You may have forgotten about this, as it was announced back in September, but PlayStation is planning to release a free trial version of Gran Turismo 7 as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.
It's called My First Gran Turismo, and has just recently received an age rating in Taiwan (spotted by Gematsu), meaning its release is imminent.
My First Gran Turismo will be made available to all PS5 and PS4 users. Designed "to attract diverse players of all skill levels" to the latest game in the series, it features cars, tracks, and events which "evoke the nostalgia and excitement of the very first GT experience".
Sony announced it'd be arriving this holiday, and it appears to be on schedule. We expect it'll release within the next week or so, arriving on or near 3rd December — PlayStation's anniversary date.
Are you interested in a free trial of Gran Turismo 7? Will you be playing My First Gran Turismo when it arrives soon? Pull up to the comments section below.

"Will you be playing My First Gran Turismo when it arrives soon?"
No, I just keep on playing GT7.
Sounds like it's being made by Fisher Price 😂
I got really excited till I saw My in the title.
The real question is when will GT7 get ported to PC. That would be huge
Not much of a racing games enthusiast.
I hope it includes VR2 support, because I wanna try that (but I don't expect to play the game a lot so I'm not buying it)
Well, already they failed in the naming department. I thought the title was click bait, where it was one of the older gts getting re-released.
I just got the full version for 36 quid from Very. I suspect this might be Sony attempt to the title into a more live service type thing an providing a free entry point.
I do plan to pick up gran turismo 7 on my ps5 eventually, but got too much of a backlog at the moment. I will check this demo version out though.
I had a demo for Gran Turismo on Playstation 1 so this won't be my first gran turismo, but I'm glad they understand that we are entitled to free things so I'll definitely pick this up.
Sorry, My First Gran Tourismo was on PSX and I gave up after about 10 minutes, because was not able to make driving licence.
This train is gone already...
It sounds like a demo, which makes sense. Will be interesting to see what it includes.
GT7 has been one of my favorite PS5 games since release. It’s good if more people can get a taste of the game through this option.
I have the PSVR 2, where GT7 shines, but I found that sitting close to a 4K OLED on a desktop like a PC puts you right in the driver’s seat.
As someone who really wanted a single play GT game, I’m still playing this (regular GT7)
nearly every day after 2 years. The driving is just so much fun, getting a sub five minute lap of the Nurburgring in a Dodge Tomahawk is a blast. I finished most of the single player element in a couple of weeks, but I keep coming back to Pokemon cars (about 15 left to get). I’ve never touched an online race either. Even with out VR it’s fun, I just love it with VR now though, can’t play it pancaked any more
Nah GT is trash now. I still play gt4 and 5.
At this point the only exciting news for GT would be an offline patch for GT7.
@RedRiot193 I have a lot of nostalgia for GT4, but I think GT7 is pretty darn good as well. I didn't enjoy GT Sports because it lacks single player content, but GT7 has a lot to do (especially these days after countless updates).
@iPaud it's one of my most wanted PC ports, alongside Astro Bot.
Wow, what a bunch of miserablists in these comments.
@JohntheRaptor you realize Sony used to have a range of My First Sony products?
Is it playable completely offline, or is it shackled to an unnecessary and gamer-unfriendly online server requirement like how they ruined the full game?
Looking forward to trying this. I was a huge GT fan in the PS and PS2 days, but the series went stale after that so I'm keen to find out if GT7 has recaptured the magic of the early games.
@Balaam_ , you do need to be online to play anything other than arcade mode. It’s not been an issue for me except when they do maintenance, then it can be down for a couple of hours (like 6AM - 8AM, on one day, maybe once every couple of months). If you’ve got bad internet I guess it might throw you out of a race, but I’ve not had that happen in the last 2 years
@DrVenture69 The issue (at least for me) isn't about how well it works now, its about the single player game being almost completely unplayable when they eventually shut the servers down for good, which they will, its only a matter of time.
Offline mode?
My PS2 fat one was in the GT3 pack. Good times...
@thedevilsjester GT Sport received an offline mode update when that happened, so it's highly likely the same would be done for GT7.
@KoopaTheGamer GT7 is you just collecting cars for some dude in a cafe. It has no career mode to speak of. And being online only still sucks.
@thedevilsjester I know what you mean, it was the same with Drive Club. At 700+ hours, I feel I’ve got my money’s worth already. Hopefully as @MrHabushi says, it’ll get an offline patch, but by that time GT8 will be out on the PS6
@DrVenture69 @MrHabushi Unfortunately An "update" is not a viable solution to me, because the update servers will eventually also be taken down, in which case you wont be able to get the update that disables the requirement.
