The Horizon franchise has had a very busy year in 2024, with the arrival of Forbidden West on PC in March, Zero Dawn Remastered in October, and LEGO Horizon Adventures having just launched today, 14th November. This momentum looks set to continue into 2025, if a recent job listing is to be believed.
On Guerrilla Games' website, a new job opportunity has appeared, spotted by JorRaptor on X. The role is for a "Release QA Intern", in which the successful applicant will gain "theoretical knowledge and practical experience to ensure the game is prepared for launch". Furthermore, the internship is set to take place "during the first half of 2025".
Putting these together, it appears as though Guerrilla will be making preparations early next year for the launch of its next Horizon game.
Exactly what that game will be isn't 100 per cent known. However, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported earlier this year that the Dutch developer's next project is its Horizon online multiplayer title, rather than Horizon 3. It seems this internship role may be referring to the online game, then.
As for when in 2025 the next Horizon game will arrive, it'll presumably be after the intern job is complete, so we could be looking at the back half of next year. If it is indeed the online game, it might launch fully at that time or, possibly, in an early access state. We'll have to wait and see.

Who cares about an Horizon mp game really ? Sony keeps throwing online stuff at the wall until something finally sticks.
They are milking horizon games like elsie the š cow.is guerilla games all they gonna do is horizon gamesš¤.sony should give us a infamous collection.resistance collection.sly cooper remastered collection etc.or even a killzone remastered.back in ps3 days you have games come in every year or 2.now its almost a full console.naughty dog havent made a new ps5 games yet.word up son
If thatās true, hope they actually announce the game soon then! With the way 2025 looks right now, it honestly feels like the industry has no certainty if anything is releasing since no one wants to put a release date on anything anymore.
Horizon Forbidden West Remastered. It WAS technically a PS4 game after all. Didn't stop them patching Last of Us Part 2 to have enhanced PS5 features and then remastering it anyway.
Dear god why is this actually in the realm of possibilities.
Rolling the dice again Sony on a live service game in an over saturated market? As big a fan of Horizon as I am absolutely NO interest with this.
This could be could, look forward to hearing more about it! Game Awards reveal maybe?
In my opinion, I don't think it needs to be done.
Hermen is really pushing hard with this stuff. Aloy-as-a-Service must be his wet dream.
If they do an online game that's anything like Monster Hunter I'd be pretty hyped. Been itching for that since my first few hours with Zero Dawn.
New Ghost anf Horizon games next year would be great, 2025 is looking good on paper.
I still need to play Forbidden West, so no need for anything new yet
This is a problem for me. I love the horizon franchise with a passion but equally I hate online games with an even bigger passion. I understand people love multilayer but let's keep it to ganes like call of duty, fortnite and destiny.
Stop taking games like horizon and making an online only version.
What they could do is release horizon 3 with the proper single player component but add a multilayer element giving people the choice without alienating the fan base. Like they did with uncharted and the last of us.
Will I get horizon next year if its online only? I really don't know. If it continues the story of the previous game, I may not have a choice as I love the story. I suppose we will have to see what happens
@DuncanMcleod Yeah so about Helldivers 2...
I think it's been in development since 2017/8, so it should be ready to launch.
@LowDefAl that's a separate project.
I don't know if I'd call 2 main games, 1 remaster, 1 Lego version and 1 online version 'milking' the franchise if this has all taken place over 9 years.
How many CoDs do we get in that time? Fifa? 2K games? Assassin's Creed? Come on
IF they can nail a Monster Hunter like feel but giant robot creatures I'll be more than happy to jump in.
I do wonder when we'll see it properly revealed though? Maybe the Game Awards with them being in a month?
It'll be interesting to see what art style they go with cos I can't see it having the same fidelity as the main games for online, just can't see it been doable.
I was excited for a moment having read the title, but then I remembered that Guerrilla is making an online Horizon game and most of that interest vanished as soon as it arrived.
I'm personally interested to see what Guerilla can do if they make a co-op Horizon. Maybe they gonna show this game at December SoP or Showcase...
