh, I am still 100%… SOLD!
@Gunnerzaurus He called the game coomer bait. That's not really the same thing as calling all its fans coomers. It's more of an attack on the game than its fans.
I can say Lost has nothing to offer besides romance plots. While I might be implying all its fans are onto romance, I'm not really asserting such.
Regardless, at most, I think you could argue that's a poorly worded description of the game. I think it's hard to discern any active spite towards the fanbase from his comment.
I'll gladly pay for it, the same way I paid afterwards for the deluxe edición bonuses, I like to support games when they deserve it.
I wish things like this were available sooner (if not at launch), for a single player game to get outfit DLC 7 months after release seems a bit pointless, most of the players have already completed the game and won't play it again just for an outfit or two.
Thought it was going to be free. I'm not paying for cosmetics in anything other than fighting games, and even then I'm very selective about it. Maybe if there was some story DLC included with this I'd part with the cash but that isn't the case.
Maybe they made the costume DLC paid b/c they thought Keighly would add it into the "GAME of the Year" category that way since apparently DLC now counts as a "game". 😝
@get2sammyb haha, trust me I already have 🤣 although I do prefer playing on console at the end of the day!
@PorkChopExpress There is the demo before you buy it, it gives you plenty on what to expect from the combat.
I was expecting a 9S outfit to bring a little bit of diversity in this game.
I kinda expected it to be free since they said this was a thank you to all the players.
@DonJorginho I suck at these types of games. I'm resisting the urge to lower the difficulty. Having a blast getting my ass handed to me.
@RoomWithaMoose I just don't care, one company put the works to scan another model for 2B, the other company just lazily put 2B clothes on their characters, and why license 2B character when you just put it on a clearly type 2 or type b character lol.
And in the end though, what will sell more and what will the gamers like, 2B shift up or 2B ubislop? I'm sure you'll know the answer.
One company will get the money from the dlc, the other one will get mocked in youtube and twitter, spiralling their own company reputation.
Was not really a question for me. It's a licensed DLC after all.
@RoomWithaMoose man I am happy I have no idea what that word means. I'll just stay over here
@wiiware It's weird to say you don't care when you brought it up. Costume collabs aren't really weird, nor would I say they're objectively worse than cameos. It's like, this isn't functionally different from Sackboy's 2B costume — and I somehow doubt anyone would complain about that. Ubisoft couldn't even really just put 2B into Siege, as her proportions would actually make an unbalanced hitbox — probably a reason Lana was so broad to begin with.
But it we don't care about logical reasons for this outcome or the established precedent, I guess we can be angry at manly 2B. Like I said, I think it's fair to question why Siege even has a 2B collab in the first place. And, like you said, this'll certainly make more money than that.
But also, at the same time, if you don't care then just don't care. Who cares which one makes more money? Who cares if 2B manly? I remember seeing YouTube videos about this and gave it absolutely zero thought until people in this thread kept bringing it up. I don't care about Siege having a 2B costume, and neither should you, or anybody that doesn't actively want that costume
@LikelySatan (I also have no idea what that word means...)
@RoomWithaMoose feels good, right?
@Oram77 i didnt know that buddy thanks. Yeah im with you. Id rather a SB2 than any kind of side story for the 1st game. @DonJorginho the demo was good. It gives you an idea of what the main game has to offer and how the combat works. Hope you enjoy it.
I’m more than happy to support shift up by paying for dlc, my only concern is how it’s unlocked in the game.
Sadly my new play through on the pro has resulted in a game breaking bug where missions aren’t unlocking so that’s put me off tbh.
Its sad that no new content will be released with it, i don't mind paying for it as i love Nier. But i just recently platined Stellar Blade and don't see myself returning to it to just look at my character. (maybe men see it diffrent )
So rather buy it oneday in sale when ever i feel like replaying~
Just sad :/ just one more Level/secret/area/quest would have motivated me...
I would take this over Ubisoft’s design of 2b any day
@LikelySatan Hell yeah, brother.