Granted these are (potentially) long term worries, and many don't care about them; but its a deal breaker for me.
I’m working through my car catalogue getting to 100%
@RedRiot193 Cafe is only a small part of the single player. The main thing are the races that are found in the World Circuits menu. You can also access the races through Event Directory which works pretty much exactly the same as previous games in the series, as you can choose Sunday cup event and play through all the races in that cup.
@KoopaTheGamer It really isn't. Leveling up your character through a career mode is gone ruining progression, and the coffee house is always the main focus. Then to progress further you have to do those stupid trials. I pointed out GT5 for a reason.
Literally the worst name ever. May as well call it "Baby's First Racing Sim". WTH, Sony? 🤦♂️
When I was a kid I pumped so so many hours into the first few Gran Turismo's so I naturally bought GT7 on release day. I probably played it for around 12 hours and I just quit cold turkey. Not sure if it's because I have less free time these days or what but I found it super repetitive and couldn't get into it all
The naming confused me I forget this was even called that, it's such weak branding/advertising. Made me think wait GT1 to PS4/5 but licensing so no. As eh as GT1 is I'd prefer it over GT7 that's for sure.
I'd take a Tourist Trophy 2 as well but like Polyphony would bother with one or a non-licensed cars entry. Or an actual cut down project like they used to do with the motoshow or prologues or stuff like that.
That aside I mean, it's no GT for Boys back in the GT PSP/GT4 & 5 era of naming or project but I mean sigh. Give someone, anyone a bet entry then GT7 and I'd agree, but because it's GT7, pass. I'll get GT7 on PS4 when it's cheap like I did GT Sport 2 years before it's server shutdown and put my input of wiki editing into it's progress and it was a fair game. 7 is just so GT5/FM6 I just can't and the price is too high as well. I'm not funding it at a new price I don't like the game/direction of the series enough to support Sony/Polyphony there.
Let alone a free moment. It's fair but also kind of like eh. Let alone the OST 30th anniversary stuff, talk about restrictive and not open ended enough to showcase the 30 years of PS at all. XD As if their target audience wasn't obvious. Also Unit 13 really. A good game but who remembers it not those alongside the other OSTs. You targeting just a stereotypical audience there Sony. XD Forget the other IPs but oh an Ape Escape plush will do. Who are these people running this I swear it's a big joke.
Forza Motorsport 6 and GT6/7 already are bad entries in my eyes, and bad celebrations of the series, so why would i support this celebration for 30 years of PS when I didn't agree with the way the others were handled for the game series.
@hi_drnick I agree this site is full with the most miserable people lately. I have seen quite a few sites go under because of this.
@Flaming_Kaiser yeah, the tone of PS has changed a lot over the years. Used to be very pro-gaming, even if a bit cynical. Now it feels like a free-for-all to crap on everyone and everything.
Maybe that's just gaming in general.
How about remastered gt1 onward, rather than a worm on a hook. Says something about the games popularity when you have to go fish for new users.
I haven't played gt7 for well over a year, got bored with whole cafe thing. Just too grindy for my taste.
@hi_drnick A group of entitled little brats is what I see it's getting so annoying. I just want to read some nice news without everyone going mental about every little thing. Man I miss OPM it was old news but atleast I didn't need to see all the miserable remarks.
@thedevilsjester You can still download updates for PS3 games from 17 years ago, so as much as I agree that it's a valid concern there's at least no real precedent set yet.
@MrHabushi
Sony will not keep supporting older titles indefinitely. Its costly and they will eventually discontinue updates; however that's not really the main issue.
Sony could also get out of the gaming business entirely; maybe SteamDeck (or new SteamBoxes?) get so popular that they no longer see a point, or maybe they make an incredibly stupid mistake that irreparably damages the brand, or any number of possibilities.
The point isn't to think about the myriad of what-ifs, just that there is a very real possibility that 10/20/30 years from now the games will no longer be playable and I do not want to support the "games are ephemeral" mindset.
Tangentially related, my ISP was having issues recently and we were without stable internet for over two weeks.
Aaah reminds me of the good old "my first Sony" walkman. And speaker with microphone.
@hi_drnick Nope he doesn't, because 99% of what's responding now wasn't even born then, I think.
@S727 GT7 is extremely popular. It’s now the second biggest selling GT game of all time and I’m glad because it’s nothing short of brilliant