I'd have to see what is first. I'm not interested in a Monster Hunter-like Horizon. I'm honestly not really sure what I'd want from an online Horizon game. I'll be there for the proper Horizon 3 though.
Guerrilla has become such an uninteresting developer...
@Atreus97 Agreed. Unfortunately you can't use logic with some commenters in here, especially if they already locked their hate / dislike for some games or franchise.
I'm a massive fan of Zero Dawn and Forbidden West, but have zero interest in online multiplayer. Sounds like they are singing to their bank accounts and not their fans on this one.
Oh god no! Thatās the end of single player horizon I guess.
@Kenobi42 but other then rumors being thrown around no one has actually seen what its going to be. how would you even know the last part of your statement if you haven't seen it?
I really hope for the developers it works out because there is so much cancelling and firing going on. Personally, I'm not sold on it but hope it works out.
I'd actually be interested in a Monster Hunter style Horizon game. That works perfectly with this series.
If they launch it in the summer or later in the year(Give it space away from Monster Hunter) Sony could have a hit on their hands. I don't think Sony will miss up one of their tentpole series so they are probably keeping close eyes on how the Multi-player game is being developed.
I am excited for Horizon 3 and can wait for it. I do hope we get chances to play as other people in it for short bits maybe. Seyka, Varl, Erend, Talanah with unique movesets/weapons would be cool, unless their in the Multi-player game.
Also their not really milking the series too much, especially if these spin off games aren't directly developed by Guerrilla.
A Multi-player game doesn't hurt Horizon at all, I mean hunting a Thunderjaw with friends would he awesome if it's done in a fun way.
This ip has already peaked with the first game
Forbidden West sold 8.5 million copies and people act like it flopped. Iāve been stuck on Elder Scrolls Online nearly a decade and I would love for a new MMO to take my time. Iām looking forward to this. Wonāt judge it till I play it. I hated ESO for the longest time and then got into it and itās the only games Iāve played consistently for 8 years.
If it's online only then I'm not buying it anymore. I learned my lesson with concord. The only online game that can draw me back is Warhawk, that was good fun on the PS3.
Just kinda wish they would release Horizon 3 in 2026, which will never happen.
The game is not mentioned, so in spite of previous rumors, it could very well be Killzone, as a Remaster... or as a GAAS Reboot, who knows.
All in all, it's no new IP though, which is too bad....
Can this franchise please go away forever?
It baffles me why Sony keeps flogging this IP. The setting is interesting, but the story is a convoluted mess and the characters lack the appeal of the other main IPs. I look forward to Horizon 3, but please stop with the yearly spinoffs/remasters or otherwise Horizon becomes the next AC. If you want to make a MMO go for it, but come up with something original. Whatās next Horizon Karting?
@playstation1995
This man speaks the truth
Give me Days Gone 2 Sony, and stop bothering me with that boring game. Or as the dude above mentioned give us Killzone remaster, infamous resistance.
I know online forums and places like Reddit can be an echo chamber, but really WHO CARES about this? Like I LOVE Horizon. Super pumped to play the Lego game, but I know I will put in 0 hours in a potential online service/multiplayer/5v5 hero shooter (joke) in the horizon world. Sorry Gorilla
@AhmadSumadi a decent chunk of those were forced bundles when it was still hard to get a PS5ā¦itās going to be basically impossible for forbidden west to match the sales of the first game.
I think Horzion 3 will sell even less.
If the game is good it is good and i will think about it. If its bad i will not play it. No need to have my judgement ready right now. We shall see.
@Shad361 Sequels selling less that the first game isn't really a surprise. Happens all the time. Especially for new IPs. Supposedly (per a twitter post) 80% of the sales didn't come from the bundles. So 1.7million of that 8.5 million can be attributed to the bundles. Even after going up against the heavyweight that is Elden Ring I'd say Horizon has done pretty well.
Canāt wait for the finale, if it is the finale lol
Waiting to see what this actually is. I have my fingers crossed for a streamlined MH style of experience with Horizon's robo-dinos. I just wonder if Horizon has the weapon variety to keep something like that interesting.