@breakneck don't u come for Charley lmao
@KillerBoy a design that was made for a specific character in rainbow six that is nothing like nier lmao
@PorkChopExpress Lol, fair enough! I made the comparison due to the melee combat, and the focus on parrying. Neither are nearly as refined as Sekiro. It also has rather dull level design, and Eve is an awful character.
To its credit, Stellar Blade did launch with pretty much locked 60FPS performance and little in terms of bugs, and the soundtrack is fantastic too.
But yeah, if this game has gruff fella Adam instead of Eve there's not a chance it would have gained the traction it did 😆
Are we ever going to get another Nier game?! Or us 2B doomed to sell her ass in guest appearances for the rest of her days, like Shovel Knight?
I'm fine with that. 2 more days to go, just release already.
@PuppetMaster Ubisoft makes every current protagonist look like a man. Just look what they did to Star Wars Outlaws.
@Keyblade-Dan Gotta love it when people say "I'm sorry.... BUT" or "I hate to be that guy...BUT" and then continuing on anyway. lol
@RoomWithaMoose It's kind of hard not to care if every western designed characters in games are like this, up to the point I know in a couple of second of games trailer whether the game designed in western or other place. Oh well, I hope this insane type a / type b characters design will soon disappear.

@wiiware Like what? Like a believably rugged military operative?
Diablo IV has sexy demon ladies in it. Overwatch 2's latest has a Barbie doll figure and tights. Outlaw's protag — whatever her name is — might have a strong jawline, but is otherwise fairly feminine. So is Shadows' non-controversial co-protag. The Lost Crown had a very feminine warrior wearing some fantasy-ass revealing armor. Hades 2 has plenty of sex appeal. Harley's ass might've not been as shiney, but she's still looking attractive in Suicide Squad (soccer mom Miss Freeze doesn't invalidate that). Senua still has a feminine figure. Silent Hill 2's Maria is still sexy (while less revealing, I would say her new outfit is actually sexier, because it isn't based on the horrible fashion trends of the 2000s). Splintered Fate's got a very attractive April. A certain type of person just got excited about Multiversus' Raven reveal.
Like... Are you sure you're not just making this whole thing up? I get it, Western designs are less likely to focus in on sex appeal. And Eastern designs go much farther and harder with sex appeal. But the West can still do sexy. And not every Eastern character is Eve (Dragons Dogma 2, for instance).
So unless you're advocating for 100% of female characters to be extremely sexy, I don't see the problem.
I'm all for giving ShiftUp money, but if it's just for outfits they can whistle, they've done a bang up job so far and I will happily pay out for anything that expands gameplay, but I really don't care to play dress up.
Remember, one of them said he'd do everything for money? of course we have to paid for this DLC... hey im not that complaining. I'll paid it. as long as the reasonable price
@Keyblade-Dan haha true its always 2B 2B 2B and some end up forgetting A2 ----even the figurines there's way too many 2B figs and less on A2 and she has an @$$ too lmao ... even that FLARE Kaine scale figure was forgotten about...
@Keyblade-Dan
If eve looked like a shoebox instead of a woman and the game played the same, I'd still buy and play it because the game is actually good.
Though also you can shove your puritanical whinging.
@RoomWithaMoose Why the heck some company license 2B for a man-like rugged military operative, who's enjoying this, this isn't a sane company will do to get money from its customer. This is a waste of everyone time, both the devs and it customer.
Oh well, at least we can agree to disagree.
@wiiware "You can question if that character — and indeed, that game — really worked for a 2B collab"
Actually, if we're just scrutinizing the collab itself without getting into generalized 'women in gaming' or 'woke Ubisoft' territory, we can totally just agree. I mean, I still don't really care either way, but 2B wouldn't have been my first choice for a Siege costume. And I think that's an entirely fair critique to make.
DLC available now. 10$ ish pricetag.
@SirSephy Its around 10$.
@BIG3 in the UK, it is £7.99. of course $10 is 8 pounds.
