Marvel Rivals is ready for release on 6th December, as the game has officially gone gold.
The hero shooter has a shot at becoming one of the biggest games on the planet, with its familiar characters pairing with a well-established gameplay formula.
While the industry has not been kind to Overwatch clones of late, this outing will feature a roster of 33 familiar faces at launch, with some seriously on-point art direction. It’ll also be free-to-play, so it costs nothing to give it a go.
We had mixed feelings about the beta at Push Square Towers; some of us loved it, others were less keen. But the developer has had almost six months to listen to feedback, polish the experience, and balance the gameplay since then – we’re confident about the end results.
Of course, with a new season of Fortnite imminent and other live service games maintaining their appeal, this is a really difficult sector to break into. But we have a sneaking suspicion the superheroes of Marvel Rivals will give it the chops to stand out in a crowded category – this is going to be big.

I'll give it a try until I remember that I don't like multiplayer games.
I've been so impressed with all the artwork they've been releasing recently. The character designs are absolutely superb.
33 heroes at launch seems insane. Gonna be so hard to balance that.
Can't wait and it drops when pay day hits so i might buy the battle pass if i like it.
@Jey887 and they're all free and not locked behind a price.
I'm sure this game will have a lot of players which i wish the same happen for MvC Fighting Collection...
I mean, it isn’t Concord so I’m willing to give it a shot.
It looks good to be honest. Free to play Chinese hero shooter amidst the Marvel fatigue and it still somehow looks good.
I’m as likely to try this as I was Concord… and I’ve been a fan of Marvel comics since 1982! I’m aware that I’m firmly in the minority on this one and the game will no doubt a be a huge success… life on the fringe eh?
@nessisonett "Marvel fatigue" Deadpool & Wolverine 2nd highest grossing film this year and highest grossing R-Rated film ever, Agatha All Along was a big hit and X-Men 97 was also a hit. There is no "Marvel fatigue" its just people no longer blindly turn up for anything good or bad just because its Marvel, its more "bad Marvel movie fatigue" that's happening.

@AfroMario That's why it has battle passes and cosmetic MTX. They're going to make a killing selling skins way more then they would if the game sold at $60. Also F2P is the only way to go now for hero shooters and its why Concord was always doomed at $40.

Oh shoot, the game releases in a week? That really snuck up.
I've watched a streamer play the closed beta during the summer and the game looks really cool. I definitely want to check it out upon release.
Looks better than Concord... And for free.

Oh so people do want another hero arena shooter, yet a few months ago the genre was full and concord was too late to the party 🤔😂.
@PuppetMaster not even overrated MvC2 could save it 😛
@DennisReynolds I think marvel fatigue is definitely a thing that varies from person to person, but because there's tonnes of new fans every year you don't really see it that much or gets talked about. For some fans having films, TV shows, games and comics release at a monthly/yearly rate can get a bit much after a while. I mean people seem fatigued about the Horizon IP with 4 games in 8 years so I can definitely see people getting fatigued with Marvel.
i’m hoping this games good because i’ve been in a multiplayer drought for a long time now . i still wish concord was better
@nessisonett "condescending" and you aren't? PQ is removing so many comments from you now on Pro articles due to way you are on them. As i said lately it seems very mask off with you lately.
Also you never said Marvel fatigue was your own personal feeling you worded it as it was the general feeling. I simply stated otherwise and backed it up.
@nomither6 This is the 1st time i played MvC 2 and i can see why a lot of people praised it. So i think the game deserves all the praise. If only the collection has crossplay and Wifi indicator.
@DennisReynolds Don't forget Venom: The Last Dance. Despite negative review from critics but many audiences actually enjoyed it and the movie did well in the box office.
Also, last year Insomniac Spider-man 2 sold 11 million copies. And the new Ultimate Spider-man comic series has very positive reception among fans, which i read the series until volume 8 or 9 and it's really good.
So yeah what you said is true that people had enough of bad Marvel movies, tv shows, or products than Marvel or superhero genres in general.
@PuppetMaster Spider-Verse sequel also done well last year as well as Guardians 3.
Looks like it will have a shot at doing well. The depth of hero’s is very good and while yes it is gimmicky as long as they make it good enough it could stand. Them doing full live service free to play will give it a chance at success
@DennisReynolds you're next to be cancelled arguing with him. I agree with you the MARVEL movies after end game have been very hit and miss. The daredevil and punisher series on Netflix were awesome (two of my all time faves) but all the Disney plus series have been bad with the exceptions of falcon and winter soldier, moon Knight and werewolf by night. I'm dreading the new daredevil series.
@Northern_munkey My favourite D+ Marvel are WandaVision, Moon Knight, Werewolf and Agatha All Along but yeah very hit or miss. I do have hope for Daredevil though as they have brought nearly everyone back, retooled it into a proper sequel to the Netflix series and are keeping it mature. I've also seen the leaked trailer and it looks really good.
@DennisReynolds True and i love both movies. I can't wait for Beyond Spider Verse but Marvel / Disney probably wouldn't bother to make GotG 4 since James Gunn moved to DC and Bautista said he's done with Drax.
@DennisReynolds sweet. I know the new daredevil is based on daredevil reborn which is probably the greatest daredevil run. I have a limited edition hardback tpb and I've read it numerous times. Now just bring back bernthal as the punisher..
Again, all I know about Marvel Rivals is it is really fun to say as Scooby Doo. Oh! Or like Hamburglar!
@DennisReynolds shrug. I was over the MCU way before End Game. I was done with everything being undercut with smarm a long time ago. It felt like "tell the story again, dad, again" by whatever the film was with the purple space baddie. It got to the point where you could watch a Marvel film and call every story beat...including the purple space baddie. I love comics, but I never understood how the MCU was so successful for so long.
And yeah, some of that is a reaction to it being so popular, because that's almost never good for old fans. "Nerd culture" becoming this ubiquitous thing, becoming the most popular media out there? That's how we get all these milquetoast/paint by numbers games and movies. Be nice if the Everyman went back to sitcoms and NFL.
Really hoping it's good as I love the Marvel universe, the recent Star Wars game was a monumental disappointment so I really want this to be good
