Nine staff members from the Chinese conglomerate NetEase have been arrested on charges of money laundering and bribery. Those detained include two of the company's executives: NetEase Games' general manager Xiang Lang and esports lead Jin Yuchen.

Picked up by Chinese language outlet Leifeng and reported by Bloomberg (thanks, Eurogamer), NetEase Games, the studio behind shooter Marvel Rivals and mobile spinoff Destiny: Rising, released an internal memo announcing that nine staff members had been dismissed and had been detained on anti-corruption charges. The exact specifics remain unknown, but the conspiracy is believed to be sprawling and expansive; connected to 28 entities that supply or work with NetEase, the case is estimated to be worth £107.5 million / $139.3 million.

A spokesperson for NetEase said that police are actively investigating the matter and that more details would not be forthcoming. Are you surprised to hear of this executive scandal from NetEase's C-Suite? Let us know in the comments section below.