A intern position asking for practical experience. I don't know whether to cry or laugh. They want to do the internship to gain practical experience to get a permanent.
@DuncanMcleod an look at Fortnite profits, they qre going to keep doing it until something sticks.
It's safe to say Sony will have a Horizon game ready every year for the foreseeable future, I'm guessing Horizon 3 will be ready by 2026. So buckle up everyone Sony is going to make you love Horizon or else
Didn't they give up the Killzone series because they (the studio) didn't want to be stuck making the same type of game ovber and over again?
I would leap at the chance of replaying a remastered Killzone series (I'd even no get annoyed at Rico for being a ****) or if Insomniac threw a remastered Resistance series at us. I mean I like HZD, it's a pretty cool series but aren't they just getting stuck, and labeled, as the HZD studio now?
I enjoyed the two mainline Horizon games (though I had some big issues the second one's story), but this is too much Horizon coming out of Sony in too short a space of time. It's going to generate apathy toward the IP if they're not careful.
@Frmknst
It's funny how everyone hates online multiplayer games but would eat a trail or dog crap to get a Last of Us multiplayer game that we don't even know if it will be as good as Factions. I guarantee that if the new game is not a copy and paste of Factions the entire community will have a temper tantrum.
Thereās only two real games, a VR tech demo and a Lego spin-off and yet the series feels like itās become fast food.
Hopefully it doesn't blow up like Concord did. Still, don't think it's necessary.
Please not another online game, just stick with what the series does well.
They are gonna milk this franchise for at least two more console generations...
Killzone, how I miss thee...well except for that ***** Shadow Fall game...
@cuttlefishjones Guerilla gave up Killzone because
1) They already done what they want with the story aka it's finished.
2) With Shadow Fall only sold 2.1 million copies and who knows what Mercernary numbers is, it's clear the series can't offer enough revenue for Guerilla / Sony in the long run anymore. Killzone series total sales stuck at 9-10 million copies ww.
Now Horizon series already sold 32 million copies ww since Zero Dawn debut back in 2017. In just 7 years, Horizon has triple sales than what Killzone did for 3 generations of console (PS2-PS4) + handheld (PSP-Vita).
Not to mention Horizon generated better merchandise than Killzone too such as Lego set, comic adaptation, funkos / action figures, and tabletop board. Plus, a tv series adaptation is in the work.
That's why Guerilla keep making Horizon not just the series is still young and has plenty of potentials but it prints money for them and Sony. They will stop once they don't have anymore story to tell and the series stop printing money.
Im actually curious to know what this is, hope to see something soon.
I don't have a problem with a coop horizon game. I actually wanted Forbidden West to have a coop mode. But that never happened.
My problem with this whole thing is that it takes away devs from working on the propper third game. You know, the game people are actually waiting for. People said it wouldn't take away from the single player games. But it really does. It delays all the games people bought a PS5 for. Trying to cram multiplayer to players that for the most part play single player games. It's just incredibly stupid.
@Ashkorsair I was actually caught off guard by this refreshingly sensible comment. š
people keep bringing up killzone ,and i love killzone , but the entire killzone series added up doesn't even come close to horizon zero dawn sale numbers.
@twitchtvpat Yeah. Horizon series at 32 million copies ww vs Killzone series at 9-10 million copies across 3 generations of console + 2 handheld.
With the remaster, Lego Horizon, online game, and eventually Horizon 3, the series could pass 50+ million copies in the next 5 years.
Every time I've heard this game mentioned in rumors for the last three years, it was always followed up with, "But, why?".
I want to play out the rest of the story. Hopefully they havenāt written themselves into a corner Westworld style
Horizon Kart and Horizon Cooking Madness! up next next.
I'm more interested in whatever instant classic comes out at the same time and totally overshadows it, like BotW and Elden Ring did before. I mean, with how the timing is lining up with the Switch 2, there is actually a decent chance the next Zelda releases around the time of the next Horizon.
